    Finally

  • Haven't had this for a while. Any decent new flavours?.

    • +7

Salted Caramel now comes in the 1L tub. Sensational flavour.

      Enjoy.

      • Bah. Missed out the salted caramel.

  • sweet timing to stack for summer

  • I almost purchased one today at $6. lol.

    • +4

That's the 470ml! This bargain is for 1l! Exclamation mark!

  • I know I'm probably pushing my luck here but does anyone know where I could still find the original Strawberry flavour of Connoisseur? There's some strawberry and cream type flavours from others and then there's Coles own Strawberry flavour but none are quite as good. Only problem is I can't find the Connoisseur one anymore no matter where I look!

    • +2

The 'Sara Lee' Strawberry is quite nice and creamy, and has plenty of berry used in the making of it.

    • +4

woolworths doesn't sell it, but coles still sells "summer strawberry" which is the original

i know because i looked for it for ages like you!

    • I don't think the original Strawberry flavour of Connoisseur is available any more.
They used to do Strawberry Stravaganza, which changed into Summer Strawberry (which wasn't quite as nice), but I haven't seen them for about 6 months or more in Perth.
I loved the jammy gooey bits in it, used to dig out the seam from the tub like a miner looking for opals. With Summer Strawberry, the seam was getting thinner, the opals were running out.
And now it's gone. A disaster.
Tried the Coles Summer Strawberry last week. OK, but compared to Connoisseur it was a massive disappointment. Just like cheap kid's icecream.
Peter's seem to be going upmarket with fancy icecream blends like Salted Caramel with Macadamia. Tossers. They've lost the plot.

    it begins…..

I suggest we call it The Fattening.

Please don't take pictures of the aftermath and upload them into the cloud or send via Snapchat…

    this is the best

You should try Aldi's cookies and cream and coffee mocha, but the coffee is very rare to get a hold of.

      • Same at your Aldi, eh? It seems there are 3 flavours in each box of them and because the other two flavours suck, they can't order more boxes.

        • +1

          Those flavours plus,
          Van.-Opulence ; Caramel Honeycomb ; White-Choc. Rhapsody

Contrast gelato+sorbets..& not too shabby-a reference for the Germans'delicatessen skills;-)

oh yea stocks do vary, no need for rainchecks tho
whilst prices stays on the level.

    • 'cept for macadamia & maybe strawberry..prefer Aldis every time, even more since 20c cheaper last i stocked up.

Somehow they can dig oil out of the ground in Saudi Arabia. Refine it. Put it on a boat. Send it to an island in the middle of the ocean called Australia. Refine it again. Put it on a truck. Send it to the petrol station. Tax it. Mark it up several times over the process. $1.40 a litre.

    Vs

    Milk cow
    Add cookies
    Freeze
    $10 a litre

Crazy. Only buy at half price!

    • -6

And based on that argument, you should pretty much eat nothing and drink only free tap water on the street. $2 for a 375mL coke? More expansive than fuel. $2 for a 500mL bottle of water? Pass. $2 for a cup (50-100mL maybe?) of coffee? No thanks. $9 for some Chinese takeaway? OMG why so expensive!

    • +2

You need the made in china H20. Just be careful they haven't substituted melamine.

    • +12

      economies of scale.

if you want cheaper ice cream, just need to persuade everyone to eat it by the truckload.

      • +4

        You had me at cheaper…

    • +1

Its called supply and demand - huge demand for fuel not so much for ice cream - though there does appear to be a lot of fatties on ozbargain.

    • +1

No egg in Connoisseur, cheaper substitutes used instead, so quality could be better.

  • +15

Time to throw out all the frozen meats!

  • +3

Time for an early "carb up"

Sorry 6 pack Abs but summer isnt looking good for you this year :(

  • thanks..

  • +3

Mmm you didn't mention the kettle chips too!

Yum, eat the salty kettle chips first then connoisseur afterwards, winning!

    • +6

Then buy some petrol (thanks @B Wat) with the 4c off voucher with your everday rewards card to wash it all down.

  • +1

I'm glad I resisted Cole's half price Sara Lea last night.

    • -1

Sara lee is much better I think.

    • I bought Sara Lea! Now I gotta finish eating that tub ASAP!

