  • So they sent me email saying green was out of stock, choose either orange or gold version for substitute…… So I pick orange and then sent my reply……. Next I get a e-mail congratulating me on my choice of "gold"…….. Ok then…….

    • They fixed quickly, good service thus far…. :)

  • -1

I am very unimpressed with Yatango so far. First they sent an email on 9 Sep saying green had run out and would I like gold instead. I replied saying yes, they took 2 days to action that and now have sent an email saying they expect to ship in 7 days. As these people seem to be connected to Mobileciti who made a friend wait for 2 months to deliver a Nokia 1020 I wonder if this is going the same way. All in all I'm glad I paid with Paypal. Also dont plan to anywhere near the Yatango website in the future.

In all fairness it says under the add to cart button

      In Stock, Ships 5-7 days

And when you click on that it says

This item is being restocked or is located in a secondary warehouse. Such items can take up to 3-7 days to be dispatched. Once shipped tracking details will be emailed to you.

And having this posted on ozbargain, they probably got a years worth of orders for the Galaxy Gear in a couple of days time.

      • -1

Its been 9 days since I ordered and my order still says "In fulfillment". Also it appears that the few that have received have received grey imports.

        • dont worry, yatango is indeed grey importer. i knew just after ordering as well

Ok now theres some fictional typhoon in Hong Kong apparently (a colleague is holidaying there right now and there is no typhoon) and they are blaming that for shipping delays. I have been promised shipping for the last two days, but watch has not been shipped yet. Why, oh why, did I get involved in this scam?

        • +1

@laser: Yeah, I have no idea why your colleague scammed you. There really was a typhoon in HK after all!

          http://www.smh.com.au/world/typhoon-kalmaegi-hits-hainan-aft…

A powerful typhoon has slammed into China's Hainan island after sweeping past Hong Kong where it disrupted flights and forced the closure of the stock market and container ports.

Typhoon Kalmaegi buffeted Hong Kong with gusts of up to 159 kilometres per hour as it barrelled west, injuring some 29 people, felling scores of trees and causing floods and a landslide.

The Hong Kong Observatory hoisted the number-eight cyclone warning - the third in a five-tier system - late on Monday, triggering the closure of schools and businesses.

@eug: Well they could have been upfront about being a HK based grey importer instead of being misleading with a .au website address. If they pretend to be a australian business, they should keep stock in AU at the very least, HK and typhoons would never have been an issue.

        • +2

          @laser:

Well they could have been upfront about being a HK based grey importer

Well.. their Help page clearly mentions it in no uncertain terms in multiple sections - check About Us, Delivery, Our Stock, and Do you charge GST.

          https://yatango.com.au/shopping/faq/

instead of being misleading with a .au website address.

Is it a requirement that businesses with .au addresses keep stock in Australia, or is it just something you mistakenly assumed was true?

If they pretend to be a australian business, they should keep stock in AU

It might come as a surprise to you, but you should have a look at stores like dwidigitalcameras.com.au, kogan.com.au, eglobaldigitalcameras.com.au, becextech.com.au, thinkofus.com.au, techrific.com.au, topbuy.com.au, and amazon.com.au.

It's quite normal for an importer to use a .com.au address. It signifies that it caters to the Australian market, not that it keeps stock locally.

        • @eug: And now more fun, they have shipped finally, but to the wrong address

        • @laser: What is the address on your emailed invoice?

        • I think I am just flogging a dead horse here, I have decided for the sake of maintaining sanity not to have anything to do with Yatango in the future. Sorry, eug, I am not giving out my address on a public forum. Luckily Toll have agreed to redirect the parcel.

        • @laser: Sorry, I meant, is the address on the emailed invoice correct? With everything being done electronically, it's uncommon for a big company to put the wrong address down on a package.

        • @eug: I initially had the watch addressed to my home as I was on leave that week. When it became apparent that there would be a large shipping delay I requested a change to my work address. I made the request via email and got a confirmation. I further reconfirmed by chat and pointed out that the address on the shipping notification still reflected my home address. The person on the chat said it had been changed internally and not to worry. Then I get a notification card from Toll couple of days later that they attempted delivery to my home. Luckily Toll are professional and agrred to reroute the delivery to my office address.
I also ordered a lime green, they sent an email saying lime green was not available from supplier and at the same time doubled the price of the lime green on the site. So is lime green available or not. Thoroughly dodgy mob.

