if its this price on ebay tomorrow i'll have to smash one with the 15% off deal

    • is it in the bay kogan store though? i could only find the LG G2

  • +2

I have this phone. I was less than impressed to see that the 'built in wireless charging' is actually 'built into' the rear cover. Works fine etc, but not every back cover has it, so if you go the Australia retail quick circle case (peddled hard by LG marketing, and actually pretty good) then it loses its wireless charging functionality.

    • +1

but otherwise fantastic phone, no complaints

    • Is The battery life as good as lg g2?
      Thanks

      • +9

No, due to G3's 2K display, but still G3 lasts longer than iPhone 6 IMO.

        • +21

"still G3 lasts longer than iPhone 6 IMO"

Surely its a little early for comments like this? Do you have an iphone 6?

        • +1

          @Rnewton4:

You don't need an iphone 6 to get all that android fanboi karma!

PS: I'm an android fanboi… please upvote :P

battery life is so subjective, but comparing it to me nexus 4 and samsung G3, for my personal type of usage - i used to run the battery down to below 20% nearly every day on the nexus and SG3. I dont think I've changed any usage pattern, but consistently have 50% battery on my LGG3 at the end of the day. and that includes having 4G whereas the other two were only 3G (i understand 4G signal causes a lot more battery drain) so might even see more improvement if i turned that off.

so for me - much better than those phones. G2 - not sure exactly.

      • +1

Sup, I bought 3GB model ~1 month ago and get 2 days of moderate use from it. Really love the phone. Everything is awesome and I have no complaints.

      • +5

Have had G2 and S5 as daily drivers. Now on G3 for good.

Battery isnt as good as G2 but i manage to get thru fully day without worrying about juice. I am a pretty heavy user 4GB of data a month.

Definitely better battery than S5. S5 lasts me to about dinner time only. G3 lasts till bed time.

So my measurement scales and rating are based on full charge at dawn.

G2 mid morning next day > G3 late late night > S5 dinner time.

    • If you put a case around it, will it still work? Also, is the charging pad included or sold separately?

      • Depends on the case but most will work.

Charger not included for free in Aus. (It was in Korea and recently the US).

Other charging docks, pads etc work too.

  • This or OPO 64 GB?

    • +4

Or wait for nexus 6…. Decisions!

      • ^ This unless you are a phone right this moment. The OPO is a great phone but because its price through available sources is much higher than rrp it puts it up against many local brand names. The Nexus 6 rumors sound promising

        • Have you heard anything about available memory? I find 32gb is not enough!

        • @ory_zm:

I read there might be a 64 gb version, but at this stage you can probably can take most supposed leaked information with a grain of salt.

      • +2

Hah! I'm in exactly the same boat. Tempted to pull the trigger on an OPO this Sunday.

        • Had the OPO for two weeks. Great phone. Awesome battery. Easy to change the Chinese versions to cyanogen mod. My only fault is that it is a huge phone, larger than the note 3. So if you were after a smaller size, the LG would be the way to go.

However, I got my 64gb chinese OPO for $440 so I can't complain

        • @fugu: Can you put Touchwiz on the 1+1? I know this sounds crazy to most people but I actually like Touchwiz.

        • Negligible in size really…

          G3: 146.3 x 74.6 x 8.9 mm
          OPO: 152.9 x 75.9 x 8.9 mm
          Note 3: 151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3 mm

  • LG G3 or Galaxy note 3? Samsung is little more expensive but has the stylus.

    • +1

The former has better camera and design.

      • +3

I have the Note 3, my misses has the G3. I'd prefer the G3. I never use the stylist to be honest, I thought I would… G3 is an amazing phone, truely inlove with the G2 though it seems backwards but if a good price comes up with the G2 I'll probably buy it and sell my Note 3.

      • Note 4 which should be out soon, and also has the 2K screen.

        • Again, good screen resolutions. No content… People go out buy 4K TV's. Show me a movie in 4K, none.

    • Galaxy S5

      • I will not buy the S5 specifically because it has a gimmick pulse reader. It's just a silly thing no one really uses, you can't make 'noise' because it'll change the results. It's a gimmick, and that money, and space could have been utilised for something a lot better…

        • That's silly, even without the pulse reader you're getting an awful lot for your money… In fact you're getting the most balanced flagship of 2014.

  • LG G3 or LG G Pro 2?

  • or just shrink down to the new 5" G3 beat for just over $300 … very hard to decide …

  • +1

Tempted… Not appearing on eBay Kogan though, so no 15% off…

    • -1

It'll actually be 17% off combined with the 2% cashback eBay offer from CashRewards.com.au - The best part is you get a 2% off the entire sale price not the discounted price after the 15% has been deducted.

      • But it's not on their ebay store! Gah

  • How's this against the Sony Xperia Z2?

  • At only $50 more for >100% effective storage and possibly useful >50% RAM, I suspect that's the real deal.

I think I'll hold onto my Nexus 4 until we see the 64bit LG, but this is pretty good considering it's the 'it' phone in terms of reviews for shipped phones right now.

Surely Mr Kogan's going to offer this deal on his eBay store too, to get lots of extra sales…

  • The phone actually lags unfortunately, possibly due to the QHD screen + only 2GB of ram.
If the price of the 3GB version comes down it'd be worth it.

    • +2

Define lag. It is not like ZTE entry level 50 dollars phone type of lag. It has flagship snapdragon cpu its plenty fast and smooth for me.

Just thought it should be clarified before people think its a slow phone which it definitely isnt.

      • I didn't mean it was slow, it's more like the framrate being lower.
I have recent HTC and Sony flagships so don't tell me I don't know how powerful the highend Snapdragon CPUs are.
I tried the G3 at a Voda shop and it was lagging when I was simply swiping through the app drawer, I don't know if it was just that particular phone.

        • +2

Never compare to the display models…
The amount of crap people put onto it will slow it down heaps.
Plus the display model restrictions placed on it…

      • I can vouch for the fact that the UI performance on the G3 is pretty average. I've gone back to using a nexus 5

  • iphone 6+ or lg g3?

    • +7

LG G3 for sure mate !!

      Best value for money.

      • +4

        Better Screen (QHD)

        Extra 2GB of RAM

Better Camera with 4K Video Recording

OIS+ (compare to OIS only on iPhone6+)

        Wireless Charging

        Removable Battery

        Inbuilt Call Recording Feature

        SD Card SUPPORT

Nearlly half the price, Provided you buy one from Grey Import

  • +4

good price, great phone, sh!ts on iphone 6

  • I own the G3, its a great phone, but I think the QHD screen is an utter waste, I can't see the difference between it and a FHD screen, yet the G3 is unnecessarily drawing extra power and resources because of it.

    • Yeh that seems to be the only flaw..

      • Pretty big flaw, stopped me from getting it. Hope they get it 100% right next time, it is painful to see every manufacture make a mistake stopping their flagships from being "the best" in 2014.
