    • Thanks. Post updated.

    • They've upped the price by $5 of this one. Sneaky!

And where does the $5 coupon come from?

I suspect the deal-killer for this puppy may be its CPU, which may not be capable of running all apps. Can anyone confirm or disprove?

    • It comes from their chat rep. You can chat with them and confirm.

      • A500KL is 4G model, this is not, I gather.
        Thanks for voucher info.

I have the zenfone6 and I can confirm there are a few apps which won't run on the x86 processor - I think I've come across three so far: VLC, Virgin In-flight Entertainment, and Zombie RT Trials. It's a compatibility thing, not a performance issue; GTA 3 runs perfectly.

EDIT: I upgraded to the latest firmware (1.17) the other day, and just checked those apps today and they work now - so the issue seems to be resolved.

The battery on the 6 is much bigger than the 5, so the 6 gets really good battery life. If by putting the phone on airplane mode while I sleep, I can go a whole weekend without charging it. I've heard the 5 only gets a single day - like most phones.

      • just a shame that flash wont work, which is what most catchup TV runs on, would be great for my wife, but that's a deal breaker…

      • The saddest part is despite the update many FPS games stutter a lot, I noticed this with the Z2560 and Z2580, seems to be an Intel thing…

        Here's an example @ 3:44 mins: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWE3cw-0LWI#t=3m44s

  • Will vendor ever offer its 4G version?

  • A501CG is 2 GB RAM / 16 GB version.
Does the 8 GB very have only 1 GB RAM?
GSMarena users say battery life sucks,
I say get an external power bank cheap,
    ie, direct from Hong Kong.

Why so much for shipping? (Low-end phones can/should ship for less than half the price charged here.)

The 32Gb Zenfone 6 for $239 at the same seller looks ok too.

    • you are correct. now i need find comparison between zenfone 5 and 6.

Here you go - not subjective, just feature by feature…

  • Has built in battery so what happens when battery dies. I have been looking to buy one of these $195 delivered for 16gig at dwidigitalcameras.com.au does any one know which is better seller and faster to deliver.

I bought moto g from eglobal few months back and it arrived in 3-4 days. Use coupon code that i mentioned in OP and it'll get $5 off from your order.

    • +2

By the time the battery dies you've probably dropped it / moved on to another phone

DWI are great, bought a bunch of camera stuff and all arrived safe and fast (ish)

  • I have the Acer A1 830 tablet with the same CPU. The tablet lag a bit sometime not sure because of the CPU or not enough ram.

    • 2GB RAM is sufficient. colleagues have the exact same phone. buttery smooth.

      • OK the A1-830 only with 1GB Ram may be that is the reason.

BTW this phone spec said dual sim but is this one dual sim?

        • It is dual (MICRO)sim. For the record, i have the 2.0GHz Z2580 2GB Ram version. Don't feel much difference because I don't play much games.

  • We are based in Hong Kong and deliver our orders directly from our warehouse located in Hong Kong. I guess most of these companies do that. They said if i order now should arrive on friday

Anyone seen this phone at any stores in Melbourne? Wouldn't mind seeing it before buying.

What's the camera like? I want to buy it for the wife and the only thing she cares about is the damn camera..

    • +1

I hear you!!! (and flash so she can watch catch up tv series)

  • Went to check out some taiwanese forums, battery life kills this phone, if you after a full day heavy use, avoid this phone, won't last a day at all.

If it saves you $20 or more, invest ~ $12-$15 of the savings on a PowerBank-style (ours claims to be 15,000 mAH (ie: 15 AH) but cost ~$12 incl S+H.

Of course, it means you'd be carrying 2 devices, instead of just 1, for long periods away from charger or mains power.

PS Is there a reliable Car charger for Android devices & Apple (of all requirements: eg, 1 Amp, 2.1 Amp & whatever iPad / iPhone need [eg: 12 Watts?] from a USB jack)?

  • I bought this phone from them arrived within 3 day after I place the order :)
heigh recommended eglobaldigitalcameras as on-line shop
    and the phone is awesome

  • Bought one…Thanks OP..

  • No black left please update link

  • Update: Got email from eglobal saying the ordered white one is out of stock. Anyone got the same?

    • hows your order now

      • cancelled:(

    • I got an email saying black was out of stock, and offering the red one instead

  • Given the low cost it looks like a great device.
Does anyone know if this comes with a higher output charger 1.5 amp +?

add: and this now has USB OTG which is a plus because my ASUS memopad hd7 does not.

  • I presume this is the Intel ver.? (Some reviews found it sluggish.).

A quad-core ver. is available, eg, from DWI: Au$ 235 shipped, with an 8 GB MicroSD card…
