  • sorry if this is a dumb question but what does the "pendant" do?

    • +1

There's a link to it above, don't be lazy: http://www.uniden.com.au/australia/default_print.asp?product…

      • i didn't see it, sorry.

    • The Emergency Pendant allows your call for help to be answered by people of your choice. Once the help button is pressed the pendant will first call the internal home phone system intercom so that someone in the house may be notified that help is required. If unanswered, the pendant will call up to 5 different phone numbers of your choice.

      • ahh cool, thank you.

  • I considered this emergency call unit a while back. Good price.

Have a Vitalcall installed for my elderly Father. But it is expensive subscription service because it is monitored. If pendant is pressed, alarm sounds in the house, an operator asks if help is required. If no answer or help is required, an ambulance is dispatched, operator stays on line to provide assistance. (Cost of this service may be subsidised or made free by Governments if absolutely necessary. It saves them money by keeping people in the home instead of expensive aged care or hospitals. Ambulance call out is not charged in Queensland, paid already through other charges.)

So this is a cheaper alternative. As long as there is someone in the house or someone to take the call (if the person in emergency is away from phone, you may not know why you received call - unless unit has recorded message?). There will be false alarms if pendant is accidentally pressed - best to ring back to check.

As I am the only one looking after my Father & I'm regularly out of Australia, this was not suitable. But would suit people who are caring for others, people with severe illness, people in fear of attack (e.g. AVOs).

The service I have installed gives peace of mind, & let's me travel guilt free. It's never been used in an emergency in over 10 years, but is checked once a month by my Father pressing the pendant.

  • Thanks, great price.

  • I think Not a Cool Enough item for the Brodens ( read: too hard to sell ).
