  • Pretty good price. Not Cherry switches as this is the 2014 with razers own switch type.

Just curious as to how these compare with cherry reds in terms of noise?

I've been doing a crap tonne of data entry at work and my hands hurt typing on a membrane… I want something quiet and i have a cherry red kb at home and love it

These are very similar to cherry blue. Which is very loud and clicky in comparison to cherry red.

Most people seem to prefer typing on cherry blue, so it might be worth trying it out yourself.

      • I prefer the 2013 keys that were cherry blues to the Razer equivalent. The stealth model aren't blues though.

        • Yeah, I think the Stealth KBs are similar to Cherry Brown switches.

      • I went to MSY last week and picked up this keyboard. I use a Das Keyboard at work with Cherry Browns.

I gotta say the quality of the Razer is very good. Very solid (and heavy) keyboard. I cannot personally compare it to the Cherry Reds, but can compare it to the Browns on the Das Keyboard (so I'll let you do your own from there).

        • Slightly heavier force to press the key - but not by much, no where near that of the Cherry Blacks (a guy at work here has Cherry Blacks).
        • Completely linear feel, no tactile bump.
        • Very quiet, quieter than the Browns. The Browns (at least on the Das), while don't have a an audible click, have a bit of a "loose clatter" about them as you type. The Razer does not have this loose clatter, and just feels tighter and firmer. Not necessarily better or worse, but just different. I actually kind of prefer it over the Cherry Browns. It's as if they have a rubber ring inside to dampen / absorb the vibration of the keys (will check this when I get home actually). Just makes the typing experience feel smoother.

All in all a very nice keyboard, with audio and USB passthrough, 10 key roll over and macro keys, pretty damn good for sub $100. Happy I picked one up. Funnily enough, I've used the macro keys for mapping to opening my favourite apps, rather than for gaming - it's those little things.

From the title I couldn't guess at all that it's a keyboard

    • Edited the title. Thanks.

Thanks. Just ordered one, happened to be looking at this 3-4 days ago. But held off due to price

FYI, those who have't ordered from MSY. 11 bucks delivery via AUSpost and 2% surcharge on credit cards

  • damn, wish I didn't jump on the prev one as this one has backlight :(

  • The Blackwidow really isn't a great keyboard, there are heaps of better ones for the same price. Check out /r/mechanicalkeyboards

    • Waiting for a good deal on the Ducky Browns

      • +1 for Ducky, recently bought a Year of the Snake edition myself (green LED, brown), best keyboard I have used hands down.

      • Ducky's are awesome! When I upgrade my keyboard I'm going for the Ducky Shine or Das.

    • So, can you tell me in confidence that there is a better mechanical keyboard out there for under $100 (and uses Cherry Brown switches like this Blackwidow)?

Why is it stealth/silent, minimal noise when gaming?

    • Yep, got it in one. Similar to the Cherry Blue, reduced audible click.

      • Actually I should say similar to Cherry browns as this is the stealth edition

        • Just got mine last night. I'd say that it's in between Cherry Brown (Quickfire TK) and Cherry Red (Ducky Zero). Very happy with it!

Why dont you link the rest of the MSY Razer sale, the goliath mouse pads are only $5

    • fml i just bought one for $25 yesterday. Life is cruel

  • I actually have been looking into this in the past week as I originally come across it at JB for $239 and then at MSY for $135 so at this price it is a steal!

Very curious on why people say this is not a good keyboard for this price, never used a mechanical, so I wouldn't say I know what I'm talking about so any advise would be great!

As far as I know I do a bit of FPS gaming combined with some typing so I always thought Cherry Browns would be the best for me and the reviews on this are very positive and it's quiet (something I prefer) so what else would someone recommend as I will go and purchase this tonight if someone can't give me some good advise for my needs?

    • Not sure why I got negged as I'm pointing out price history at retailers and that this compares to cherry browns that for a mixture of gaming and typing this is a great keyboard, others have suggested it is not, so I asked for some examples since I intend on buying this or negatives about this board?

  • HI I have no idea about different cherry.
    Question:
    1. Which cherry color that is the quietest or low in noise?
    2. Which brand that has the low noise plus it has build in USB port and headphone/Mic jack (if possible)?
    USB port more important.

    Thanks

  • Anyone tried Max Keyboard/Tesoro?

I quite like the look of the Durandel (Would get the BlackWidow if it didn't glow green)

    • I have a durandal and it's a good keyboard.

  • Bought this for 135 from MSY a few weeks ago and very happy with it.
If you haven't had a mechanical keyboard before, even the silent edition is still louder then the average keyboard.

  • It's back to $135 (>,<)

  • Does anyone know of any other cheap mechanical keyboards?
