How about changing the link to your site, not to a picture?

  • What's the difference between V1 and V2?

    • Hi,
We have designed the 2 models differently for different purposes. The v1 is designed for workbenches, offices and desks whereas the v2 is specifically designed for kitchens with stone bench tops. The main [and only] differences between the two are the size [v2 being slightly bigger in diameter] and the quality of the finish on the top. The v2 has a glossy silver finish that has undergone rigorous polishing processes so it shines and looks professional in high quality kitchens. Otherwise, they have the exact same outlet configuration [2x USB charging outlets and 2x Australia Power Outlets]

      Thanks,
      Seb

  • Hey Rep,

Do you know what is the output for USB?
    Is this 1A outlet?

    Thanks.

    • +1

      Hi,
The power output is 10w between the 2 outlets. - so 2.1 amp combined. If you are only charging one device then it will provide 2.1a out, whereas if you plug in 2 devices it will split and provide 1a out each.

      Thanks,
      Seb

      • What happens with the other 0.1A?

        • +2

          Hi,
I just excluded the 0.1a in the calculation.
Its 2.1a combined and therefore 1.05a if you charge 2 devices.

          Thanks,
          Seb

Kind of an ugly solution. So I have to keep my adapters in a draw, get them out and pop this up and have a wart on my desk, then put it all away?

Power strip under the table is more elegant and 10* cheaper.

    • +2

      Hi Merlict,
We have designed these to look as best as possible. The 2x USB charging outlets mean you won't need most transformers as you can charge your phones, cameras etc.. through the built in USB ports. This is convenient and a step towards looking more neat.

We have designed the v2 to suit stone bench tops so they have the shiny polished silver finish so they can look as best and high-end as possible.

      Thanks,
      Seb

    • I get what Merlict is saying.

Is there not a way you could incorporate retractable cables into the design? Packaged with interchangeable heads so you can choose micro usb or iphone charger, etc..

I do like the idea though, good work sebnet.

      • +1

        Hi,

With the v2 model, you can actually plug devices into the unit and contract the unit, leaving the cables hanging out from the top through the lid. This will only work however for flat power plugs - and all USB cables [as long as they are standard size]

        Thanks.
        Seb

  • Nice idea, not sure why I haven't seen these before.
Couldn't work out the different models. They all seemed to be the same pic.
Couldn't work out how to sign up before purchase. I usually do this before purchase, because the purchase if often lost from your account if not done that way.
    Thx for post

    • Hi Psychd,

I'll try and explain the different models:
We have 2 different models, and one of those models comes in both black and silver - so we simply sell 3 different types of products. So:
v1: $56 - Black or Silver - rougher plastic finish on the top
v2: $101 - Silver only - polished silver top, slightly larger in diameter than v1 and designed for use in stone bench tops

If you would like to see more images or details on our v1 black model you can visit our online brochure:
      http://sebnet.dyndns.tv/wordpress/online-brochure/

To purchase, here is a direct link to our online store which lay's out all our products:
      http://sebnet.dyndns.tv/wordpress/store/products/

      Hope that helps

      Thanks,
      Seb

  • Hi Rep, I see on your site that you can have custom ports or "insertions" added to this product. Do these have a dedicated slot for the port, or do you have to lose a USB or power port?

    • +1

      Hi,

You will need to remove a module to fit another one in. The whole socket is filled up as standard when purchased.
We usually conduct the process for you - for an extra charge, but you must request it with us directly first before purchase for a quote and timing.

Even though its a simple process, you will need to be a certified electrician if you want to do it yourself, and you will need some special security tools.

      Thanks,
      Seb

  • Love the idea and the looks of it, but what happens if you spill water on it? I couldn't figure out from the photos if the lid actually seals the opening

    • Hi,
These are the same IP rating as any other standard Australian outlet, so you would have to keep them the same distance away from water sources as you usually would for any normal power point.

You will also need to have a RCD installed on the circuit that you plug this into - most home have this in the fuse box. Its a safety switch, that if water or any electrical failure was to occur it would switch off the circuit safely automatically.

If you were to spill water on it, just unplug the unit from the mains [so its no longer on] and pull up the unit up and thoroughly clean the whole thing. Making sure there is no condensation or water on the device.

      Thanks,
      Seb

  • Hi Rep,
I tried to buy 4 of the black v1 but the discount was only $20 - so this is $20 of the order not the item?

    • +1

      Hi,

      Use this code: 25POFF
and you will get 25% off the order which almost the same as the other $20 off
Although you cannot use both at the same time otherwise the system will mark the order invalid.

      Thanks,
      Seb

      • that's still $20 extra so I'll do 4 ind orders with the $20 off code and let you sort out the best way to combine them.

Also there's a text bug on your payment confirmation page. Transaction was for $56 but the page says:
"Your PayPal payment for this order totaling $101.00 is complete"

great looking product - looking forward to getting them :-)

  • Rep: would these work ok as 'pop down' units from an over hanging cabinet? Thanks

    • Hi,
Yes, we have had many customers do them upside down and sideways before and they have worked fine.

      Thanks,
      Seb

      • Thanks Seb, but I can't see how to buy the different modules, as they're not listed under products. I need two powerpoints and a switch for the oven. I'm fine to get my sparky to do it, if you guys configuring it would negate the discount (if). What should I do to get the right modules?

        • +1

          Hi Andrew,

The different modules we have in stock at the moment are:
Switches, HDMI, CAT6 (RJ45) and AV (Composite)

For a switch, it will be about $13 extra. I can send you a separate invoice for a power point and switch (uninstalled). You will need to modify the socket yourself by a licensed electrician and remove one other module from the unit.

