Hong Kong Return Ex Sydney $239.60/ Tokyo Return Ex Sydney $299 via Manila with Cebu Pacific

641

Edit: Please see comments below as it may require many days between legs so will only suit some.

Just in addition to the $143 flight to Manila posted by Seamonkey (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/163141), they have 1p domestic and International flights out of Manila. I did a couple of quick test routes for return to Hong Kong and Tokyo and including taxes it came to 3805.29p ($96.60) for Hong Kong and 6131.05p ($156) for Tokyo. So if you add this to the Manila leg, return to Hong Kong would be $239.60 and Tokyo $299. This was just a quick search so you may get a little cheaper.

Travel period for Manila - Hong Kong/Tokyo routes as it it for Sydney - Manila is 1 Jan - 31 Mar 2015.

Other international destinations include:

Bali,Bangkok, Beijing, Brunei, Busan, Dubai, Guangzhou, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Hong Kong, Incheon, Jakarta, Kota Kinabalu,
Kuala Lumpur, Macau, Osaka, Phuket, Shanghai, Siem Reap, Singapore, Taipei, Xiamen, Dammam, Kuwait, Nagoya and Riyadh. So pick your destination and list your prices in the comments for everyone to see. Once again, thanks to Seamonkey for the post of the cheap Manila flights.

    unbelievable price

Absolutely ridiculous. I found some fares to HK for ~$180 total..

  • I don't get it. All the fares I'm finding are around the $447 mark ONE WAY. Anything I'm doing wrong?

    • +2

Book the Sydney-Manilla flights separate to the Manilla-HK flights.

    • +1

You need to purchase each fare separately I believe, which makes it quite a bit annoying especially if you are travelling with lugguage :( However, it is still ridiculously cheap.

      • +1

Yeah just did a quick search and as I mention below requires many days between legs. Updated post so people are aware.

        Thanks guys, worked it out.

Really good prices but Jesus they make you run through some hoops!

Good I suppose if you want to travel around asia for a month or two but not anyone who needs to be anywhere in a rush.

      Syd - Manila 17 Jan $95 Return 3 Mar $45
Manila - Hong Kong 28 Jan 1p (excluding taxes) Return 27 Feb 1p (excluding taxes). That was just a quick search but it looks like fares a running out quick.

My goal is to one day spend a good chunk of time in Manila so I can get a bunch of these 1 peso flights.

There's nothing during the 2 weeks in Feb that I'll be in Manila. Maybe next time.

EU lifts ban on Cebu Pacific, allows budget airline in European skies
    April 10, 2014

The EU blacklisted Philippine carriers in 2010 after the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) classified the Philippine aviation industry as "a significant safety concern." CAAP failed to comply with safety standards that ICAO required.

ICAO scrapped this classification in March last year, prompting the EU to lift the ban on PAL. Jointly owned by tycoon Lucio Tan and diversified conglomerate San Miguel Corporation, PAL started direct flights to London in November.

The EU however kept other local carriers on its blacklist, saying "progress [was] still needed to reach effective compliance."

EU Ambassador to the Philippines Guy Ledoux said then that accidents involving Cebu Pacific planes showed some weaknesses.

    Cebu Pacific
    Safety rating : 4/7
    Product rating : 3/5

    • Sounds like the new Garuda

    • Guys don't gloss over the link above. Your cheap flight may not be so cheap with the first review stating that they spent over double as even water was extra. Add the safety concerns and it boggles the mind why so many are okay with this. No wonder the airlines can get away with horrible service and squeezing people into tiny seats!

I should have listened to u. I booked Sydney to Manila first, then booked Osaka to Manila. It's actually $650 without bag and food (as I thought I may change my mind or buy the luggage fair when boarding). It'll end up by about $700-750 after seats booking, food, luggage. Yes everything will need extra money. Still…sounds a ok deal?

After I found a time mistake, it took me 5 days to reach someone, the contact form doesn't work. I finally called the hotline but the line was crap I can't even hear and hardly understand the girls talk. Then I struggled to hear an email address suppose to work, unfortunately the person who replied me just copied and pasted their terms & conditions every time I repeat my issues.

        NEVER NEVER AGAIN!

    Wow thats cheap!

considering I'm sitting in manila airport at the Cebu transfer desk after they just stuffed my transfer to Hong Kong, I cannot stress this enough - avoid these guys like the plague.

    Just checked their site:

On time percentage during August was 75%. That's a fair risk of missing your connecting flight if you buy the fares separately

    Sigh… takes out wallet

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this would probably be a cost effective method for people who might not necessarily want to travel to manila as their primary destination, but it would be a cheap way to get to Asia(and pay lower fares I.E. to destinations such as HK and Malaysia). Does anyone here plan to do this? I'm thinking of using this deal to travel to HK(6N), Malaysia(4N) and Manila(3N)

Would be an amazing way. Plus Manila is lovely city and you can fly to beautiful domestic islands such as Boracay and Palawan for very cheap as well. :)

      • Boracay or Palawan?

        • If your a party person choose Boracay but if you want relaxing beaches without too much crowd and partying then palawan is the place. Both are awesome places.

Hm, dates are filling up. How would one week in Manila be..oh, ok, referring to the main post on the promo. XD

    • +1

Don't be worried if you don't get it. Cebu pacific have sale promos on every few weeks.

  • does this fare include airport taxes? I thought Syd/HK airport taxes (direct route) charges about $280 alone. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • theres a riot in hong kong it's quite dangerous to go now. thats why prices down.

    • I don't think the student protest is dangerous at this stage. Check smart traveller though.

    • Not quite the same level of danger as say, a riot in Karachi.

  • I would be hesitant in using NAIA as a transfer airport. that place is an absolute mess.

  • Its just so difficult to book through online. This is not first time but anytime I want to have a search
