The Hilltoppas rap in that they create lyrical sequences with rhyme and flow. Australian Hip Hop is miles apart from and streets ahead of the aggressive anger fuelled misoginystic rubbish that characterises so much of the genre. It's nothing like the "Rap Music" that people say they don't like. To dismiss it like that without taking the time to listen further is like saying "I'll give it a miss, I don't like food." Have a nibble and you might just find a tasty morsel.
Streets ahead? That's funny. Aus-hop is possibly the worst genre of music my ears have ever had the misfortune of hearing. Compared to US hip hop groups the level of lyrical intelligence going on in Hilltop Hoods and Bliss N Eso is like listening to a Neanderthal beat his chest.
Yeah, it's great to see Australian rappers create lyrical sequences about the hard hitting issues that really matter…like shaking hands.
For those who don't know, Hilltop Hoods are an Australian HipHop/Rap Group that makes fairly popular Music. It's defiantly worth a listen to as its very different take on American HipHop/Rap Music and is fantastic considering it's for free!:)
Well said! I also think this album will likely be their most popular and appeal to a greater audience, awesome selection of music put together in to a superb album.
Let's hope it doesn't get too popular though because no one likes to listen to mainstream music :p