  • I got 2 shipping notifications and tracking numbers overnight - looks like coming from Hong Kong via TOLL couriers

    • Same here. Two exactly same emails.
I didn't know I'm buying grey import until now… how is the warranty? With yatango?

      • yes free shipping and free returns

        • TOLL tried to deliver one of mine today. Should get both tomorrow.

  • I got mine today. Woo hoo

  • arrived, sealed but after opening, one serial number/registration sticker has been taken off - strange. so they open and reseal…also, flat battery.. charging now. came with NON australia charger, btw

    • They take a sticker so they have record of your purchase for warranty

    • Yes mine arrived with big non-AU charger plugs also.

    • Cant edit my comment above. The shipped overseas charger says 4.75 volts - its a shame its not a USB plug pack with a USB cable - but looks like my Samsung phone cable might fit.

Any problems charging a 4.75v (designed) watch, with a 5v feed from a computer USB port, or Samsung/Apple USB wall charger ? Its a 5% increase going from 4.75 to 5v which seems within safe limits.

      • The shipped overseas charger says 4.75 volts - its a shame its not a USB plug pack with a USB cable - but looks like my Samsung phone cable might fit.

I've only ever charged mine with a 5V charger. No problems at all.

  • People who have them are they new or used?

  • Mine was new.

The other sticker is on the side of the box.

  • I ordered this few days back and didnt receive the item. upon opening a dispute - they immediately refunded. wont shop with them again.

    • When you say you ordered but didnt receive the item, what do you mean ?

I ordered 2, the first was very soon after the deal was posted here, and it only arrived today (to be fair, they tried to deliver yesterday but no-one home - and they stated on the website before ordering, 5-7 days for stock to arrive to them).

Did you receive an order confirmation, and then shipping confirmation email ? I even got an email yesterday (and again today) to say my item was on board for delivery.

They are still available for order now - and to be honest I would consider ordering a 3rd one now - just to have an extra colour wear (I bought one as a present for someone else). I found their service to be very good.

I was surprised it only took a couple of days to go from Singapore to Brisbane (once they received stock).

      • Supposedly getting a shipping confirmation today….. If I was less reasonable on this I'd be feeling shitty about people already having theirs…… Looking forward to some reviews/min reviews on your experiences with the watch(hopefully someone tries null aswell)

        • What date/time did you order ?
I ordered first one, on Sunday arvo (7th Sept), and another early morning Monday (8th Sept). Both arrived yesterday, altho they tried to deliver the first one the day before.

My fiancée loves hers - she was really impressed with the camera and screen quality, and that it can take videos (15 secs), and she had a hands free conversation with her mum on it.

A few niggles - the weather doesnt show on my watch, but I think thats because I dont have the widget or something installed/set up on my custom ROM on my Note3.
The weather widget works fine on her watch (from her Note2 running stock ROM) however she is having trouble getting text notifications via GoSMSpro (3rd party message app). Notifications from the same app are coming through to my watch OK.
So we both have 1 thing not working, that works on the others.

        • @systmworks: 7th sept, Lime Green(Which became out of stock) now Orange…….
Edit: Just talked to customer rep, set for shipping tommorow…..sigh oh well getting closer

  • got issue already, still at stock rom, cant install any apps, always got this "installation failed. try later (0)"
    N7105 with DN3v5.5

    • installing by adb?

      • never tried…. seems too complicated for me.
but anyway, after numorous trial, reinstalling, etc and googling, finally able to install.
not many apps for stock rom, so maybe i will root and install null23 soon.

I successfully upgraded my watch to Tizen, although ran into a few problems in the process and thought I had bricked the watch for a while - but recovered and found a working solution.

If anyone wants to update to Tizen, this is what I suggest:

Tizen is the newer OS that the Gear2 comes with, which has quite a few extra features, like sleep tracking, ability to have 4 shortcuts per screen instead of endless sideways scrolling through 1 icon per screen, ability to set custom background photo, change watchface fonts and colours etc.

If anyone is running a custom ROM on their phone and finds their weather watchface doesnt display the weather, it means they are missing the Accuweather widget on their phone. I reflashed my ROM (Omega ROM) and from the interactive installer, chose to install this widget, and now weather works.

