It was 6.99 a kilo on Tuesday (and all last week's catalogue period)

    • +3

which is approximately the same when you subtract $10 from a 2.2kg roast.

    • +3

Agree, they are always selling for around $6.99 - $7.99 per kilo so not sure how $10 off is supposed to be a saving. I assume it's the same quality of meat here.

    • $7.44kg here so not much more

all depends on how small the cut you get is. I got a 1.7kg one this morning. paid $11 instead of $21. almost half price. Different if you get a 3kg leg

      • Yeah I think different size cuts in store

  • Aldi $9/kilo every day

    • Gee i don't know about the Woolies ones ,but the last one i got from Aldi- so so fatty(not me -the meat ;))

      • did u get one of the last ones? one reason may be because aldi dont stock so many so u might have got the one that nobody wants.

last time I was at aldi - there was a lady there picking through 30 packets of bacon to find the best one lol.

did you slip her an ozbargain business card and tell her "You're not alone. There are people here who can help you"?

        • That was me.

        • The $5 a kilo bacon at aldi has 2 different cuts, shortcut and middle, she was probably looking for the shortcut ones which most were already taken.

        • @carwashhair:

You know, why I am out buying anything liquid in a see through bottle. I will actually go around and try to find the one thats filled up more….

        • @garratt torlesse:

Do you know, the numbers on the bottom of glass (mainly alcohol) bottles (with a 'mm' usually printed after them), actually denote the level from the top of the bottle the liquid should be filled to, to make up the stated package amount? Better take a tape measure next time, to be thorough!

  • Tempted to buy 4.4 kg's get my 4 cents off but still got some left from last time it was $6.99

At my local Woolworths they had legs of lamb priced at the special price from last week ($7.99/kg) and non sale price from this week …all are $10off. I got 2.2kg at $7.99/kg which was $17.50 minus $10 so total was $7.50…very cheap for a very large leg of lamb!!
    Dinner sorted :)

    • Got 2 at this price too - @Woolies QV - Melbourne

2.6kg costs me only 70 cents!

At my local Woolworths (Toowong, QLD), I got 2.6kg (almost no fat!) at $7.99/kg (the last weeks special price) which was $20.7 minus $10 so total was $10.7. I have bought a half price Coke 24x 375ml Cans ($13.4) and 3x Greek style yogurt ($4.5 each) and some bread to be eligible for week 2 of $10 saving when you shop >$40 at Woolworths.

  • Was going to buy a lamb leg tomorrow, so, lucky I checked here first! Ta OP! :)

  • Lamb roasts this weekend :)

  • Bought one. After $10 discount ,cost me only 7.5

  • guess abott was right? at least about something.

Prices went up $3 a kg overnight in Hobart. Went into the shop and picked up a nice looking leg that had a sticker of almost 3kg on it. NO way it's kg I thought and it was just over 2kg.

Told the guy at the checkout. He said seems like the meat man wants to make money and apologised for being misleading and gave it to me for nothing. If you can tell the difference between 2 and 3 kg (by mass or size), pick a few up and feel them or just take some to the fruit section's scales and get the one that is under weighed the most.
I have had the opposite happen too. 2.5kg leg for 1kg price. They must just rush to get the stickers on and make mistakes!
