I have tried this with a non HSBC card and it seams to work. Coupon is generic doesn't check the card.
Haven't checked into the hotel yet.
Must pay full price up front.

  Thanks! Was just holding back booking hotel waiting for discounts, perfect timing!

  FYI I think you need HSBC card to receive the code as shown here

  I have looked into the T&C and HSBC was not mentioned anywhere, so I assume we have a case if anyone refuse to honor it if you do not pay with a HSBC card. Check it out here

  I don't understand this busing must pay full price price upfront.

  Are you just saying that it can not be used with the pay at hotel.option? Because the t&c seem to.indicate that the discount is taken off when you pay online.

    You have to pay expedia as it seems like the promotion is offered by HSBC and Expedia, and if you paying at the hotel maybe expedia doesn't get a cut/as big of a cut? If you pay expedia you have to pay at time of booking, but there's always free cancellation up and until the day before checking in or something, so if you seem any better deal can always cancel :)

  I was able to book a few hotels using this coupon in conjunction with the cashback provided on www.cashrewards.com.au - so you might want to give that a go as well.

  note that you can combine the code with a price match:

  7 In relation to the Expedia Price Match, while the coupon code may be used in conjunction with a booking made once the Expedia call centre representative has confirmed the eligibility of a Price Match claim, the coupon code cannot be used to reduce the value of a booking for the purpose of making a Price Match claim.

  so don't forget to do your research :)
