  • i hear these are limited to the size of vinyl they can take + it's limiting with the power source. I read the review somewhere….

    • Looks like it'd take a 12"?

But stylus wouldn't last long at 78rpm…

  • $69

    • User 677 may be new to submitting deals, but should know to include the price ;)

      • Thought the headline :

"USB Turntable $69 @ Aldi this week"

        would have been displayed correctly,

        thanks for your criticism HueyData

        • harrribo, not sure what you meant by "would have been displayed correctly" or what criticism you're referring to.

  • It looks like it would take a 12" LP - it would be a bit ridiculous not to. However I find the description confusing stating 78rpm which not many people have, and then three speed - which would suggested 33.3/45/78 as the main standards.

Also, in the picture it's connected to a Macbook so I wonder if that means it's compatible with OSX.

  • If you have vinyls wouldn't you already have a turntable and could just use one of those $3 audio cables?

    • If you wanted to record directly from turntable to PC you would also need a phono to line level converter.

      • I'm pretty sure that those phono sockets are still the same straight analogue audio but in an RCA socket - which is a $3 cable that looks a little different. I was assuming the turntable would already have a 3.5mm audio jack - like those stereos from the 90s with a turntable on the top. I'm just saying that Aldi's done their research and has tried to find a gap in the market where there really wasn't one because a $3 cable would fulfil the same purpose, but they realise there are people with vinyls who will buy these.

  • Oh please - new to posting on ozbargain so be gentle!!! With BS like that you should get hit with negative votes

What we are going to go around and bash your keyboard?? Tar and feather your pet fish?

If its a bargain we'll respond positively
If its not we'll ignore it
If its spam or a con, you'll get told off.

So instead of pleading for gentleness just post a bargain and remember everyone's idea of a bargain can be different

I know some here are just being harsh, they are just like that, most ignore them, and you can check their user profile and see their posting trends. And they often get hammered by others if they keep this trend up

But posting is sharing which is whats this site is all about so don't waste time looking for approval. If you find something post it. Just like you have this time.

    • Tar and feather! TAR AND FEATHER!!!!

      • Peasant !

    • " comment withdrawn"

  • bought one of these today
Will let you know how it goes after I test it out tonight

    • Ok.. haven't tested the software for the conversion to digital files.

However I connected it to my Yamaha reciever and it sounded decent enough.
There is a twist dial on the turntable to adjust the speed more finely for optimal playback which was a nice touch.
      3 speed selector as well.

Happy with the purchase so far, but will be keen to check out the usb connection hopefully over the weekend.

  • +3

DO NOT convert the vinyls to .mp3, as all you are doing is ruining the quality vinyls give you. Convert it to .flac if anything.

    • Yep.Or wav then burn straight to CD after cutting.

  • When's Bloody Aldi coming to WA? :)
