    Friday Night Beyers ?

        • +1

Why would you sleep with headphones on?. I'm sure there are earmuffs that will block all noise out and much cheaper.

Someone who sleeps in the airport

It seems that airport janitors are well paid these days…

      • +10

A Mercedes is just an expensive Hyundai. Some people would spend that much at a seafood restaurant and other would happily have a steak at the pub. Some people will pay alot of money for good sound.

A Discount of 30% is definitely a bargain.

        • +5

@hollykryten: it's a relevant comparison. High end headphones are like high end cars…they do what the basic models do but with finer details and quality

        • +2

Most people wouldn't bat an eyelid at blowing this on speakers.

          These are speakers….

        • +6

          @hollykryten:
That's a very subjective claim. Extreme audiophiles will scoff and laugh at your claim; we are talking about people who will spend thousands upon thousands of dollars just for minute improvements in the sound (aka law of diminishing return)

There are many headphones that are easily over $1000 and even more. These are in the middle tier of what people consider audiophile grade consumer headphones.

You seem to have a very negative attitude to things that other people would see as a niche bargain.

        • +3

@hollykryten: on the contrary. They do have enough sense to seek out a good price for these. Beyers are nowhere near my budget for headphones but I don't go belittling those who can afford them out of petty jealousy

        • +3

          @hollykryten:

Every comment you post has a backhanded judgement in, so spare us the "every man for himself" nonsense and keep to your true colours.

I have a mate that bought a pair of $30K speakers to go with his $15K valve amplifier (yes, those numbers are not typos - and they were second hand!). He is one serious audiophile. Of course, I didn't appreciate the quality of the sound coming from his system but I did understand the pleasure he derived from owning such an expensive piece of equipment.

So seeing a $1K pair of headphones is no longer a rude shock if you know the lengths a true aficionado will go to for the ultimate experience. Just because you don't share the same passion doesn't mean you should scoff at someone else's values. It's not too different to respecting other people's religion.

@hollykryten: You mistake ozbargain for the budget guide on whirlpool. OzB is about finding the best price for a particular product, not the best bang/buck in it's class. If a ferarri is found on sale for 40% off, it still qualifies for a deal on ozb.

        • @krisspy:

Depends on perspective. To a richer person this may be seen as an easy buy. To some one on a tight budget this may be seen as a massive waste of money.

        • +3

          @hollykryten:

I'm amazed at what people spend on smartphones but everyone does it so its not considered a waste of money. However if there was a 20% saving to be had I'd still vote it a bargain!

        • @hollykryten: > To some one on a tight budget this may be seen as a massive waste of money.

doesn't make it any less of a bargain. you've been on here long enough to have realised that a ~30% saving is nothing to sneeze at.

        • +1

          @hollykryten:

I guess u will never experience eargasm

        • +1

@hollykryten: Im not talking about perspective or budgets. You commented on people putting up $1000 headphones on ozb. My point was if a particular product was on sale (luxury goods or not), and is the cheapest anywhere at the time, then it is a bargain as per definition of the word and the purpose of this website.

Everyone has values and a preference. Maybe you don't hear or appreciate sound as much as the next guy. Can you tell the difference between a pair of UE6000 and a sennheiser orpheus? If you donate $5 to a cancer charity and a co-worker donates $1000 despite being on similar wages, would you rant about him being out of his mind?

    • +2

They phrase should strictly be reserved to Beats Headphone :)

  • -4

    Any one got a spare $480 for a headphone?…

Could have recently bought six Logitech UE6000 headphones for that price.

    • -3

      Any one got a spare $480 for a headphone?…

It's probably a typo. probably should read $48

    • +4

In shocking news, more expensive products are different from less expensive ones.

Feel free to live in a world of polyester suits, instant ramen for dinner, cold showers and driving a Datto 120y. Not everyone is a brokeass.

    • +2

Not everyone likes bloated offensive bass on their headphones.

  • +1

Staticice has them at $699 + delivery for local stock.

Correction, $699 should include delivery. Not that it is any more of a deal unless you are an audiophile.

  • +18

    Hope nobody gets beyers remorse.

    • Ok i gotta rec that one.

    • +1

      beyers beware?

  • +1

Ah good deal. I recently picked up a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro's and have never looked backed.

    • No matter how many headphones I try out, I always go back to my dt880/600ohm. They are the best thing this side of T1s.

      • +1

        +1 to the dt880's.

Replaced my pro's with a T1 and frankly the differences aren't huge. I got the T1's for $680 and at that price imo its just worth it. At the normal price of the T1 I wouldn't bother.

        • That's a good price for T1, where did you get it from?

I got my DT880 for about $250 though, guess there's no need to upgrade to T1 if the difference are not that great…

        • @sheepy: the T1 was from ebay when they had the 15% off deal.

I bought my pro's off amazon for about $250 aswell. Sound signature is exactly the same, just better imaging, greatly reduced sibilance, vocals are more upfront and tighter bass.

    • I wanted to buy a pair of those but got confused by the multiple models with different ohms and wasn't sure the difference or which is better. There was also pro and premium and I couldn't tell which of those titles was the superior sounding one.

      • +1

        the pro's are cheaper - they're 250ohms
        premiums have 3 impedence models - 32/250/600
pro vs premium - coiled vs straight cable, tighter clamping force on the pros (gives slightly more bass but they'll loosen to the same clamp after a month or so), aesthetics

Differences are…well none, between the 600 and 250 atleast. Get the pros, less power needed and the pros are like $50 cheaper than the premiums. For reference, my T1's are about 2-3db louder than the pros at the same dial on my amp, the 600ohms would be a b*tch to drive since they're not efficient.

        • Is less resistance better or is more better?

        • @lostn: Neither. Higher ohms just makes it easier to reach the suggested optimal damping factor of 8 or more. Once you get an amp with close to 0 output impedence then its all irrelevant.

600 will definitely need a desktop amp.
250 will get decent volume (not exciting) with tablets/laptops, portable amps should be fine for these.

If you're buying an amp either way, then get whatever looks good. They'll sound the same (atleast to my A/B testing they did).
250 + a fiio e17 if you want to maximise utility. The e17 is compatible with pc and alot of androids.

Have a read at NwAvGuy's blogs, really good technical stuff there (alot better info than 90% of the bullshit passed around HeadFi).

        • @krisspy: Which should I Get if I don't intend to use an amp? Or am I the wrong market?

        • @lostn: the 32 ohms. They're made to be used without the need for an amp.

You might have to wait for a sale in 32 ohm version though. At their usual prices you can just buy the 250 pro + cheap amp.

Ahh, the righteous condemnation crew are out in force, today, aren't they?

Can't fathom the idea of price X for product Y and casting aspersions from their lofty positions as bastions of judgement as to what is permitted to be enjoyed. Questioning sanity, depicting people as "extreme". Oh boy.

We've got to nuke those comments from orbit - it's the only way to be sure.

    • +1

I'd be flattered to be considered "extreme" ;) can't stomach paying three figures on headphones myself, but this is ozbargain, not ozdollarshop. Savings are savings and this is a good deal.

      +1 for Aliens reference.