FYI re battery life - from 7AM this morning, to 9PM tonight, I used less than 50% battery on Android. Based on that, by turning the watch off overnight, I could get 2 full working days/evenings out of the watch.
I have since changed to Tizen, which hopefully will get me 2-3 days.

  • Finally Shipped YAY!!!!

My fiance and I have had our (rose gold, and orange) Gear's for 4 days now and we are both really happy with them!

Considering these watches were selling for upwards of $300 less than a year ago, and at ~$90 these cost close to half the price of a monochrome Pebble smartwatch and yet has 10 times more features, I rank this this is one of my best bargain buys of the year.

I have been wearing a Pebble every day for the past 18 months and until now was very happy with it - but the Gear has completely replaced it - in fact I have loaned it to a workmate to play with as I wont wear it again. I have even stopped wearing my Fitbit as my Gear is counting my steps too.

Charging the Gear every second day, rather than the Pebble every ~5 days, isnt a big deal. My only gripe is the watch is splashproof but not waterproof (and related to that, the camera lens can get some condensation on the inside).

TIP: if you find an old Blackberry charger lying around home/office (hundreds of thousands of them are going in the bin around the world) it is perfect for charging the Gear (5v mini USB connector).

I highly rate the upgrade to Tizen. There are also heaps of cool watchfaces in the Gear store - many are free but I also paid $2 to get a scrolling Matrix watchface that includes 3 adjustable app shortcuts, battery %, and available storage space.

    • TIP: if you find an old Blackberry charger lying around home/office (hundreds of thousands of them are going in the bin around the world) it is perfect for charging the Gear (5v mini USB connector).

It's a micro USB socket so any micro usb phone charger will do.

      • Thanks for the correction, my brain meant micro but my fingers typed mini :/

        • I had a Pebble before the Gear too. I found the Gear much better for my use. Charging every day isn't a big deal as I simply charge it at the same time as my phone. My Pebble's battery life went down the toilet since the 2.0 update, for some reason. I had to charge it every night. The Gear's charging 'jacket' was much easier to snap on than the Pebble's fiddly weak magnetic connector too.

I've since switched to a Gear Live and still miss the speakerphone and sometimes, the camera. I sure hope Android Wear adds support for that one day.

  • thanks for the review guys! planning to root and try null23 tomorrow, with stock rom not much apps/things to play with.

  • I just got mine today had shipped on the 18th. It's new though some of the metal on the clasp has tarnished already not to worried though. My order status was 'closed' the whole process which is weird. I really want tizen on mine, reading some forums its a bit hit and miss.

    • hit and miss of? functionality or how to flash it? to install is easy, but im still playing with null rom atm so cant comment but if i remember correctly, you can flash via kiess or manually via odin.

      • On tizenexpert some said it didn't work out nearly bricked.

    • Just see my comment above (dated 17/9) with instructions/links/video on how to install Tizen.

I flashed a second one of these to Tizen yesterday, and it only took a few mins and went very smoothly via Odin (which I already had on my PC from flashing my Note3).

The only "gotcha" is to flash the older CNE9 first, as latest CNF1 fails to flash over Android.

Oh, also to download the 2 firmware files, you need to allow a few hours, as the free download host will only allow 1 download per 2 hours and its slow.

      • Thanks for that

  • Hi guys, will this charge with a non-samsung micro usb? I know I had charging my nexus 5 at my mates place on a samsung charger?

    • Yes, I've only ever charged it with a non-Samsung micro USB charger.

      • cool thanx :)

  • some people still dont know ozbargain.com.au….
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Samsung-Galaxy-Gear-Watch-Jet-Bla…
incl shipping, currently at $107. second hand

    • Yeah but its black tho… Id much prefer black to bright orange, but chose orange because the black is $219 (or $204 after discounts) so second hand for ~half the price is reasonable.

      • i see fair enough.
for me if all have same price i will pick any but black :)

Am i the only one that is yet to receive my watch? Or even notification of it being shipped? Still "in fulfillment".

    • Really ? Have a talk with their live online chat people via the website and see if you can escalate it.

      • Their online chat people are incompetent, they have multiple chat windows open at a time and often post information into the wrong chat window. They dont care a rats about your order.

        • You are still waiting for your gear, I take it laser….?
