Yes you can. Just did, and got the email.

      • Can I ask Which bank is this? Westpac still don't have paypass for their Amex cards

        • Oh, sorry, I've got Amex Amex. I also have ANZ cards, and they have NFC chips too. Sounds like Westpac is behind the times (not surprising, when you look at their website).

        • @JohnHowardsEyebrows: thanks. Yeah they really are

    • @ lxstr: Worked for me yesterday. Just signed as normal. No issues whatsoever.

      • I think it depends on the staff member, I wasn't as lucky.

    • My signature card worked today.

  • Hmmm, I registered my name for the offer. My partner has the another card with the same number as I do. I've tried to register the same number but with her names but it doesn't work. So my question is: will purchases made on her card count towards the offer??

    • +1

She is carrying a card with the same number. Is that possible? Or do u mean she is a supplementary card holder?
If she is a supplementary card holder then she can register separately (cos it's a different card #), but it seems like she is not so i doubt it.

edit: Some above mentioned 'bank issued card, primary and supplementary have the same number. so you can only do ONE.'
      So definitely no.

  • Awesome post OP, thanks mate.

  • Is there any Dan Murphy's Stores selling Woolwoeths WISH card in Melbourne? I checked with two stores and they only sell Dan Murphy's Gift Card.

    • +1

They can be used at WW group stores.

    • You don't really need to buy Wish Gift Card from DanMurphy's store ( if u cant find one). Buy DanMurphy GC, and also can read the back of the card for details to verify its store specific or not.

Mine is working.. and going to buy 7 more

Check the Dan Murphys Gift Card back side and read details. It say's along the line its accepted woolworths store and other store names mentioned. In front of Gift Card, its DAN Murphy Sticker through out but its getting accepted at woolworths supermarket, woolworths petrol etc.

  • thank you i spent way to much at Dan

  • A good price for Oyster bay sav blanc at $13 a bottle.

Bought 3 x $50 gift card in seperate transactions at 4pm….still haven't got email from AMEX yet :(

    • Did you receive the "Thank you for Registering" email when you initially registered?

      • -1

        Yes I did :(

        • I would not be concerned. You have proof you registered for the offer and you have proof you made the qualifying transactions.

    • +5

"… still haven't got email from AMEX yet :("

Here's a tip that may help you avoid undue angst in the future, hombre:

      Patience is a virtue

For a deal that is based on the required transactions being made anytime before the end of this year, perhaps it would be best if you wait at least a couple of days before you start stressing, rather than a couple of hours?

      • +1

Usually you get email stating you'll be credited with half hour of using amex for these deals so don't think this will work for the gift cards

  • +1

    Dear Card Member,

Congratulations! You have completed all the qualifying transactions on your registered Card ending in XXXXX.

Your $50 credit back for spending $50, in three separate transactions, at Dan Murphy’s will be issued to your registered Card account.

Statement credits are generally issued within 5 business days upon completion of your eligible transaction.

    Yours sincerely,
    American Express

We bought once on wines together up to $50. Then we go back buy giftcard $50, then a mix between giftcards $20 and beers purchase.

Mixed up and got it working with 3 purchases and should and hope not to have reject from AMEX

    • let us know if you get the statement credit in 5 days time, i guess it's safer for me to wait :D (i've already registered my card and got confirmation email from amex, just haven't taken the plunge to go buy gift cards yet)

    • I just bought 3 x $50 gift cards in 3 transactions straight up. The guy thought I was a nuisance, but no issues. Credit straight after.

  • +1

I have only had issues when i have accepted the offers and grabbed them that day, no probs the next day onwards.

(that said amex have always credited when i have emailed them.)

I also take a screen grab of the offer as a back up.

    • your card is AMEX AMEX card or bank AMEX card? I have issues, but when I rang the bank they said they don't know about AMEX promotion, rang AMEX, they said they don't know the bank cards.

  • Is it 3 * $ 50 transactions or

    3 transactions and total $ 50+ ??

    • the former

  • +3

I just split my transaction into lots of $50 and a few minutes after, I've gotten the qualifying transaction email

    • Amex with PIN or without PIN?

    • an email for EACH transaction like "you are on the way, two more to go…", OR just one email after you've done three transactions? thanks!

      • +1

No, just one email after you have made the final qualifying transaction.

  • Can anybody confirm if the David JOnes issued American EXpress cards are eligible?
THe terms and conditions are not very clear in this regar.
    T&C's
Only American Express Cards issued by American Express Australia Limited or by the following licensed network partners are Eligible Cards:

    • National Australia Bank Limited;
    • Westpac Banking Corporation;
    • Australia and New Zealand Banking Group Limited (ANZ);
    • Commonwealth Bank of Australia;

The following are <b>not Eligible Cards: Business Cards that are affiliated with a wholesaler partners, American Express Business Travel Accounts, Government Cards, Corporate Purchasing Cards, Corporate Meeting Cards and Corporate Cards.

