There are 100 million $100 7", low res tablets (more to the point, there are $50 7" low res tablets), why would anyone buy this one?

    • +2

Well, it's it is a 3G tablet I guess…..But, at 512mb RAM, it will be tortuously slow for even the most basic tasks. Forget about multitasking, or placing widgets on the home screen.

Ainol Novo 7 Numy AX1 3G ($150 from most shops) has a quad core mediatek processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB ROM / 16GB for those who need the extra performance for a 3g enabled tab.

also note many no-name tabs have extremely high failure rates. If you want something that lasts, it may be best to look into a branded tab — say an Asus FonePad or ASUS Zenfone 6.

I have also noticed that 7 inch 3G tablets have almost dissappeared off the market and are now being outsold by high performing phablets, usually in the 5 or 6 inch range. I assume the Phablet form factor and the rage surrounding big phones is what's killing the need for a 3G enabled 7" tablet.

Low cost WiFi access points (eg: "WiFi Pocket" for $20 (with 2.5 GB) in cureent Voda deal) also make built-in 3G/4G less useful, at least for those who can keep track of extra device, when out & about. ;-)

That said, we're looking at getting another Samsung 10.1" Phone/Tab (this time w/ 3 GB RAM, 32 GB storage, quad-core); their earlier 10.1" model has given us the -least- amount of trouble across all of our tab's & phones, for several years.

And… our eyes appreciate the 10,1" screen size. :-)

  • "Wow!! A 7" tablet with 512MB and 3G!!!! What a bargain"

is what we said 3 years ago about the Optus MyTab.
The low RAM for Android 4 is such a killer, that I will not bother asking about the battery life.