          Thanks,
          Seb

  • +2

    Great idea…

Might get a couple when they drop down to around $10-$15…

    • +1

      Hi jv,

Sorry, but these won't be getting any cheaper than $56, at least from us with this level of quality.
We are selling these below cost price, by the time we include postage, packaging and paypal fees etc…

      Thanks,
      Seb

    • +1

I agree with jv, there are more reasons not to buy one than to buy one.

      1) I cannot justify paying $50+ dollars for a power board.

      2) It's a great gimmick but if there is a power board at the desk that's plugged into the PC, then what's the point lowering the power board below the surface because the PC will be permanently plugged in.

      3) Why wouldn't I just purchase one of the vertical desktop power board for cheaper, like this one because of point 1 and 2?
      http://www.esold.com.au/vertical-power-board-with-usb-surge-…

4)I am not sure if I want to cut a massive hole in my desk to install the device.

5)Gregfiona brought up a good point of waterproofing, it's inevitable to have water spillage on a work desk, it will become a hazard if water is spilled and the lid doesn't protect it from leakage, no one will be stupid enough to see if it's still ok if water is spilled.

      Thanks.

      • +1

so…it doesn't suit your needs. It does suit mine. I can remove the powerpoint from the splashback in the kitchen so that I have a full mirror there, unbroken. I mount that, infrequently used, powerpoint in the cabinet above, so it can drop down as required. Well worth the investment for my own circumstance.

        • . I can remove the powerpoint from the splashback in the kitchen so that I have a full mirror there,

yep..and at the cost of per cut in a glass splashback + a decent looking power point, you've paid for about 1/2 or more of this

        • @SBOB: Good point - I had actually purchased a 'clipsal saturn' powerpoint for about $70, which I'll now have to sell. So yes, I expect that would have ended up more expensive considering the cost of a hole. I'll still lose a bit selling the saturn switch, but oh well.

        • so…it doesn't suit your needs.

it suits my needs, but the price is not right…

      • Hi apophis,

I will certainly admit, this product won't suit everyone. But we have installed thousands of these all over Australia and because of it, people have benefitted greatly from the convince and simplicity of the product.

I think the main reason people buy these is because they are unique, there is a very limited number of products that can do this.

These are also designed to look neat, the cable for this unit is hidden under the desk, unlike the power board thing you posted. Also, by the time you include postage for that product, the price goes up to $40.

And the kitchen model we've designed - v2, does direct the water to the outskirts of the unit water doesn't come into contact with the outlets.

        Thanks,
        Seb

      • +3

On point 2, I honestly don't think a desktop PC is necessarily the best use case. If the hardware's fixed in place then it seems wasteful to buy an adapter capable of hiding if it will never be used for that purpose. You may as well cut a hole in the desk, put a cable cover on and just run the cables down. Easy access seems unnecessary and the desktop can provide USB power.

These seem far better suited to an island kitchen top where you don't have a wall available to mount a standard outlet or a desk that'll be used with a laptop or some other mobile device that will be removed on a frequent basis and you don't want to mess around behind the desk every time you plug it in.

edit: I've also seen similar things included in boardroom/meeting room tables, usually with some sort of network cabling.

    • +1

      Yes,
The 1st one is very similar to the v2 one we are selling, although ours are a slightly different design and include Australian Outlets and Australia power plugs to make them meet Australian Standards.

The 2nd one is a cheap model we looked at selling but they were terrible quality.

The 3rd one we are considering bringing into the Australian market, but the main issue that has arisen with us it that they are much harder to install. The 3rd one requires a hole that may be difficult to drill in some desks/benchtops and does not have a plug, so only an electrician can install it.

      Thanks,
      Seb

  • The software that my company uses on our internet access has blocked your website for MalWare?

I scanned it on another online website-malware checker, it looked OK. You might want to upgrade your Wordpress.

    • Hi,
Sorry about that. I don't think its the wordpress because we aways make sure it is up to date.
We are hosting our website using our own servers so we have greater control throughout the system.
But because our servers are owned and managed by us, they are much smaller than others and may not be trusted because we are so small. Usually millions of websites share the same server, but we have decided not to.

      Thanks,
      Seb

      • get a real domain, and a static IP. Hosting on a dydns service just looks dodgy.
your cart doesn't work when I add items .. and no HTTPS nails that fact I would not buy from you.

And that is just the technical aspects - where's an ABN, real address?

        • +1

          Hi,
Our 'real' domain is http://sebnet.com.au - Our ABN and business address is attached to that, we then link to dyndns so we can use our own servers on a dynamic IP.
We are currently planning to upgrade our site using an external web host provider to get https support, however, at least at the moment we use PayPal for our online payment system, on checkout and when paying all details go through that system which is encrypted with SSL and thereby goes through https. So there is no customer data or payment information that is not encrypted on our site.

I'll have a look at the cart issue, but if you can, send me a screenshot and i'll have a look and try and get it working for you asap.

          Thanks,
          Seb

        • @SebNet: When I add products to the cart and go to the shipping info page there's already someone's full details there including address and phone number. Are these fake example details or those from the last person who checked out?

        • @tivoenator: Hi, This is our demo account for reference, although note that we are removing the cart system probably today just because it takes a bit slower for some orders to process.

          Thanks,
          Seb

  • Nice, saw similar to this one in one of display home belongs to Dennis Family Homes.