  • So I've just completed this and I think I've extracted the maximum value out of the offer.

    1. Go to Dan Murphy and buy 3 X $50 Dan Murphy Gift Cards.
A few seconds after this, the AMEX system should trigger the email notifying you that you've qualified for the A$50 cash back. WIN

    2. Go straight to your Woolies and buy 5 X $30 Woolworths Group Wish Cards in 5 different transactions using your Dan Murphy Gift Cards.
(DO NOT SCAN YOUR EVERYDAY REWARDS card)
You will now have 5 receipts with 5 fuel offer dockets on it.
      SO MUCH WINNING!!

    • +2

many cashiers do not let you buy gift cards with gift cards.

      YMMV

      • ^Absolutely.
Hit and miss but I still think that extracts maximum value out of the deal.

    • +3

@ ofey: Then the next step is to use your $30 card to purchase $30 worth of groceries for $25 using this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/165147

    • you can use dan gc at any everydayreward chain store

      • +1

^ That's inferred from doing what I've done already but doing it this way extracts twice the number of fuel vouchers.
Then by using @Unity1 's brilliant add on, you're getting a further A$5 back again

    • So if you scan your every day rewards card it doesn't stack petrol vouchers?

  • +1

Just bought 3 x $50 gift card. I had a feeling this wont work on gift card ;(

    • +1

I received my confirmation email as I walked out of the Dan Murphy front door

      • You bought 3 gift cards?

    • Same.. Bought 3xGCs at lunchtime and still no email confirming the purchase..

    • FYI: I was using my CBA AMEX and use paypass.

my netbank also have not shown this 3 transactions, normally it shows up right away as pending transactions. perhaps, this is the reason it gets delayed…. finger crossedddd

      • I used ANZ paywave

        • Update: Received my cashback from AMEX even though I didn't receive an email confirming the purchases.

  • +4

Too easy I bought 6 using mine and my mrs card. Easiest $100 I ever made apart from wasting 5 hrs a day at work on ozbargain

    • Question is Have you receive confirmation yet ? Some of us not yet.

  • Yea in 3 mins

  • +1

Have got 3 cards, just got first credit with $150 in vouchers. Used it to buy $130 Penfold's RWT, brought down to $120 with Qwibble. Less $50 is $70 for a bottle that'll age superbly. Sensational deal.

    • oh crap … im still waiting email from AMEX :(

      • Did you buy on the same day as registering? If so, it may not come through, and you'll have to remember to contact Amex to get the rebate.

        • Can you show me how to find the contact number as I can't find it from the Amex website for my Westpact Amex card?

  • CBA gave me an AMEX recently. I went to the DM at Wolli Creek to get a $50 card first before going next door to buy a $50 JB card and that worked. I'll go back again tomorrow. I'm gonna ditch the CBA Amex and apply for a Platinum Edge or similar. I should have applied for an AMEX long time ago.

  • "Unfortunately the maximum number of Card Members have already enrolled for this offer. Please visit https://www.amexconnect.com.au/ for other fabulous offers."

God damn I usually ignore these Amex deals as mine is bank issued.

  • how long we can receive the email says we can get the credit for bank issued AMEX card? I know for AMEX issued card it is quick.

    • +1

Westpac one got the email almost instantly after three transactions.

      • I bought 3 GCs yesterday with $50 each using my ANZ AMEX card, but not receive the confirmation email, does it mean it is not qualified transaction?

        • When did you register you card? (I registered mine a day before I made the purchase).
Also did you receive an email saying you'd successfully registered?

        • @eleana: I registed my card one day agao and got email saying it is successfully registered before making the purchase. still not receivinig the email. today I tried to contact ANZ bank, they said they don't know the amex promotion, I contact AMEX, they sayd they cannot get any information as my card is ANZ issued. Anyone know who can I go to.

        • @februaryaya:

Just give it a couple of days. I have seen rebates processed even without getting a confirmation.

        • +1

@februaryaya: You should be fine since you registered your card one day before you made the purchase. I remember I didn't receive the email on target deal before, but I got the credit as usual (several days later). Don't be too worried, wait a couple days later after the transaction clear to see if the credit applies.

  • Boo oversubscribed. Can't register for this any more. At least I got the Amex-issued one.