  • -3

bah no half price on the limited ed small tubs. those taste much better than these 1L ones

  • Dammit! This deal just has to come when I leave the country :(

    • +18

It's worth cancelling your ticket over imo

  • Might pick up a few tubs on the way home. Thanks :)

    • +2

      Starts on the 22nd bud.

      • +3

It's okay, he has a long walk home.

  • This is probably going to be marked 'Off-topic' but Pigey, I'm more interested in how you made the strawberry sauce… Do tell. Mmm…strawberry sauce, I love strawberry sauce (or as the cool kids call it, 'coulis')

  • +2

I'm surprised to see this many upvotes for a tub of ice-cream; must be well-loved! I've never tasted Connoisseur ice-cream, any recommendations? I am steering towards trying the CAFÉ GRANDE.

    • +3

Most of their stuff is great - Cafe Grande is fantastic, especially if you like coffee flavoured ice cream with some nuts in it.

      • I only wish they bothered to blanch the roasted almonds first in the Cafe Grande.
Just so you don't get the skins. But it is a TERRIFIC flavor.
It is really hard not to eat a tub-at-time. As noted with fatness warning: my will to eat less sugar is at breaking point. :-(

    • +2

You're missing out if you haven't.
      Cookies & Cream FTW!
Also, the honey carmamel macadmia is awesome!

      • Thanks Trishool and Maz78,

Well, Seems like I might have to sample all of them ;).

  • +1

    This available in VIC?

Can't check the new catalogue (commencing Wednesday 22nd) online anymore.

    • +1

Online 'cattledogs' are available 5pm Monday

      • Thanks, just found it on like the 2nd last page.

  • +4

While the Connoisseur is nice, at $4.70 every single day the Coles branded one is a damn good ice cream to have in between while you wait for a half price special on the Connoisseur.

    • +1

Haven't tried the Coles branded one, but the Aldi gourmet ones are pretty damn good!

      • +1

Coles Rum & Raisin and Honey & Macadamia are awesome. Easy to polish off the whole 1lt tub in one serving.

I'll have to give the Aldi ones a go.

  • +1

yes! its hell of deal thx OP

  • +1

    coookiieeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzz and creeaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm :)))

  • +2

Any deals on a small freezer to house all the flavours in?

    • ;-) you are so right!!

  • Best ice cream sold at the supermarkets

  • +1

I went to Chadstone (VIC) Woolie this afternoon, it was not on special. Disappointed. Then I realized the post did say it start on 22 Oct. Silly me.

    • Oh I thought it was on already too.

  • +2

Damn Connoisseur they don't make rum & raisin….

  • So what's the ozbargain consensus best flavor for this brand?

I'm surprised none of the big brands make green tea flavor. Have to go to those Asian supermarket for those.

    • I'm simple, Vanilla and Chocolate.

    • Belgian chocolate, if you like a rich chocy treat

      • Thanks but maybe not for me.

    • The salted caramel is not too shabby, try that one

  • 22nd now and not on special on woolies online. What am I missing (apart from patience)?

  • Yum, grabbed 2 and definitely will get more!

  • At this rate we'll need on ozbargain offer for a defibrillator

  • bought 4 tubs last night from Stratty in NSW :)

Edit — All Cookies and Cream.

  • Sold out ;-( When does woolworths usually restock?

I hate doing my shopping on Thursday… Everything is usually gone.

    • raincheck :)

  • +1

Anyone tried Butterscotch & Gingerbread? Mrs has limited me to three tubs so I can't afford to make a mistake.

    • +3

that was all that was left last night so I gave it a try…..wouldn't get it again

      • Thanks - I will stick to the old favourites.

    • +1

I liked it. I prefer cookies n cream/cafe grande over it, but its not that bad.

  • Do they still sell chocolate obsession? Only chocolate they had was the belgium one. Or is it belgiun?

    • I havent seen Choc Obsession on Woolies & Coles shelves for a long time but IGA still stock em. I still got a tub left from their last 50% off deal.

  • I bought a tub of the caramel with salt. Ate half, felt ill, and realized I am not the fat bastard I used to be.

    • Is the Salted Caramel any good?

      • Yes, it is good.

      • So good that when I went back today, it was all sold out. Good news is that I got a rain check for when they are back in stock!

        • Finally got one the last day of the sale. Yes, it is very good!

  • Just picked up a Cafe Grande! ;-)

It has giant almonds in it too.
