BOSE QC 3 Noise Cancelling on-Ear Headphones ONLY $359

30

I've been looking at this BOSE headphone for awhile. This original price is around $450!

Not sure when's the end date of the sale but i think it has something to do with the Myer Electrical Sale: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/163552

Go to your local Myer store if they're selling BOSE headphones, this one don't normally sell out so must have stocks. Otherwise just go officeworks or jbhifi to do price beat.

Cheers

That's a very big 'only' for $359 headphones!

    • know when this deal ends?

Note that the recently released QC25 model is only $40 more. This model a quite a few years old now.

    • Damn, the QC25s look good… I think that's the replacement for the QC15s because it was suppose to be an Over-ear design. ANC is also better then the QC20s as well… apparently.

    • The QC25 replaces the QC15.
The QC3s are more on ear, vs over ear.

    • With the QC3's if your batteries run out and you can't switch on ANC, the headphones won't work. They have addressed that with the QC25's. The headphones will work without ANC (i.e. without power). The other difference is QC3's on ear and QC25's around ear.

      • I've had QC3s and never had a problem with that. They come with two rechargeable batteries (one needed at a time) that last about 20 hours each.

        I wouldn't consider it a pro or a con.

The major difference, as you pointed out, is the design between on ear or over ear.

    • dont they (over the ear headphones) get really warm after using it for awhile on ear? that's why i prefer this even though it's old. hmm

      • yes, AE's do get pretty warm and I have been looking at getting a set of Bose on-ear's as well. I have heard the QC 3's are worth it if you fly alot due to their excellent ANC. They retail for USD319. With tax (NYC) at 8.875% and 28 degrees' current exchange rate of 87 cents, it works out to be AUD 399 so this is a decent price. Haven't used one myself and I am more focused on sound quality, so I can't say if Bose is justified in charging $300 for these.

If I didn’t have a set of ANC headphones already (Jabra C820s), then I would be happy to spend the money on the Bose that suited. I tried the QC20s on a recent trip to Germany, and they had awesome noise cancelation and convenient as hell in their small size compared to the big cases for the regular cans. Their sound production was too low in the level department, and lacked impact for bass reproduction. As a reference, my Jabras allow me to watch inflight movies with the audio on level 1. For the QC20s, the level was above 50%, similar when watching on my laptop. I found the in ear to be preferable as well, far more comfortable over many hours.
Even with their issues, if I was buying a set of ANCs now, it would be the QC20s. You can by form Bose Aus and they offer a 21 day return policy. That is what I did, purchased them from Bose store, tried them and returned. If they were massively better than my Jabras, I would have kept them. They were far superior for noise cancelling, but not in sound production, so I couldn’t justify replacing something that works well already.

        • @snuke: Im intended to use it for at least 6 hours for travelling or work. i hate these over the ear headphones get very warm. Im thinking either this QC3 or i20(in ear) at the moment. Hmm decision decision.

        • @nickolaslim:

Test them, it costs you nothing and lets you choose the right ones. Although far from perfect, I really liked the QC20s.

    • Different range though.

QC25 replaces QC15. QC3 is still the best around for on-ear fit.

  • Do you guys know when would the new noise-cancelling headphone is coming out?

    • The new QC25's are already available.

  • I am looking to buy a pair of the QC25's today actually, would be nice to find a deal posted on here before I do this :)

  • No highs no lows, must be Bose

    • No jet engine roar, must be Bose.

  • I'll take no jet engine roar any day of the week.

  • Anyone know when this deal ends?

  • Apparently the deal is still going on the QC3s and the QC20i is also on sale according to this OzB post. See my comment over there regarding my love of the QC3s.