  • Registered to this offer 2 days ago, and can confirm I purchased 3x $50 GC's in 3 transactions using ANZ FFB AMEX Paypass 30 minutes ago. Minutes later received AMEX email with congratulations =D

  • Interesting that the wording regarding gift cards is different on the Amex issued card conditions and the Bank issued card conditions.
    Amex Issued cards:
    Not Eligible:
•Gift Card purchases and purchases made through concession stores in department stores; online aggregators such as PayPal or other retailers are excluded.
This contains ambiguity in that the exclusion of gift cards could be referring only to those bought in concession stores.
The clause in the Bank Issued cards has been cleaned up…
    Not Eligible
    :2.Purchasing gift cards from merchants.
I would contend that they may be obligated on the Amex Issued cards to allow gift cards bought from non concession stores..ie DM stand alone stores.

    • I'm guessing the difference - as with any other of these deals - is that Amex doesn't have the ability to differentiate these purchases off Dan Murphy's, whereas online purchases give the merchant much more control on how they process things.

      • The generic (use anywhere) gift cards could not be bought online.

  • I went to 3 DM and no one sells wish GC :(

    • +1

Dan Murphy's gift cards are what you need, as they are just branded WISH gift cards, i.e. can be used anywhere.

      • As above the physical DM cards can be used 'anywhere'. Just used it a Woolies.

        • Also, they can be used in Woolies to buy a range of gift cards to different retailers: Myer (not Coles & Myer), David Jones, iTunes, cinema chains, JB Hi-Fi, and more.

        • @JohnHowardsEyebrows: I was refused when I tried to do this. Operator was backed up by the supervisor when I queried her refusal. I was told it is Woolworths policy, gift cards cannot be bought with gift cards.

        • Clearly cannot be used to purchase gift cards under terms and conditions
          https://everydaygiftcards.com.au/media/static/Docs/wish_tnc.…

        • @spacecowboy:

          Oh :(

Sorry, this was my assumption after doing it at Target (using Coles & Myer gift card for David Jones). Sorry.

  • "Unfortunately the maximum number of Card Members have already enrolled for this offer. Please visit https://www.amexconnect.com.au/ for other fabulous offers."

    Marked expired

  • The change in title of this deal is factually incorrect. This link was an invitation open to all Amex cards, not only bank issued cards.

  • My Dad has 3 amex cards. I told him about this deal, firstly he hasn't got it with a pin yet so not sure if they would accept, secondly he won't do it…doesn't believe me or thinks it's dodgy! Said I'd split it with him…agrh!

    lol

    • +1

I wrote to Amex - and asked them about it. They said, it should still be accepted.

I tried it out on Friday and Saturday and it was ok! :)

  • +1

I just got my $50 credit after buying 3 x $50 GC. I received no confirmation after my third gift card, just the original email after the sign up.

  • +1

Got mine $50 credited also, but did not receive email for confirmation after the purchases.
Long long time ago use to get the email, but for the past 4 or 5 offers, the email has stopped…..So don't worry it will come

  • I received email confirmation straight after purchasing my 3x $50 gift cards.

Out of interest, how does Amex make money out of these promos? I assume they split the refund partly with the retailer? I only use my amex for these cashback offers

  • +1

I just got the following email after only completing 2 qualifying purchases
"Congratulations! You have completed all qualifying transactions on your registered Card ending in"
I did however bought from Dan Murphy's back in august and the purchase was over $50. I'm wonering if it counted this one as the 1st qualifying purchase and the 2 purchases tonight completed the 3 transactions?

    • Did u use Amex for the august purchase? I had a $60 purchase paid by paypal that is linked to my Amex. I wonder if that counts

      • Yes I did.

    • i got this too (bought in august also), but having received the email over 2 weeks ago have still not seen the $50. only took a couple of days last time.

have you received your credit yet?

  • +4

I got $100 bucks for 2. Now I'm using the 6 gift cards over 3 weeks at woolies for anothet $100 on the everyday rewards promo which i was emailed on 2 cards. Spent 300 to get back 500 all up. And all on half price special stuff. Profit. Goes to show with a little bit of research you can beat the system and not play the victim of the big duopoly. Thank you ozbargain

  • How long does it take to get the credit? I got email confirming the registration but after making 3 purchases, I did not get any email. It has been two days now and it still not showing up in my card account

    • +2

      3-4 business days

  • I know there are a lot of comments posted above about these Dan Murphy giftcards can be used at the other Woolworths chain stores - Woolworths supermarket, Caltex Woolworths etc. However, is there anyone experiencing problem and issue with using it - maybe rejected by the checkout operator, the giftcard does not work when swiped etc? Keen to hear!

    • Nope all good rdaun…

    • No problem using it in Woolworths.

    • It is just a wish gift card with Dan Murpheys logo. It will work at any of the stores listed here: https://everydaygiftcards.com.au/gift-cards/wish-gift-cards

    • +1

I used the DM cards this week at woolworths caltex to pay for petrol & at a BWS to buy liquor. No problem at either place.
