  • seems like a good price. haven't bought a hdd since they were 2TB for $160.

    any reviews/comments/suggestions on these?

Amazon occassionally does them for 119+shipping USD. Works out cheaper specially if your buying a few, otherwise might be better to just get them here for the warranty…

At the current value of the $AUS that amazon price would not really be any cheaper. Why would anyone want to forgo 3 years local warranty for the sake of a few dollars, and being able to get their hands on the product sooner and having that Dick Smith experience.

      • After 28 degrees conversion, $151 AUD for one, delivered, was the cheapest I have ever got from Amazon. Unless they've been cheaper and it just wasn't posted to ozb.

Combining a few might get the postage per item down though, so might squeeze in under this (now expired) DS price per unit.

    • I bought one in the eBay/Dicksmith 20% off deal ($159) I don't use it for daily use because it is very loud. Copy speeds are good (no reason why they shouldn't be). I simply use it to act as a temporary storage device eg going to a friends, shuffling data, tasks that don't require it to be permanently attached to the PC.

Side note during some copy processes it would disconnect and reconnect, I am sure this was a Windows 8 issue though.

Good price on the portable Seagate 1tb too

    • I've got one of these connected to my media player. So far it has performed quite well. No issues.

    • any reviews/comments/suggestions on these?

Take them out of the enclosure. In summer they'll hit +50C easily.

That's about the only thing I can fault them for. I've had 2 for over a year and they're still going strong.

  • Thanks

Deal is cheaper than most current prices for internal 4TB drives, if you don't mind pulling the drive enclosure apart and (probably) voiding the warranty.

  • Very nice find unity. Thank you.

  • Good price hopefully the 5tb's start dropping soon.

Coming up as $169 after promo code.

    • Looks like they have changed the price. Marked expired.

      • Typical Dick.

        • And I was just about to jump on this too!

        • The $170 one In my cart changed as well.

        • urgh damn it, was dicking around with one in my cart for $150 and the damn price changed

I think DS keep a close watch on OzB.

    • +12

If only they kept as close a watch on their own web store, they might not have so many price malfunctions…

      • haha I agree or if only the person who kept an eye on OzB would instead verify the changes in price, they wouldn't have so many disasters and therefore have happy customers. That said though, there are some genuinely nice people who work for DS who go out of their way to help out.

  • $189 in store for those interested anyway

    • The coupon code still works so it would come down to $169 for click and collect in store

  • thanks..
