  • Hi Rep, can you confirm if this one works with iMac? How about the leigh of the cable? Tks

    • +1

Hi there, as long as your iMac has Mini Display Port or Thunderbolt port it should be fine. The cable length: 4m. Thanks.

  • +1

    Showing $31.95 on your page

    • Sorry I knew I should have forgoten about something. I have just updated price to 29.95. Thank you for letting me know.

      • So a $2 discount then?

        • -2

It was a mistake of putting wrong price initially. You do however have saved $30 from not buying it at retail $59.95.

  • +1

Why $31.95 on the website? Do we need a code, rep?

    • Price updated to 29.95.Thanks.

  • +1

Ordered one. Tks rep. Good price btw.

    • No, thank you, Sir!

  • I haven't tried but does anyone know if there's a big difference between genuine and eBay alternatives?

    • -1

I guess similar with fake lightning cables - the cable may work but it may not work either. Its the quality if the product you have sacrifice and the brand who manufactured the product who loses every time someone buy counterfeits.

Always think if the benefit you get from buying original genuine product this way you can justify the purchase.

We only sell genuine Belkin by the way. Bought from local Authorized Belkin distributor and this particular product was shipped direct from Belkin Australia.

      • +1

Thanks OP yeah I like Belkin they're trusty.

  • +6

Sorely tempted to downvote this, mainly for the fact better value can be had by purchasing a $5 DisplayPort to HDMI adapter and then a <$5 HDMI cable of similar length.
Never be suckered into buy expensive cables. They make ZERO difference, unless it's over a 10 - 15 meter run, then maybe.

    • And here's a previous real deal for a 2m "no name" adapter for $5.95 - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/141359

    • -3

Sorry they do make a difference, I bought one of these. Not super cheap but good value for 4M. Belkin will work, the others may not. I have a house full of crap cables and adaptors that have failed.

      • +3

Could you enlighten us with what that difference was?

I've always gone for the cheaper cables, as most people would be aware that it's the version spec (e.g. HDMI 1.3, 1.4 or 2.0) that dictates the bandwidth of the cable and not the brand. Also most people are aware that a digital signal isn't affected by persistent RF noise - so wire gauge and insulation doesn't matter for that purpose. So you're left with connector quality as being the argument for more expensive cables. Well if I was to snap off a connector (which has never happened to me and is bloody unlikely that it ever would) then I can just buy a whole new cable for $5.

    • +1

I assume that when you say 'zero difference' you mean picture quality.

If it's a cable that you plan to plug in/out a lot, then a more expensive cable may provide better quality or thicker plug to cord strength etc. Rubbish ebay cables I've bought tend to degrade quickly.. quality cables I've bought decades ago still work perfectly.

      SIDEBAR:
I helped my dad install a new antenna the other day, and when he finished he reckoned the picture on SBS HD Digital station was better.. I think it was all in his baby-boomer vhs era mind, as it's a digital signal. But maybe there was a placebo effect.. maybe buying a more expensive cable will make you think the picture is clearer :)

        It's HDMI, not analogue.

RF antenna cabling for DVB is chalk if HDMI is cheese.

This would be the same by asking why need to buy a new iPhone 6 for $800+ if one can better of with a $50 android phone as you can do the same thing with it?

I just think both item is not exactly the same. And that deal is not right Noe, it was 5 months ago.

    • +4

That's a horrible analogy. There's pages and pages of functions that would differ between a $800 phone and a $50 dollar phone. I think it's a bad thing for a rep to say on this site to users, most people on here aren't complete numpties and will call you out on your lies.

Here's a $4 cable that can do everything that your $30 product can (although it's 2 and not 4meters).
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mini-6FT-TV-Video-Cable-Display-P…

Here's a $3 mDP to HDMI adaptor and $8 cable (HDMI 1.4 spec with gold plated connectors and a braided cable).
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mini-Display-Port-DP-Male-to-HDMI…
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/5M-16FT-HDMI-V1-4-Cable-Gold-Plat…

There's heaps more combos out there for getting mDP to HDMI, but I think both of those are much better than spending $30.

      • +2

I was about to buy the $30 cable untill you listed the $3 ebay link . THANKS for saving me $27 !! Cheers mate.

    • Does a Belkin cable have these characteristics over a cheaper alternative?

-Higher technical specification which results in a discernible difference in performance.
-Make you feel tech savvy and smart even if you're really not.
-Improved functionality with higher build quality and design.

The answer is no, your analogy is rubbish.

  • +2

Why is it so expensive? The last one I bought was $3.95. If you were charging $60 originally you are a criminal.

  • The longest I've seen for those cables are 3.6m? Is this something new? or fake? I'm curious

  • I bought a cheap display port to HDMI cable from eBay, took 4 weeks to get here and it just doesn't work on my Macbook Air, detects the display but doesn't send any video or audio, seller offered a $2 refund on a $5 purchase

In the end a waste of time and money, should have just bought the quality item to begin with

  • Dear OP,

I reckon you should do more "competitiveness" research on eBay next time you post a deal.

Also, cables are controversial type of products. Avoid these in the future.

    • +1

      Lesson learnt. Thank you.

  • +2

I've never had a dvi to HDMI converter last more than a few weeks. When I cut it open it is 2 thin cable not more than a few strands of wire. Lol

Just like the fake apple headphones. Just taking out their garbage.
