nice, 64bit cpu device out of oven for android

Though I understand that Android doesn't support AArch64 yet, and even if it did it would use more memory than the 32bit architecture (and 1GB isn't huge even by the standards of 32bit phones). So, not much point in rushing out to buy this thing if you are happy with your current 32bit phone.

      • android L will provide the arch support, therefore when its out for this phone, either offical OTA or custom it should give it a nice bit of performance boost.

From first sight it seems like a contest for Moto G but then comes then 480x854 screen….

    • Personally I could live with that, if it wasn't also for the lack of LED flash, FM radio, 5 MP & VGA V 8 MP & 2 MP, probably no Android L update V L update ( speedily too from Motorola ), but it does have 4G important for some ( not relevant to myself and many others out of 4G coverage areas ). The HTC is a fair bit cheaper at this price compared to regular non sale price of Moto G2 around $250-$280.
So close to a real Moto G contender, just not close enough for me.

Keep in mind though the HTC has it's own edges:

        1. Snapdragon 410 64bit CPU
        2. 4G LTE
        3. Expansion slot compare to Moto G 2013 which is at the same price point
        4. Bigger screen

I guess if someone doesn't like the Moto G 2013 for his/her own reasons this could be an alternative

  • I like some of HTC's phones in the past for value for money ( such as HTC Incredible S etc. ). I know they have to cut some corners to provide a well performing phone for under $200, but to not include a LED flash in my view is a mistake. Otherwise looks like a great phone for $.

but to not include a LED flash in my view is a mistake

The camera is also EDOF fixed focus, and as opposed to autofocus. Serious corner cutting with the camera! I don't think they made this phone with multimedia in mind either.

-@scrimshaw Good pick up on the camera there, that's even worse than no LED flash for many.

The display res is 580 x 854px (on a 4.7 inch screen means it will be terrible for reading) but still it's a fairly good price, and seems to be cheaper than Moto G 4G.

    • -@scrimshaw Agree. I think the team at HTC development and marketing had a good look at model/price strategy with a close eye on Moto G/Moto G 4G/Moto G2 and slotted this one nicely in between spec wise and price wise. They will get some sales at this price range, but nothing like the Moto G range.

    • screen size requires 720p resolution to make it reasonable at any price range

On the right column on the webpage - "Manufactures Warranty" Wow! This phone creates warranties!

Thanks for the heads up on the no camera Flash!!!

    What are people thinking?

    What frequencies does it cover?

    This should be listed.

Actually I think this is more a competitor for the LG L7.

    • If you want good pic quality you can go buy the M8 one for $600 if you want, the camera on M8 is pretty dam nice.

      • motorola g 4lte is better for not much more

        • Specs of the Moto g 4G
          •Processor Speed: 1.2GHz Quad-Core processor
          •Software: Android
          •Display Size: 4.5"
          •Camera Type: 5MP
          •Memory: 8GB
          •Expandable Memory: Up to 32GB
nearly Identical except that is $300

        • -@tonyjzx Correct. If you don't need 4G, the Moto G2 could be an even better option with a better 8 MP camera, bigger 5" screen and getting official L update this year. Heck, it will be one of only a handful of phones showcasing the Lollipop Update this year.

      • -@TRENT86 True, but most people looking at this model, or any other phone under $300 would more than likely not be willing to spend around $600. Most people looking at this are comparing phone from around $100-$250 mark. Of course anyone can always buckle under temptation and whip out the Credit Card :-) By the way, love your many good posts, many thanks.

  • What is a Micro SIM and how do I get one if all I have is regular sized

    PLEASE

    • Ask your provider to give you one or ask someone with a Sim cutter.
