Canon 70D (Body Only) $911.25 at JB Hifi after Canon redemption

150

I finally jumped on the Canon 70D wagon yesterday using this method.
I just thought I'd share this in case anyone is looking for a 70D (body only) deal at the moment. Unfortunately the deal ends tomorrow.

  • Canon have a $150 cash rebate.
  • Cheapest local "store" price I could find (body only): $1,132 (Digital camera warehouse).
  • JB Hifi have a 5% off in store coupon until Sunday 14th of September (just sign up for their instant deals on their webpage and they will send an email containing a coupon) https://www.jbhifi.com.au

Went down to JB, got them to price match to Digital Camera House. At the checkout, hand over the coupon for an extra 5% discount. This was $70.75.

$1,132
-$150
-70.75=

$911.25 for a local body with local warranty (please note that you'll have redeem the $150 direct with Canon and you'll have to wait up to 30 days for Canon to EFT the payment to you).

I think the JB Hifi 5% discount was calculated on the original JB price ($1,415) rather than the price matched value.
I hope this helps someone.

  • Darn, I didn't know about the 5% coupon and just bought my D7100 on Thursday…

  • +1

70D vs D7100 which is better?

  • If you don't mind grey stock & int. warranty you can get it here for ~$819.24 tomorrow from eBay sellers after 15% off (discount capped at $100 from $665) + 2% Cashrewards cashback on full price. [938x0.85]+[938x0.02]=819.24]. Cheapest I've seen for grey stock anywhere since release.

    • That's a good idea as well. I've purchased grey imports before and have no problem with them, but I preferred the 2 year Canon Aus warranty this time around. I'll put the ebay deal to another good use though ;)

    • Be careful of ordering the camera online from overseas though.. If customs checks, you'll get whacked with tax, and that won't be cheap!

      • Not if its under $1000.

        • They don't look at the price you buy it at, rather what it's value is. They would value the 70D at over $1k.

        • @kirynflare: Its the declared value they use to determine, not what they think it is.. Every company I've dealt with obviously use the purchase price as the declared value.

      • Camera Paradise guarantee that you won't have this problem. They dispatch first to their own distribution centre in AU, then from there to you.
I still think that in this instance and for this camera, I'd rather the 2 year local warranty that canon AU include for the $.
