      I have this kettle, Russell Hobbs KE5000RAU. Works great. Boils in the standard time for an electric kettle. Ours is metallic red. The inside of the kettle is primarily metal but there's a little bit of plastic to show the water level, so we didn't notice any plastic smell. The handle and lid are hard plastic.

      Two bad things:

      • The thermometer is only a target temperature, not the current temperature. Usually you would just set it for 100 so it boils, but you can do any increment of 5 degrees C from 40 to 100.

      • The power cable is extremely short. It's only half a meter so it barely reaches to our power plug.

      Aside from that, we got ours for $49 and it works great.

    Nice kettle. We had an issue with ours leaking from below the water indicator when you filled over half way so we got a refund. Paid $49 for it before Christmas last year in Target. For this price and 2 year warranty we'll try another!

    No problems with smells. Pretty quiet compared to other kettles we have had and quick to boil.
