Nooooo don't do it!!!! Total data all up is still less (800MB v 1.1GB on the $30 recharge).
PS not sure if this really counts as a deal given Beyond Talk arguably still gives better value anyway due to data packs and 30-day expiry.
Ah, true. Thanks, man. Not thinking to switch coz I don't always need that much data. I have like $150-ish in my balance now (rolled over from previous months)
well you have to compare like for like
its not really 800mb vs 1.1gb, given on the freedom you won't need to spend your $30 'real' credit. But yes, I do agree that Encore is generally more favourable than Freedom (ability to buy plus packs, also 30 day vs 28 day expiry), but some bonuses on Freedom do suit some users (anytime/night bonuses and the promo double data)
For people that dont use heaps of data/calls and like to switch to simplicity every once in a while, the unspent 'real' credit is real handy.
why is it less? cant you still buy data with the real credit in the freedom plan? I am confused?
On the older Encore plan, you can buy the data using your pre-paid credit. On the newer Freedom plan, you must pay with real money ($) if you want to purchase the extra data
DON'T YOU EVER SWITCH MY FRIEND!! I switch to freedom was the biggest mistake. If i had the chance go back to encore i would definitely go back right now. Just stay with encore until they actually shut it down or force you to switch

I'm still on their old Encore pre-paid. Using your credits to purchase more data when needed + for Telstra MOG subscription is golden. Contemplating whether I should make a switch
This sounds like an awesome bonus though, but not sure if they are going to extend it after April, and I'm going to miss MOG
