    nah - when your cable doesn't work you can buzz out all the contacts with the continuity function on the meter.

  Great price, especially for pick up. The multimeter usually costs about $4.50 delivered from Chinese sites and about $12 at Bunnings.

  Whenever these multimeters are mentioned, there are comments from people who don't really have a clue, insisting that they are dangerous. This old sparky says that they are not. I got one for my missus so that she can test dichro lamps in the store she manages. The leads are nothing flash, but i have no qualms about sticking the probes into power points etc.

  $5 for the multimeter and cable is obviously a great buy.

  Edit. Just checked their usual price for the multimeter and its about 50% dearer than Bunnings.

    So tell me, what will happen when somebody forgets the red lead is in the UNFUSED 5A socket, and tries to measure the voltage of their car battery, directly onto the battery contacts?

    And what will happen if they have the red probe in the unfused 5A socket, and try measuring the voltage across something that is faulty - perhaps measuring across a fuse that has blown, and thereby re-energizing something - perhaps a motor that has shorted?

    Unskilled people will use multimeters in ways that you wouldn't, because you have training. They don't.

    At least this multimeter has shrouded banana sockets. Not all of the ones posted here do. Most of the complaints I have seen about multimeters were justified, either for unfused inputs, unshrouded banana sockets, and/or ridiculously thin insulation of the probe wires.

      $5 wouldn't even buy a decent ceramic fuse and a blast shield

      Tools, especially testing equipment is not somewhere you want to be cutting corners

        I've often wondered: are HRC (ceramic) fuses really necessary, if you aren't testing high-voltage DC? For DC<32V and for AC<300V, is a "normal" 20-cent glass fuse adequate?

  i own a similar multimeter i bought from a Chinese seller on ebay for $5
  they are actually quite decent expecially for the price, use it for automotive electricals all the time

  Superb, cheap HDMI cable and a cheap multimeter to buzz continuity check it if it don't work. If only all cheap cable suppliers bundled multimeters :-)
