This is a really great deal considering their RRP of just under $200. Even second hand, people are asking about $120-149 for them (on gumtree). Going to buy another one, after I've owned one of these for several months (which I bought originally from Harvey Norman on special at $189), and I can say that I'm pretty impressed with it. Very nice finish to them and easy to use. Sound quality is very good/excellent at all sound levels. The other advantages of this speaker is that it is "splash proof" and has an excellent battery life compared to equivalent products. In addition, if you happen to have two of these babies, they can be run as independent left and right channels ie. stereo. Note, that stereo sound can only be run from the iPhone app. Pairing with a laptop (for example) will only produce mono sound. As far as I know, there is no way to produce stereo sound from 2 UE logitech speakers from a laptop.

    • When you say you can only run two units in stereo via the iphone app, does that mean that you can't use other apps on your phone e.g. spotify?

      • I don't know for sure because I only have one UE Logitech boom and can't test it. Also, I only just play music from an iPhone playlist, and don't use Spotify myself. I tried a quick search on google and didn't find too much, except that it seems that Logitch and Spotify have got together for collaboration, so I think it would be likely you'd be able to pair the speakers as separate channels and use Spotify.

However, in the UE Boom app, you can "turn on" stereo (or double up ie. double the power of a single sound source). In the UE Boom program, it states, "After the two UE Booms have been synced together for the first time, they will then automatically Double up the next time they are both powered on together. In the double up section of the app, you can choose how you would like the speakers to behave. There are two options: STEREO - in this mode, the two speakers play as a stereo pair, with one speaker dedicated to the left channel and one speaker dedicated to the right. You can even define which of the two UE Booms should be left or right. DOUBLE - In this mode, the two speakers play identical streams".

This implies (to me), that as long as you do this in the UE Boom program on the mobile device (android, iPhone or iPad), then it will automatically stay as left/right channels no matter what program you use. You may have to leave the program on in the back ground for it to work, but I don't think that this is the case.

      • The app itself doesn't play music so the answer is yes, once you've used the double up feature it'll work with any app on your phone. I don't have two of these, but from the look of the (android) app and what I've read, the app actually links the two together so one becomes the master and the other the slave, and it'll work with any app/music source. You can then even use it with your computer (assuming your computer has bluetooth) for stereo, but you'll need to do the initial double up linking on the phone.
But for $266 (or $246 after credit cash back) there are better bluetooth stereo speakers.
I use mine in the shower to listen to podcasts. I'm not sure if it's cyanogenmod or the speaker, but there's occasional pairing issues. Don't have a non-CM phone to try.
Depending on how you value that $10 store credit, this could be the cheapest it has ever been outside of a 5 minute ebay sale (where I snagged mine): https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/160027

    • Sorry to say but $189 ain't on special :P. I bought 2 the first week they came out - about 16 months ago. One from Myer for $150 and then price matched the other at JB because Myer ran out of stock.

      • Who's saying $189 is on special???

        • Umm you did. You said you bought one on special at HN for $189

  • Any advantage to having two? I have one and I'm tempted , can anyone provide firsthand advice if it is that much better? the single unit goes plenty loud for most peoples use (indoors anyway) so what is the real advantage, other than stereo channeling? (which doesn't seem that great an advantage from a mobile speaker anyway)

  • How do u get the $10 store credit? The link is broken

    • Just order online and select pick up on store option.

    • Yeah, just order (and pay) online and go to the store, pick up speaker and they give you a $10 voucher. I just did it today (25/10/14) at the Hectorville store after ordering it last night through the above link. Ended up just buying some monitor wipes with the extra $10 while I was there.

  • After going through reviews on youtube, bought one. Thanks OP ! My only concern will be non-replaceable battery.
