I posted a JB HI-FI deal a few months back that covered all the sales. A user "found" a deal within the deal I posted and posted that one himself. I claimed it was a dupe and mods told me it wasn't. So I guess this one is fine.

        • +29

I understand that you feel extremely passionate about this, but I would never have seen this deal had it not been posted and put in the topic.

I'm sure there are many like myself who have better things to do than click on deals that don't hit us in the title to find things that are hidden. Nor do we have time to retroactively browse back through deals to check if something has changed.

Take a chill pill, this is a successful post.

        • +4

Yes. It is hidden. It was posted 6 days ago.

    • +15

its all bargains stop being so anal

    • do you mean merge by just editing the title? lol i didn't know. thought one product one post or it will get too messy

    • +4

Ozbargain has a front page? I don't think I've ever seen it. I always go to https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals

      • The front page is for stuff that's been Brodened already.

    • Highdealer, I believe that it was an appropriate post - as I would never have found it if it had been merged as you suggest. While I can understand your POV, sometimes things don't have to fit into 'correct' boxes in order to do the job properly.

If it helps, just consider it from another perspective: someone posted a deal which many people would have otherwise have missed. This is a success. Be happy that ozbargain is working :)

  • +33

thanks. i wouldn't have noticed this sale if it weren't for the individual post.

    • +3

I'm in the same boat. I think there are some deals where it needs to be seen on a case by case basis.

In this case, the public have voted and put it on the front page.

    • Same :)

  • +1

Got killing floor and 2xskyrim for $1 NICE :D

    • Couldn't really find anything else to use my voucher on so I went and got another killing floor and skyrim for free :D. Killing floor is 4 player co-op right?

      • +1

Killing Floor can have much larger servers than 4. Fantastic game, one of my most played on Steam along with Payday 2 and Civ 5.

    • I got 2x killing floor and 1x skyrim.
It was free on Steam (weekend), and it was a hilarious MP game.

  • Star Drive is apparently abandoned by devs

  • Pity there aren't any mac games? Good deal for Skyrim though, top game!

    • +1

I believe Killing Floor works for Mac! Brilliant game when you play with friends! We really need Ozbargain game servers! :)

  • Are they keys or steam gifts?

    • +6

After purchasing, please follow these instructions to enjoy your content:

      i. We'll send you a didgio.com redemption code via email within 24 hours, and add it to your Catch Account
ii. Go to didgio.com/redeem and follow the instructions to register with didgio
iii. didgio will add your Steam redemption key to your didgio library - once on didgio, follow the easy instructions to redeem and download the game key from Steam and start playing immediately!

      So Steam key.

      • +3

seems overly involved though. Wish they just gave the key :p

        • +1

Well they have to make money somehow, and with this case make money by introducing you to a relatively less know vendor.

COTD make money from a deal with didgio.

Didgio make money when people come back to buy more from them after good experience with this deal.

  • Cheers.

  • Nice but will have to see if keys run out…

I built a PC earlier this year - mainly for home office use as I game on consoles almost exclusively.

Therefore didn't put in dedicated graphics - or a sound card - but am running a good mobo.

    From memory it's a high-end i5 processor and 8GB system RAM.

How intensive is this game on a system like mine?

I'm aware of the title but never played the series - reviews well. Easily worth $3, but no point if I waste 6GB downloading the beast only to find my system doesn't like it!

    • +6

How do you have the knowledge to build your own computer but not know what it can handle? And the answer is no. Skyrim will not run well without a dedicated GPU.

      • Exactly for the reasons I outlined above - PC building is easy (although clearly not my day job!) but I don't throw games at my rig - ever.

I was just wondering given I know mobos have a lot more inbuilt capacity these days than they used to.

Judging by the comments below it would be worth giving it a crack at that price point - will confirm my integrated graphics deets tonight.

        Thanks all.

        • +1

Motherboards do not do any processing. Regardless of how good it is, it wont help you play Skyrim. Your integrated CPU graphics will not be able to run this on decent graphics settings, if at all.

        • @blm93:

You're quite right my friend. Was typing in a hurry to get out of office last night.

Happy to see this as an experiment.

If it runs with integrated graphics (HD4600) suitably that's nice. If not - no prob. Not looking to squeeze a graphics card into my mini ITX case.

EDIT: Further reading suggests this will run perfectly fine (as mirrored by other comments in this thread) with some tweaks to the Skyrim graphic settings. I know I won't be giving this a run on Ultra though!

    • +1

If it has an Intel HD 4400, HD 5000 or better then you can play it on medium settings on 720 resolution, it'll be like the console version. Game is more limited by CPU than by GPU. There are a couple of great mods that improve performance with no graphical loss also.

YouTube Skyrim Intel HD For proof.

For $3 bucks it is a great deal for a great game.

      • +1

In case it wasn't clear your I5 has an intel HD4600 so it should be fine. This game is fairly old now so should be able to run ok.

      • It won't, this article is from 2011 and in early 2012 Bethesda released a patch improving the performance of the game up to 40% for some people. They released several other patches afterwards and the combined effect leaves a much more stable game then when it was first released.

Any benchmark guides from late 2012 onwards would be of great benefit.

        • @morini:

          Yes yes, very good.

On the Intel HD you can see around 30fps at 1080p low preset and 39fps at 720p low preset, so playable. Couple of performance mods I listed here already, add the fantastic memory patch in the latest SKSE and enboost and you have a very smooth experience.

