  • What do you think about the battery? 4 hours?

    • I'm interested to know also. As it's a U processor, I'm hoping it's more than the standard 4 hours.

GPU ranks 147, which is closest to the Nvidia 730M

      • +1

Based on the review in above link battery life seems great -

More than 6 hours of browsing time via Wi-Fi is indeed above average (most competitors offer around 4 hours), as is 5 hours of movie playback time - more than enough even for longer train rides. Generally speaking, the battery life of the Dell Inspiron 15-5547 is pretty capable of handling most everyday situations while also yielding a weight reduction due to the much smaller battery pack.

  • it is $1079 on their website, only a savings of $80. I think you can get more discount if you talk to the live chat.

It has slightly different specs (HD non-ips screen) and no mcafee live safe.

      • this is the better deal then. Mcafee is not concern to me as I don't use antivirus. Quite odd that they do not offer 1080p on their website.

        • lol I've never known Dell to be consistent in anything they do and we've been a customer of theirs for over 15 years.

    • Wait I never knew you could haggle down the price by talking to them on live chat.

    • it's $400 off, the website and the ebay are run by the same people so they both have the discount.

  • can this play diablo 3 good?

I had an undervolted i7 laptop before. Compared to my other proper i7 laptop it was much slower and sometimes even painful to use. Good for light usage though.

  • The screen resolution on the Dell website lists this as only HD screen res ((1366 x 768) Can anyone confirm that this is FHD (1920 x 1080)?

Keep in mind, this is a dual core not quad core i7 (noted by the lack of the Q in the model name). Damn mobile processors :P http://ark.intel.com/products/81015/Intel-Core-i7-4510U-Proc…

    • Thanks for the heads up. Would I be better off getting a i5 quad core for photo editing?

      • There's no such thing as a mobile quad core i5.

And yeah, a desktop i5 would be faster than a U series i7.

  • I bought one of this half year ago, same price. Very disappointed. The CPU always running on a very high usage with the 'Windows Management Instrumentation' service. It makes the fan running very loudly. Cheap build quality. Battery can be used on word application for 3 hours. The screen frame is a lot of wider than the picture showed. Not worth.

  • is this better than the Inspiron 7447?

    • +1

no, the inspiron 7447 belongs to the 7000 family which is supposed to be better than the 5000, build quality and spec wise.

      • thanks!

  • I've got the Inspiron 15 7000 series which is somewhat similar. Keep in mind that this is Dell's cheap replica of the Macbook. Even though its an i7 it does feel slightly underpowered to me. Battery life is amazing, I've got 6/7hours+ but thats with brightness at 20% (which is high enough for me). Reflective screen in the sun which is quite annoying. It's moderately heavy too.

  • I can't find any FHD i7 alternatives around the same price.

    • The 7447 from the dell store is $400 more but come with FHD and 4gb Graphics card! I bought one the other week and it is pretty good value!

  • Anybody else having troubles with their order? I bought one almost a complete month ago and the delivery keeps getting delayed.
I bought it through the Dell website link rather than eBay.
