Beware of duraleaks. They are very unreliable, both from personal experience and others' experience.
Alkalines possibly but I have not heard of NiMH rechargable issues.
Google any battery brand + leaks and you find reports of leaking batteries.
Google any child care centre/nursing home/political party and you'll find them there too

Quite well. They were made at the same place if Im not mistaken. Im not sure thats still true though. Regardless, the Duraloops as theyve been dubbed are good.

i haven't used the ipad or other app, but it was able to be entered on the ebay website at a reasonably early stage of the checkout process
