Was reading the latest 1st Choice Liquor Catalogue, they have Asahi 24 bottle slab for $49.95, bargain!\

To view catalogue, click here: http://www.1stchoice.com.au/documents/pdf/inthepress_vic_200…

Normally $65.00, I've seen some places sell it for $75!

If you can't get to a 1st Choice store, get Dan Murphy to beat it! It is part of their policy.

VIC, NSW & ACT ONLY

Good find. Becks and Stella for $41 isn't bad either!

Yeah very good deal for Asahi.
btw hoiboy, stella was on at Dan murphy's for $39/case last week.

Also, both first choice and dan murphy's monitor each other's catalogues and always beat eachother's sales. However when I happen to get to both stores in the same week, I notice they only beat them by 5c on a carton of beer.

That's a good price for Stellas - I really should check out Dan Murphy a bit more often instead of being lazy and going to WOW Liquor.

Well looks like 1st choice are making a big play here. Slightly OT they've beaten Dan's on the Rawson's Retreat as well as Grants whisky (albeit by 10c):

    I love a good booze war :)

Repeating what I said when I read the title to this bargain… Holy Sh*t.

I love Asahi. Great find. Thanks!

EDIT: And now I say just sh*t for another reason. Doesn't apply to QLD, SA, or WA. That sux!

    Wow this is really good.

Not as good as free Asahi beer at the Asahi breweries in Japan though. :D

  • just remember this site for all your alcohol shopping needs.

    www.boozle.com.au

    • That's a good site, thanks! I've sent boozle some suggestions for making searching quicker & easier, but the site is still v. useful.

pretty sure Asahi is now brewed under license in Australia, same as most of the other shit!

    may aswell drink VB.

    • Mn…I don't know…both cole branded cola and coca cola are made in Australia, but would you say they are the same after all? You probably can say the price difference can't justify the taste difference…but in this case, it's cheap enough to justify i guess? I know when it comes to taste, it's very personal, but unless i like the taste of VB, otherwise i really can't image why they are the same considering the giving price.

  • overrated beer imo

drink less beer, drink better beer. better for your wallet and for your health :)

    • Care to make a recommendation?

      • id say go for a 1litre stein with some friends. Failing that you can always go for the trusty Hoegaarden but it costs a bit.

Just don't get any Crowns :)

Depends a lot on the food you're eating and the types of beers you like. I don't mind a Guiness even though they're in those crappy cans, can't drink it while eating anything though. It's like bread ^ 2

        • Remember, when it comes to beer & cuisine; as they say on Red Dwarf, "only a lager can kill a vindaloo"! ;)

      • I'll throw my hat in here…

Little Creatures (microbrew) Pilsener is OUTSTANDING, particularly if you can find it on tap somewhere! :)

FWIW, I don't mind this Asahi either, I missed out when it was Beer of the Month a while back so I'm glad I found this! ;)

Has anyone else noticed 1st Choice, BWS, LL etc seem to be getting really competitive now with Dan Murphy, which is great coz they were getting smashed a few months ago on prices! :)

        • Little creatures pale ale & James Squires amber ale are my favourite microbrew beers.

  • Just got 24 bottle slab, great value. I wouldn't say Asahi is the BEST, but at this price, you just can't ask for more, can you?

  • Just make sure that the expiry on the slab is reasonable..

Dan Murphy's were selling very cheap asahi not long ago, which I bought (expiry is in Nov 09)
