I purchased my Note 8 from JB for $70 more 18 months ago. Not sure if I would consider $299 a bargain nowadays!

      $70 ? are you sure ?

        $70 more than $299

Not as good as the old Bing Lee deal when they were running them out 6 months ago:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/139036

I got mine from OW with the 5% discount and with the cashback cost $178 or something ridiculous.

      • Same. I think it came to $185. What version of Android are you running on it? I'm on 4.2.2.

      • Wish I was able to jump on that deal. I was too far away @ the time.

Better buying something like this if you are looking for an 8 inch tab.

    http://www.amazon.com/NVIDIA-940-81761-2500-000-SHIELD-Tableā€¦

    • great tablet… but I assume most people are buying the Note 8.0 for the included stylus

      • Considering both tabs come with a stylus I don't get your point? And if you were after a tablet for the stylus function, then I doubt you'd do much better than the shield tab at this price point?

The Shield stylus isn't active like the S-Pen, it's just capacitive. So if you were specifically after the stylus function, the Note would be better in this instance.

          @ProspectiveDarkness:

That is true, I've tried both of them and the technology that nvidia uses is pretty impressive. The nvidia stylus actually has less lag than the s-pen. Have you used the nvidia shield stylus before? If you are going to buy a device for its stylus you wouldn't buy either anyhow.

the best ever deal on Note 8 is this one:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/139036

    • so you better just go back in time and get that deal instead

      • if you think $299 is a bargain in these days, then go for it, good luck :)

      • I wish - thought about it at the time though

    • True. But Price Matching @ Officeworks on the day could have worked out even cheaper, depending on transport costs and location.

There is the odd one of these around in mainstream electronic stores and often at a one off clearance price (200-279 I have been quoted) although sometimes the stock is the display stock. I would love one, but 299 is too rich for me given the age. These still seem to have a good second hand price on ebay also. Does any know if there is a replacement model coming??? I cant find anything about this model being replace.
