Yerp. I can only hope now that Disney is in control they will see fit to release an unedited version. It's money for nothing. Literally.
In any event, the Complete Saga has a tonne of bonus stuff that wasn't available when getting just the original trilogy, so you may as well get the full thing even if you don't like the first three.

To save people the effort, the harmy version is where a very devoted individual has despecialised Lucas's bastardisations of the original trilogy.

Lucas has said repeatedly that there will never be another release of the original version. Whether Disney over-rules that or not, I can't say. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest to learn that buying Star Wars came with a "hands off" clause for the existing content though.
I have the 1997 remastered original edition on VHS. I wish I had them on Blu-Ray. I'd like to say I'd prefer to watch the originals on VHS than the modern version on Blu-Ray, but that'd be a bald-faced lie.
