  • I saw one at garden city qld for $59.99 it might be displayed stock left

  • These were all brand new in the box, at both stores… And they had quite a number at Mudgeeraba. I grabbed one, figure I can take it back if I don't like it. So far it seems quite nice to use, especially for its price bracket.

There's no HDMI socket, but there is an FM Radio that wasn't mentioned. It can act as a hotspot as well. Has screen casting, but isn't that a Kitkat feature?

    • How does it look in portrait mode? I want a cheap low-spec tablet for reading comics and stuff but most TFT tablets I've seen look horrid in portrait.

        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ASUS-Nexus-Nexus-7-8GB-Wi-Fi-7-Bl…

if alot of storage isnt needed look out for 8gb 1st gen nexus 7 such as the one i linked above you can pick them up cheap.
hat one above took me seconds to find in newly listed

        • I also want something bigger than 7" which is making my search really difficult :(

@roseyhead: HP Touchpad. If you can find one that is.. Probably on ebay. 9.7" screen. Super easy to put android on it now, then you've got the full play store.

Oh, and they support wireless charging. Pretty sweet unit, shame they abandoned them!

        • @ryang: Can you recommend a process for this? I have had one for ages, but was too lazy to put Android on it as it was doing what I needed, but the browser is starting to let me down and HP are pulling the pin in the store so I figure now is a good time

        • @Jackson: Google Touchpad Toolbox, by the excellent jscullins. Does everything for you, except download the files!

I did it the hard way years ago, but used TPToolbox last time I updated. Super easy!!

      • You get two months to return it, no questions asked…
Is not a hi res screen but it's not bad. Speed of the thing is pleasantly surprising.

about all it's worth with those low specifications.

      If you've got a better deal for a 9" 3G tablet, then we're all ears bro…

I thought this was kind of stupid until I saw the 3g…

  • None at Chatswood.

  • I was thinking this would make a good GPS for use in car. With a large 9" screen. Just not sure how good or loud the speaker is. Although from previous coments on Ozbargain and Whirlpool screen does not have a very good contrast and videwing angle. But for the price it may be worth a look.

  • Anyone first day one anywhere around Syd?

    • $74.99 @ Fairy Meadow store.

  • Got mine from Glendale nsw they have a few left at $74.99

  • Saw these in Aldi Mona Vale and Dee Why this afternnon. $74.99. Not sure how many as I only saw 1 each store in the glass display cabinet.

Also $8.99 at Dee Why store for the accessory pack that goes with this tablet.

Aldi Fairy Meadow (Woollongong NSW area) had stocks of these as of yesterday Sunday 9th November.

Since their "mega clearance" sale has ended, the price has reverted to $89.

Some other Aldis had the price tag showing $74.99 in the glass display cabinet, but no stock. Above branch definitely has multiple units, according to helpful manager.
