[EBAY 15% OFF] Sony A6000 w/16-50mm Lens Kit Black $708.95 (after Sony $100 Cashback) @ Paxtons

110
CELEBRATE15

I was in the market for an a6000 and saw this offer from the Paxtons ebay store. I think it is the best price for the a6000 up to this point. It is the kit with the 16-50 power zoom lens included in black colour.
It is stated in the ebay listing that it is eligible for the $100 Sony cashback so it must be AU stock.

Price is AU$898.95+$10 (shipping) - $100 (with ebay CELEBRATE15,capped at 100$)= $808.95. After the Sony cashback, it comes to $708.95 which is very good value for this camera and the lowest I have seen it go for in OzB.

  • max ebay discount (CELEBRATE15) is $100. so your calcs are incorrect!

  • Hey OP, I think a maximum discount of $100 applies to each transaction, so you may want to redo the calculation. =)

  • You are absolutely right. Corrected but still the best price at 709 I think.

    • Thanks for this, hope it works out as it's potentially a great deal (see my comments below). They've since lowered the price slightly so it should now equate to $696.95 (provided that Sony comes to the party).

  • Good price for a very good camera. Love my Nex6 and this is generally better.

  • Actually cheaper on eBay from other sellers. After 15% Ebay sale, it comes for under $650 but not necessarily Australian Stock.

  • I contacted the Sony Alpha Cash Back Promotion helpline and am left with the impression that they won't accept claims for eBay purchases. Perhaps the consultant misunderstood when I stated that it's the eBay shop-front for an authorised participating Sony Australia dealer.

Surely they shouldn't have an issue if you provide them with an ABN and it's AU stock. Any thoughts?

I just rang the Sony hotline. I asked them whether Paxtons was OK. She said fine. Then I asked if online store was OK. She said fine. Then I said Paxtons had an online store on ebay. She said "No. No ebay". I said "this is a participating store on ebay". She said "No ebay, no ebay". I made it clear that we are talking about Paxtons, not just another ebay seller. She just parroted "no ebay, no ebay". So make of it what you want. Either she's making it clear that you can't claim the cashback even if it is Paxtons, or the woman misunderstood it as another question about ebay sellers and as soon as she heard ebay, she shut down and repeated "no ebay, no ebay". She didn't clarify with an explanation and didn't say anything more even after I prompted her. My feeling is that ebay is a no go.

      • That's more or less how my conversation with Sony went. I cannot see anything in the T&Cs which precludes eBay purchases specifically and I'm really not interested in trying to argument with them in case they really have some issue with purchases off eBay.

I'm still unsure as Sony states one thing and Paxton's another, which is why I've sent an inquiry earlier today to Paxton's after phoning them and not feeling overly impressed with the level of reassurance given to me. I'm hoping to receive a response from them tomorrow.

I also noticed that it's selling for $849 elsewhere so I'm thinking to rather play it safe and get it for $749 from another dealer.

  • I purchased this exact camera recently. It is awesome.

FYI, in the camera box, there may be an expired voucher from June/July for $30 off accessories.
If you call up Sony and say your were disappointed it expired they will extend it for you.
I ended up purchasing a spare battery and an external charger.
(This camera can charge battery with a micro USB cable in camera)

Also, there are some great deals on the lenses at the moment. (Were cheaper than Amazon even, last I chaecked)

55 to 210 Zoom, I purchased this for $199 (RRP $499)at JB Hi Fi (no link for JB)

For the portrait lens $195.80 (RRP $399) sees to be the best deal around and Videopro have free delivery

    • Can you still take photos while the camera is plugged into the external charger you bought? If so whats the model number of that charger please.

    • Given a Sony battery is $99 or thereabouts you've done extremely well getting that plus a charger for $30. Care to share how you did it Deal88?

      • Some of the boxes for Sony cameras have a $30 OFF voucher in them that expired. If you call up Sony they will extend the voucher expiry so you can use it.

This would result in $30 off a battery, not a $30 battery.

I actually purchased the battery and charger combo, I think this was $119, so ended up paying $89 and you get free postage.

      • I just realized you have probably read $30 of accessories, not $30 OFF which is what I wrote. Your question now makes sense.

        • Yeh sorry. I got what you were saying after reading your later post. Sony camera batteries are ridiculously expensive.

  • Also FYI, Costco has this camera for $1079.99 with the extra zoom lens (Zoom is $199 at JB hi Fi)
So this is a much better deal.

  • I bought this camera at Camera House with the portrait lens but no standard lens for $920. $200 for the lens and $720 for the A6000 body only. It is also eligible for the $100 cashback. I'm very happy with my purchase.

    • My understanding is that the a6000 body would be eligible. You will need to go to the Sony website to confirm.

Yep, camera house manager checked with sony and they confirmed the purchase of the body only is eligible for the cashback.
