tl;dr it's kind of a taxi service except you pay through your phone and it finds other people who signed up to be drivers to come pick you up.
thats one very small part of it - UberX
then there is Uber/UberBlack where you get a hire car with professional driver
and uberTaxi where you get a taxi without having the 10% surcharge for cards

Mate these buggers are massive ripoff. Just for a fare to go to Melb airport from southern cross station they quoted $80 bucks. Even with that $40 coupon it's not worth it.

Bypassing everything else, I just put XPRESSMAG in the Uber android app and got a free $40 ride in Perth only.
