    $50?! ..can't complain :)

You won't say that after you get it.

    • it's old Mx chip, AmLogic no longer support this chip.
hence there is no way you can get kitkat OS

      maximum overclock speed is 1.32GHz.
gets very hot, battery life reudce to 4-5hours

    • I'd better to save $49.

  • I think the Quad Core for $79 was pretty good. I don't know how well the dual core is.

You can get a Laser brand Quad Core for $99 at Biggie W. I'm not sure if the screen is any better.

  • Will be good if someone post a review here after you bought and tried it.

  • Looks better than the $49 one I bought from Coles recently, has bluetooth/GPS, extra camera, better resolution, 4.2 OS. They aren't too bad for what they are. I just wanted a remote control for my Chromecast.

No good, too under powered (for videos) all right for just surfing.

I'm in Tokyo with no TV in my apartment, watching tv & video over WiFi on a single core $29 Huawei 7" from Coles. I mainly use it as a video / music player for travel. Bloody amazing for the price, with GPS & Bluetooth. Video is great, but surfing internet is pretty hopeless. Expect this unit should be better.

Instead of negging me, point out and make a bloody argument!!!

  • Make sure it's a glass screen and not plastic

  • @anyone that already owns one

How's the battery life? I want to use it for TV with my HDhomerun.

    • I Doubt anyone does, they have only been selling for the past few weeks

      • Really? Didn't know they only recently released this. Looks like DSE are selling the same model for $89.

Well on a budget tab if it gets at least an avg of 6hrs screen on time I'll be happy.

        • u get 6 hours time if it's clock at 1.0GHz, maybe 1.2GHz (many high intensive graphics game lags like crazy)

          at 1.32GHz, i doubt you get 6Hrs

  • Hi All, would this be suitable for young kids to watch movies on whilst in the car. Looking at getting some universal head rest mounts then just using the tablets in the car. All the tablets will be used for is watching movies in the car.

    Thanks

    • More than fast enough so should be adequate. What resolution files are you going to use with it [480p/720p/1080p]?

      • It is only a 7" screen so perhaps I will convert files down to 480p?

Any recommendations for cheap headrest mount and what is the best free video player on android?

        Cheers

        • It should be able to play at least 720p & even 1080p natively w/o conversion. Just depends on the bitrate of your files cause if its too high it will start to skip frames/lag/stutter. Note anything over 720p won't make a difference quality wise on such a small display.

          Mounts on eBay.

As for video app I personally use MXplayer

          Hope that helps!

  • Hmm gone up to $59 now

    • Both DSE & Target have upped their prices by $10.

      • That sucks. Was actually about to head in there to have a look as I need an el cheapo tablet to take on holidays.

        • Same. I was holding off making a C&C order as I was looking at other options. Oh well, there already are/will be better deals soon in the next month or so. No biggie…

        • Hey Chicken, same thing I was looking at loads of different options for a cheap (<$100) tablet to take on holidays for a GPS and tethering Boingo access to my notebook. That sort of $$$ mostly buys a bunch of drama in cheap junk or used Nexus 7 (2012), Acer Iconia, old Sammy single/dual cores etc.

Finally sprang for the PendoPod 7 quad core (I wouldn't bother with the dual core fr $20) - there's a severe lack of info on these even on the pendo site as well as Target, but I am pleasantly surprised with it so far.
Good performance for an el cheapo tablet, would benefit from more storage and 2Gb RAM.
Compared to wife's N7 - nice and light as well as much smaller, almost pocketable.
Battery life seems decent (should improve after a few cycles) and Wi-Fi reception's good.
Satellites locked much faster than my S2, my old S1, Huawei Y201's and N7 etc.
Adding a Sammy EVO 32GB microSD fixes the lack of storage (and still under $100).
Cheap all plastic casing (not ugly or bad) and sub-standard LCD.

Really the only BAD things I have found are that if you try to do too many things at once it throws it's hands in the air and reboots. Also a technical issue working with our network. It won't bother most people, but when you are as security paranoid as me (I'm in the industry) then it causes considerable pain.

        • @rayski57:
Cheers, I actually bought the same one the other night as well! :D

  • They are still $49 in store. Just bought 2 at Caroline Springs target. There was only 1 left at Watergardens. So if you are still after one then try calling you local store.
