"It's 1.2 metres tall if anybody wants to know…"

Thanks jv, that is in fact exactly what I wanted to know… how come you're posting sensible, genuinely useful/productive info lately? You've changed, man :(

I have "pozzed your post", but I had to use my left hand… my right is just too conditioned to reflexively negging your posts, so I didnae trust it…

"… for my laundry. I hope they stack with glue…"

Hey aero, if you actually do the gluing once the stuff is IN your laundry, make sure you don't use any appliances in there for the next 24 hours that may create excessive humidity (like an old dodgy dish-washer or sommat); just to make sure you don't compromise the setting of the glue/ the final strength of the bond.

Thanks OP. Grabbed two at the price to help house my daughter's ever-expanding book collection…

On a related note, after some googling, I found the coupon code "CARNIVAL" which apparently applies a $10 discount on a spend of $60+ across some departments (possibly clothes, footwear and accessories). It worked for me, but may not if you don't have enough qualifying items in your order.

I'll wait for rubbish collection day thanks.

  • I bought two in black. Postage is not free on large items. Click & Collect is currently free. Neither the Welcome or Carnival codes worked for me :(

This will come flat packed, right?

    • I hope so, does anyone know?

Good price, but I'm betting the shelve inserts won't be adjustable. If that's the case, I'd much prefer to spend more and get an Ikea billy. I just hate vertical dead space on shelves.

    • Hey Unc, you'd be amazed how easy it is to insert a few mounting pegs anywhere you like, and whack in another shelf (to "reclaim" the dead vert space). Of course I understand that many peeps prefer the IKEA method/design, but personally I don't like the look of the 4 vertical series' of holes (one every inch or less?) spanning the entire unit, and I find that those wee little triangular thingies they use for inserts are too small/flimsy to provide reliable support.

Or is the "Billy" some different type of shelf/ not like the usual IKEA stuff?

      • Thanks much GN. Nope, Billy is the same iconic shelf you've described.

You're right in that adding DIY shelves would be awesome and cheaper on the pocket than buying a Billy. Could I grab a link to those mounting pegs you mentioned? Not sure if I'm looking at the right google results. I'm looking at 'Nickel Shelf Pins' which are pretty much those triangular thingies mentioned.

        Cheers!

These shelves would be fine in a shed, but with exposed screw heads on the sides they look tacky anywhere else. Better off spending a little more and getting a BILLY from IKEA.

  • Thanks OP, bought a white one.

    • How did you find a white one? Can't seem to locate it…
