@bargdebarg if you haven't gotten your new camera yet, looks like now might be a good time.

Hi - no not yet. That is a decent price on the 5D for local - if you factor in the 5% gift card discount.

I've decided to go Nikon though. Canon DSLR full frame tech is a little outdated compared to Nikon. It will be interesting to see what they release after all these years!

Was tossing up between Nikon D610 or D750, but the D610 won as I'll have a bit more money to spend on glass. Also, the D610 is a solid performer in low light, one of my key needs. Going to go grey for this one - currently $1,429.00 from DWI. They warranty claims process isn't too bad. I'll also get the Nikon 50mm f 1.8 from them.

I need to have a play with my intended "travel" lens before pulling the trigger - but thinking it will be the Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 - based on my research. However, I'll buy locally as grey imports on third party lenses are not good for warranty claims.

Thanks to the feedback from the bargs, the D610 is a far better choice for me than the 5D!

      • And ended up changing my mind and getting the d750!

Am I having a brain fart? Referring to your second example, wouldn't it be $594.15 for camera plus other $200 canon product = $794.15, minus $300 cashback = $494.15?

    • Thanks. Corrected.

      • then sell the $200 item for $150, makes a 700D body $344… :D

        • If you can sell. Gumtree and eBay peeps ruthless! Christmas gift maybe?

  • Ok, now need to find a Canon 1200D around $300-400 to get TRS and then $100 cash back :D

    Cheapest 1200D i could find is http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/category1457_1.htm

$444, then TRS down to $403.64 then $100 Cashback to $303.64

    • Did you buy one, Check Dicksmith deals

      • Thanks. Pretty cheap!

        • Please check my comment If buy with IXUS 145 still cheaper one of best deals if you can claim TRS even better

        • @sachy: far out that's great! So it works out at about $331 after TRS and cash backs for two cameras?

        • @clarky:

          It's actually better..

Total price on invoice from dse will be 429+89-60=$458

          TRS refund will be 458÷11=$41.64

          Canon cashback 100+20=$120

          Money spent 458-41.64-120=$296.36

        • @CVonV: ok so i didn't know about the 60bells, wow! And it's double cashback for the ixus due to canon product over $200. $276.36

        • @clarky:

Oh yeah 2x20 on the cashback (Y)

  • Hmm, 70D body-only currently $1146 at JB, take away $150 will by $996. Decision, decision…

  • +3

Unfortunately, no cashback for EOS7D Mark 2.

  • I'm looking for a compact and good camera.. Any recommendations? Is the S200 any good at $191.25?

    • +1

yes very good and even better with $50 cashback.. $141.25!

wish the Canon G7 X was out already though

      • Great mate.. mission accepted going to call to reserve one now.. might check it out before I commit to buying it.

JB have lenses in store, and I think the offer is valid at all "Authorised Canon Dealers". JB Hifi is just an example :)

  • -1

Where does it say that buying extra $200 canon product we get $300 cashback?

    • +3

      Nevermind…

  • Anyone knows whether I can claim a cashback if I buy from JR duty free? I checked the canon website and it's not in the Authorised Canon Reseller list. Waiting for canon's respone.

BTW, that's the deal I am waiting for. Even better than the cashback in last year XD

    • +1

      Not authorised = no cashback.

This is pretty much the same deal as a few months ago for most dslr.

      • Canon said JR duty free is ok:)

  • Awww come on Canon, 7D Mk II is not in the list and I was just considering getting one :(

  • Any one know if i can get a 700D body then spend 200 on a 18-55 and 55-250 lens under the 200?

or have suggestions what other cannon products to buy? maybe a flash? I have no clue :(

    • If you want kit lenses, it's cheaper to buy as a kit.

  • So it turns out JB does have the G7 X but at a ripoff $949 tagged price.. and it's not eligible for cashback.. good one Canon!

    • It could be just a spin to make you buy. I saw the same thing on Georges website. 1200D is $249 (after $200 cash back) but you have to buy something else to get a price of $249

      • Just emailed them and got this:

'Hi! Yes, they will be shown as separate items! So you will be eligible for the double cashback!'

Cool beans, might finally jump in!

        • yep i got the same response

Hi! Lens and body will be shown as separate items, so you will be eligible for the double cashback!

        • Sounds risky for me, wouldn't Canon be able to find out the little trick we are playing here?

        • I sent them an email and they did not reply.

    • +1

I think they are considering the body and lens as two canon products.

      • It depends on how the invoice reads, if the items are listed separately (& one of the lenses it at over $200) it doesn't matter if it's a twin kit or not… Your major chains (harveys, dick smith & JB) won't be able to split the kits to sell it out separately though so only the single cashback will apply (unless you purchase something else canon over $200)

        • Sent them an email.. let's see

i think it is just a ploy though.. doubt they'll separate the lens on the invoice

  • Is JB Hifi an authorised dealer?
I'm searching on Canon's website and they list my local Dick Smith, Big W, Bing Lee, Good Guys, HN and Myer but no JB Hifi.

    • It is. I got this last deal with cash back on my 6D i bought at JB HIFI.

      • Thanks.

I had a look on JB Hifi's website today and they mention the cashback now.
Strange that Canon's website didn't show JB Hifi as a reseller.

  • OP mentioned about using 5% Woolworths or Big W gift cards to buy JB Hifi gift cards. Would someone please explain this like how to get 5% gift card?

  • You can purchase a Canon 6D $1699 + a $271 PnS camera Powershot SX700HS.

So you will get %15 total price from Jbhifi + $400 cashback + bucks from selling back your brand-new SX700HS.

If you can do TRS tax refund 10%, you can end up to get the Canon 6D at around $1100 and maximize the saving.

    Good deal, thanks for posting.

  • I got the 700D body + S200 from jb hifi. I asked them to give the S200 for $200 (instead of $191.25). Initially the sales girl said she couldn't cos she'll be "flagged". So I asked if I could talk to the manager. She got him and he said it was all good. They asked me why and I explained the double cashback.

Then I used my ING card to paywave the shit out of $99.99 gift cards. Forgot I had a $10 cokerewards jb hifi gift card too -_-

  • Sweet deal. Got the 700D body $575 and d30 $279. So $854 total with $300 cash back coming.

    Great deal thanks op.

    • Which retailer?

      • JB - just asked for a deal

        • +1

Nice you got more than the 15% off :)

  • I bought a 5D like two weeks ago. There's no way they'll honour anything prior to 13/11 would they???

  • I'm thinking to buy 700D but I don't know anything about lens or camera. Can anyone give me suggestion on which one should I go for and which site should I buy from? I'll be just using to take photo while traveling.

  • Wow…bought 1200D yesterday for Mrs birthday. Uploaded receipt today and 30mins later I get an email that its approved..My experiences of cashbacks have never been great so am pleasantly surprised.
