    Who told you that?

I am told this is the normal price

I'm told this is an inflated price!

If I had an iPhone, I would get SwiftKey for free.

I thought iOS users didn't like choice. "Here's yer keyboard, enjoy!"

    • Looks like iOS8 has opened this up now and Apple is not forcing you to use their crappy keyboard. Now, if only Microsoft can do that with their Windows Blah, then it will be good.

      • -5

I'd guess Apple hasn't "opened up" by choice. They want swipe but don't want yet-another-copied-from-Android feature, so 'opening' a keyboard API is really just a way of adding functionality without doing it themselves.

Google copied the entire iOS operating system, the layout, the transitions, the fact it was a touch screen vs the QWERTY keyboard they had in their early pre release models so before you start throwing stones look at the actual history of smart phones. Apple released the iPhone in early 2007, Android and its OS which Google didn't even create was purchased by Google in mid 2006, their early development phones didn't even have a touch screen until "after" LG and Apple released touch screen phones in 2007…. Who gives a toss who copied who, the fact that both sides get benefits from the others creativity helps the consumer get a great experience. How boring would it be to have one vendor selling one phone?

@hotzone: You're right I know nothing about the actual history of smart phones. Apple and the iPHone were the pioneers. PalmOS, Windows Mobile, Windows CE, Blackberry, hell let's not even look at the entire Japanese computer phone market. You're right, Apple invented it all. I'm so naive.

Why the hell would I swype (swipe??) when I can type????

    • +3

Some would argue… Why the hell would you type when you can swype (swipe)?

    What is the normal price?

    • +1

      $1.29

      • +2

US$0.99 in US app store, even :-)

  • +1

This is just the normal price. Putting "bargain" in the title doesn't make it so.

    • +2

No. I do not think it is going to be the "normal price". Swype Keyboard price history on AppBrain — it was $3.99 on Google Play Store most of the year until about a month ago. If Play Store price is of any indication ($0.99 introduction price, going up to $1.99 then $3.99), you might see price increase on iTunes App Store as well.

Wow, Swype is basically missing ALL the useful things from the Android version - particularly the copy/paste shortcuts, language switching, voice dictation (apparently Apple doesn't allow microphone access to 3rd party keyboards according to their FAQ), etc.

A vastly inferior product to their Android app. Very frustrating to use, as a seasoned Swype user.
