930

$79.99 for the 8GB

While it says refurbished, there is speculation on on the Nexus 4 deal that they are selling new old stock as refurbished items.

It's quite possible these could be new 'old' stock rather than true refurbs. I only say this because back in July when I bought a 32GB Nexus 7 from them ($95 delivered) it was sold as refurb but I'm damn sure it was brand new. Battery was and still is absolutely amazing on it. No sign of any wear or use whatsoever.

Don't base your purchase on my experience but just saying there could be some truth to the new old stock comment.

$19 delivery to regional VIC here.

On a side note, pitty the 32GB/$95d couldn't be repeated or I'd snap up another. Paying more for less… I'll probably pass. But still a decent deal for those looking for a cheap tablet, despite its age is still pretty good.

    • Yes I don't want to say its 100% going to be brand new stock either (I have never bought anything from them), just pointing the comments from a lot of buyers of the recent refurbished Nexus 4s that a lot of people were convinced they were brand new.

If you buy an official Apple refurb they look absolutely new. They have a new case, new battery and new accessories all in a white box.

Not sure how refurbed Nexus items are but it should be more then a wipe down with a clean rag.

Factory refurbs often look new, ie apple put a new battery and new shell on… got an official refurb nexus 7 about 18 months ago and it looked like new as there was not a mark on it, not skipped a beat since either…

    • Agree with your side note, Click_It. I bought two 16gb for the kids in the expansys deals a few months back for $65 each! Wish I'd grabbed a third one at the same time for the wife.

This will also be getting the Lollipop update, apparently.

  • do these have hdmi or any way to connect to tv

    • +5

Surely you have a Chromecast by now? Haha
      …that's one option..

      • yes i have several CC but my nephew dont and want to get him hooked up and this could be a extra notepad

        • I think cc would be the best option esp with the all cast app…I've had HDMI adaptors on my Samsung tablet and it never looked right. Aspect ratio was off and distorted…no experience with the nexus hopefully some one else has tried.

    • No HDMI or MHL/display port, but Allcast works well for me with a cheapy dongle. The video playback and sound on the unit itself is decent enough as well. Chromecast is dependent on the wi-fi link the chromecast unit makes - the starting/browsing unit functions just as the remote, however the Chrome "beta" android browser does have a `cast' option now. It was a bit tiresome having my laptop mirror i-view to the TV while my Google tablet merely sat running around like a head with its chook cut off.

    • Unfortunately the 2012 N7 missed out on HDMI/slimport. The only way to get your screen to the tv is either Chromecast or Miracast

N7 plus the USB ROM makes the perfect in car tablet system. http://mehrvarz.github.io/nexus-7-usbrom/

    • Yep - perfect 2X DIN. If I wasn't playing my tracks via an N97, I'd have the old stereo out and the tablet in. The other option is to take the time to make a frame to charge through the pogo pins to let you have a hub hanging off the OTG….

Great deal. It will get lollipop also.

  • Shame about 1GB of ram.

  • Thanks OP! Been waiting on a N7 deal

  • Can anyone please tell me if phones from expansys attract GST?

  • Wish I hadn't recently bought my little nephew a 7 inch pendo pad for $99….would have grabbed this instead.

  • So how would this compare to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite? It's $129 for the 8GB from Kogan.

Looking to buy 3 for christmas presents so this deal would be cheaper.

    • The tab3 has an sd card slot [up to 32 gig] and a dual core processor. The Nexus has a quad core, and a way superior screen resolution.

"…and a way superior screen resolution"

Not quite. This is the first gen Nexus 7 with 1280x800 vs (1024x600). Nexus 7 (2013 version) is 1920x1200.

He was comparing it to the Tab7 lite -> 600 x 1024, so yes, a way superior screen resolution. my ~60 year old eyes can clearly see the difference. 170ppi > 216 ppi makes a difference, especially for a younger set of eyes especially when viewing text.

        • @terrys:
It was you not someone else. I acknowledged that it was better and noted the Tab 7 lite's screen resolution.

Just not "way superior" presuming you were referring to the 2013 version which actually is "way superior"…

The digitizer recently died on my 2012 Nexus 7, so I may purchase one of these instead of a new screen/digitiser.
Its almost as cheap as purchasing a new LCD panel + digitiser from ebay.

I got mine yesterday and it looks totally brand new - all packaging etc, though the power pack was american style. They did give me an aussie charger though.

    Great deal!

    • That was quick.

I already have one and so does my girlfriend so I didn't buy one, although I was really tempted to buy one as a spare I thought if it lasts me another year or 2 we might be picking up the 2nd gen ones refurbished for under $100.

    • Nice to hear you got yours.

My tracking shows delivery was signed for by someone other than myself and anyone that lives with me.

      • How do I track it?

  • Arrived today.

    Looks new.