        • @FabMan:

Excellent - seems to be going well.

I'm going to install skse this weekend - I've read up on that and seems to be a straightforward install with a few steps to get it up and running and then .ini file creation to patch the mem.

For Enboost do you use the nexus mod manager to install it, or separate / standalone process?

        • +1

          @fookos:

          Separate installation for enboost.

First step is to download latest ENB binary:
          http://enbdev.com/mod_tesskyrim_v0264.htm

Then get the 5.0 file from:
          http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/38649/?tab=2&navtag=htt…

From the binary extract files from "WrapperVersion" folder to your Skyrim game folder where TESV.exe file is. Then from the 5.0 file extract the enblocal.ini from the Intel folder to your Skyrim game folder where TESV.exe file is

With SKSE extracted also the Skyrim folder, run skse_loader.exe, enboost will automatically work.

          More info about ENBoost at:
          http://wiki.step-project.com/ENBoost

          Guide to core modding at:
          http://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:Guide

        • @FabMan:

          Thanks for that!

          Just a query:

Is the enblocal.ini in the 5.0 file (intel) you have pointed me to definitely preferable to the enbglobal.ini file already found in the ENB binary, which appears newer?

There are also additional command settings in the version from the binaries that are absent from the 5.0 version from the nexus mods site (including some mentions found here: http://wiki.step-project.com/ENBoost)

That should be my final question - Cheers.

        • +1

          @fookos:

No worries, ENB was originally built to make certain games look better, however they come with a performance hit dropping frame rates. You would probably like those graphic enhancements but your computer could not run them, my PC is a good gaming machine and I still prefer not to use all those bells and whistles as I want my game running smoother.

The enbglobal.ini from the Intel folder disables pretty much all the graphic enhancements, leaving the game looking the same without it, but in developing ENB they've built some fantastic memory management tools that make the games run better also, so that Intel based ini is designed to just keep those stability and performance enhancing features in but not turn on all those resource hungry graphics.

STEP is fantastic but can be a little overwhelming for people new to it, that is why I recommended just a couple of mods and the applications that get rid of bugs and improve performance. STEP takes it a lot further.

If you tweak ENB and glitches occur, you can always grab that Intel ini and use that to replace it again.

        • +1

          @FabMan:

          Thanks FabMan - sage advice!

All up and running with those enhancements and mods.

Just pulling down the 'unofficial skyrim patch' now via the nexus mod manager and that should do me for now.

Thanks for assisting. Hope this helps others too.

  • +1

how the hell does COTD make money on these?

    • +1

You sign up when you buy

      They spam you

Maybe you buy something with a profit on

    • +1

By releasing a code, and then having 100 deals posted on here using that code.

      Free advertising for them!

  • +1

How are developers and the publishers making any cash from this? Surely somewhere in this chain is being stuffed.

    • +2

They already made the bulk of profit from sales of when skyrim was $90. Since it's digital any more money is just gravy.

      • +1

        I concur.

  • Thanks OP :)

  • Got Skyrim, Killing Floor and Lucius. Cheers :)

  • Looks like you can buy it multiple times and still use the BDAY code.

    ALL THE SKYRIMS!

  • Yes but then to play the game, takes soo much time.

  • Thank you COTD for the $10 vouchers from the eneloop sale a few weeks back, couple of free great games!

  • Yeap.. bought 12 codes for $4! :)

  • Horse vulva mods here I come!

    • The bday code is ….. wait .. for .. it …: BDAY

just add 2x copies to your card and apply the bday code..

      • Where is the spot to apply the code? Cant seem to see it.

        Edit: Dont worry, found it.

  • +4

I got one free and paid for another as a gift, just coz COTD deserve a wink and a nod for this awesome deal.

    • ;) Thanks! /nods

  • +2

You got me excited with the world of goo '2' …

    • I saw this too :( 3x Skyrim for $1 is good though :)

    • For a short while I was so freaking excited :(

  • Thanks for the awesome day :) was waiting for skyrim for agess. Anyone got their codes yet or email to that digital site to get the codes ?

  • 'This is a SPECIAL ORDER and will take 2-4 weeks to Dispatch. You will receive a further email on Dispatch with a tracking number. '

Anyone else get that in their order confirmation?

  • Nice one! Got Skyrim and Super Meat Boy for free.

  • Don't really understand how it works I used the code BDAY earlier on the Micro SD does it only work once on the account?

    • +1

      Only works once now, yup.

      • -3

        That's very disappointing….

        • +16

We're sorry the discount we're already offering doesn't meet your needs.

        • +4

          @CatchoftheDay:

          Snap. LOL.

  • awesome, thanks!

  • So roughly how long until we get the codes?

    • The item pages are saying special order dispatch in 1 day so i'm going by that.

  • Heh, I found this posted on several non-Australian websites. Seems like everyone is jumping in on the deal. Not sure what CotD's policy is on fake addresses but I'm sure there's going to be a lot of those.

  • Anyone else getting this error "Coupon conditions have not been met."?

    • Did you make a new account?

As the BDAY coupon is only valid for existing customers prior to the coupon annoucement

      • ^ Is correct. You have to have been a Catch customer before October 25. Do you qualify?

        • +2

Yeah its a new account, makes sense. Thank you

        • Do i win a prize? :D

  • Thanks OP!
