Price is good, Monitor isnt bad, but viewing angles are still why i always go IPS..
So much nicer laying in bed watching a show on an IPS. Those laying down angles are a non issue.
I use a Full HD Dell 27" IPS that i got from MSY for $299 ..My next upgrade will be an affordable 4k IPS larger then 27" but smaller then 37"

Extended by 24 hours, because eBay was down worldwide for a couple of hours.

      • Awesome thanks I think that deserves a separate post in its own right. I didn't know it was extended

  • Thanks EC for the post.

Got 2 more deals that may be of interest for those that want to make full use of the ebay 15% OFF.

Sandisk Ultra Plus 256GB SSD - $114.75 Free Shipping

    &

    Samsung 24" S24D590 PLS LED monitor - $208.25
PLS is Samsung's IPS version monitor giving good view angle and ultra sharp images.

    Cheers

    • Rep, how does this compare with Dell Ultrashap 24 inch?

      • The Samsung screen is a PLS, the Dell is an IPS.

Dell would have better colour depth, viewing angles, the ability to do portrait mode by default, and most Dells are 8ms GTG refresh rates with pixel overdrive (some people hate this).

        http://www.pcauthority.com.au/Review/385917,review-dell-ultr…

Samsung appears to be a 5ms GTG RFR, and slightly less favorable viewing angles, and apparently might be OC'able to 72HZ…which wouldn't translate to much on a PLS/IPS screen (IIRC its about a 30% loss on PLS/IPS vs TN panels).

        http://wecravegamestoo.com/forums/monitor-reviews-discussion…

Input lag is negligible on both (if you even care).

Also note: Dell has DisplayPort and a USB 3.0 HUB, the Samsung only has 1 x VGA and 2 x HDMI outputs

Edit: apparently the Samsung does have 178 degree viewing angles, but some reviews have said otherwise - http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/pc-peripherals/monitor/st…

        • Thanks, I think I will wait for Dell when they have the discount. Try to dissuade myself from buying one actually as I don't really need it.

Nice price for a 28" at 4K but there are issues mentioned in past thread about this monitor
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/160946
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5YXWqhL9ik

Linus Tech said the colours are not completely uniform, stand is wobbly and stand adjustment is very limited, no VESA mount bracket etc.

    • Stand cannot adjust, adjusting it involves bending the metal bracket attached to the monitor that slots into the stand.

Stand is not wobbly if put together properly, I thought it would be myself but its pretty solid unless you are really shacking it around, and why the heck would you do that? General table bumps don't really do anything.

Colors, thats the part I'm trying to work out. I was a little lazy with my tuning and currently not running it at 4k. The desktop icons colors are as clear as I would have liked, however, once I open up an application they look very crisp.
League of Legends looked very nice (used it due to the massive amount of colors across champions and maps) as does Heroes of the Storm. Within games themselves, colors, models and textures look beautiful. But for some reason, desktop icons just don't, they look a little washy/over saturated/pixely (again, I was a little lazy with my tuning and I am not running the monitor at 4k yet).

Great monitor at this price, I got mine for $500 and it really is a very nice monitor.

  • This is very tempting… I think that I should wait for newer models to come out which take advantage of DP 1.3.

  • should this have expired by now?

  • Can anyone confirm this is still available? Will buy right now but don't want to "commit to buy" on ebay if the coupon doesn't work.
