Now that is a good TV. After only buying cheapies for years, and WINNING a sony one; I can tell you….. its so much nicer.

Picture quality (although minor) is better; channel change speed is faster, power up is faster, HDMI feed to soundbars is flawless…. Worth it!

TRENT the TV man delivers again! keep it up man, love your TV Deal finds.
Now find me a decent 65" please.

    • +1

LOL seriously? I can have a look :)

  • Hi Mr Trent TV man, I am after a Panasonic 50", I am a Panasonic fanboy, if you could please find me one, kthnxbye.

    • what does it need and what max price?

      • about $800 or so.

        • but does it need to be smart, smart 3d or just fhd?

        • @TRENT86: No need to be smart, I just saw the link to the one for $799

        • @undertaker149: Yeah that's an alright one

    • Panasonic is also on special: http://www.dicksmith.com.au/full-high-definition/panasonic-5…

      $799 100HZ FHD 50" LED

      • Yeah been on special all week :)

      • that tv looks nice but doesn't have any smart features or even wifi

        • Yeah missing the necessary future proof stuff

  • Isn't this the one sold by JB hifi on boxing day for $747? My in-law got one and I remember it has 50Hz refresh but still great deal because of the free wall mount and included wifi

    • Not too sure, it only shows 1 previous deal on the ozbargain site $999.

    • This is a newer model. One on boxing day was the KDL50W670A which is discontinued.

  • I have this TV. Great unit.

  • Looking for advice guys and gals- starting to be a bit concerned with how much, and what, the kids are viewing on the internet. I thought maybe a large smart TV could be a sort of middle ground ie.they can still use the iPad for an allocated hour or two per day, but that anything else would be done on the TV where we can monitor and discuss things if necessary.

Would a 50" smart TV be something that could adequately mimic a laptop/tablet screen and browser, or is the smart TV internet experience, (with the various interfaces like web o/s, LG's own interface etc) something completely different or lesser?

Also, to use the TV as a browser etc in the lounge where the seats are say 4-5 metres from the TV, would, say, a 65" be better for this purpose?

    Cheers in advance.

You can buy a usb mouse and keyboard to work with the TV
I don't think this has web browsing though

      • Thanks for the advice Trent I really appreciate it.

  • Can someone confirm the refresh rate?

  • Cheers Trent once again for the epic TV deals! I don't think I can hold off any more this is my new tv

Just a heads up these Sony TV's make for excellent gaming TV's. They have some of the best TV input lag rates.

So if you're considering a gaming TV do your research but you won't find much better :)

  • Pulled the trigger. Thanks Trent the TV man!

Is it true that this TV is the exact same as the W800B minus the lack of 3D?

If so I'll be picking it up tomorrow. I just want to make sure it isn't somehow lower quality overall than the W800B, and considering they have the same picture engine etc I assume it's basically the same.

I was going to buy the 800B soon but it hardly seems worth paying an extra 200-300 for a 3D feature that I don't even really want. Would much rather put that extra money towards a decent soundbar for the 700B if it truly is the exact same aside from the no 3D :)

Also will this price be good in store paying with cash, or will I need to actually order it online? I'm not talking about the $20 off code obviously, happy to pay $899 in store if they'll let me…

  • Coupon code "25OFF" is not valid.

  • Got one of these yesterday! I couldn't get it for the online exclusive $899 but I was expecting that - the in store deal was for $999 which I was still happy with (both deals end tomorrow I believe).

Also got the Sony HTCT60 soundbar that was on special for $179. All up, it came to about the cost of the W800B (when it's on special) which is awesome considering I don't really like 3D, let alone 3D that is reportedly not very good.

This TV is even better than I expected after wanting one of these for a few weeks, and in my bedroom it basically looks like a small cinema screen compared to my 32" TV that I'm now using as my PC monitor. Extremely happy with it so far - haven't even opened the soundbar yet but will set it up today :D

    • why couldn't you get the online one?

    • I got the online price in store with the extra 20 off as well….$879…I love this tv. I have retired my wdtv with the old tv for the kids. It picks up my media server no problems…Great picture.

      Thanks Trent

  • Trent, or someone who has received this TV please advise, how long does it usually take to receive delivery of the Sony 50 TV after ordering? Ordered this Sony TV online 14th October (from previous deal) but it hasn't been dispatched yet. Received a tracking number on 15th, but it's still not tracking. Thanks

    • @Rosered, I ordered on Saturday, TV arrived today..
Tracking never showed anything, was surprised it turned up so quickly.

Seems to be the same TV $100 cheaper (free delivery in my cart) and seller is DS again.

  • Thanks cola, I'm in Adelaide, where are you? Did you get another email with a tracking number from Startrack the courier? Customer service in Philippines tells me that Startrack have not received the TV from Dick Smith. That I will receive another tracking number from Startrack when they receive my TV. But today I got a response by email from Dick Smith saying that the TV has been dispatched on 15th. Looks like they have lost it. I noticed the CatchOfTheDay deal, wondering whether to cancel the original paypal payment and try ordering again through Catch.

  • Sorry for the late reply, but I'm in Sydney.
I had tracking number from Dicksmith I think, said was available to track after 7pm business day, but never was trackable.
