    Use a $ sign op

    • done

  • Is this pre-order discounted, what's the normal price?

I will not support this company as it doesn't recognised Australia, mail forwarding is a joke.

    • +2

I can't afford to not support companies that don't recognise Australia for deliveries :/ But I do make sure to send them an email feedback that they should deliver to AU.

      • +3

        freakin OnePlus one.
They should freaking deliver to AU already.

    • +1

It probably costs too much for the relatively small profit they might make here compared to the bigger markets.

    • +1

LOL - Tell that to the thousands of Netflix customers, in reference to 'recognised.' I don't care about the companies, it's all about me!

  • +2

come on, Australia is next to China, preorder country list doesn't have Australia, very disappointed.

  • +4

Unless this pre-order price is cheaper than its usual price, I can't see how this is a bargain?

    • exactly…. not a bargain and they are still not technically shipping to Australia

  • PUT IN TITLE INTERNATIONAL MODEL DIRECT FROM ONEPLUS ONE!
    No flashing required……

How does the shipping from ShopMate compare to ComGateway/HopShopGo?

  • +5

You have gotten the shipping cost wrong…
I am going to use the weight and dimensions of my oneplus one (International version) package that I got a few months ago.

    Weight= 0.73kg
    Dimensions= 26x22x8 (0.9152kg cubic weight)

    Therefore cost=

    Base cost: $24.95
Weight rate: $11.90 (weight/cubic weight greater than 500g)

    Total cost= $36.86

    • +2

Can get it shipped through shipito.com for as little as US$13.35 based on these dimensions.
That is uninsured using airmail economy though, so it will probably take 2-3 weeks or more.
I have been using shipito for years and never had a problem of any kind.
I usually go for TNT express and the package gets here in 2-3 days.
I have used economy airmail before, got here fine, but did take a while.

Anyways, probably the cheapest option for shipping, but maybe not the best.

Warranty is going to be a pain… They won't send back to Australia so you'll need to forward again

I'm almost 100% on buying one really soon, is there any reason to buy the phone via this route as opposed to a grey seller other than saving ~$30?

    • Grey sellers are only selling the chinese version. Depending on the grey seller you use you may need to install cynanogenmod yourself (chinese version comes with colorOS as default). The second difference is that if you intend to use the chinese version overseas you may run into network issues. Warranty may also be an issue if you buy from a grey seller. The chinese version warranty is only valid in china, so if you want to buy the chinese version make sure you buy from a reputable seller, otherwise you may not have warranty.

      • I've had a look around and most seem to be selling the CM version, I'd like to get the 'official' version straight from OnePlus but with the hassle of forwarding I think I'll just go with a Grey seller if theres no downside to the Chinese version (Don't travel internationally)

Are you able to recommend one?

        • From the responses on ozbargain DWI is the best I think…

        • @triviums:

I suppose I'll bite the bullet and pay a bit more! Bit of a shame I didn't cash in when the eBay sales came around. Thanks for the help

        • Just to be clear, no grey seller is selling the CM version. The only way to get the CM version (with the CM logo on the back) is direct from Oneplus themselves.

However, plenty of grey sellers flash CM onto it for you (like DWI), making it functionally equivalent in Australia (the CM and chinese hardware both support exactly the same range of Australian 3G and 4G bands, the only difference is in a USA and Chinese 4G band that we don't have in Australia).

With the flashed version you still get over-the-air (OTA) official OS updates, just like an official.

          Plenty of good info here:
          http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/mobile_phone_oneplus

    • Is there any reason people don't buy this from DWI to get a local warranty? Or any other retailer that does?(I don't know who.)

      • I bought the international version since I wanted to support Oneplus Global (Oneplus is split into two companies one focused on the chinese market and the other focused on the global market). If you support the chinese section of the company, Oneplus might expand the support network for the chinese market when in fact it should be expanding the global support network…Oneplus Global is the only section of the company that could possibly allow Australians to have proper support from OnePlus. Oneplus Global got so much support from India that they are now opening warehouses there soon… I also intend to use my phone overseas in the near future.

Not worth the unnecessary jumping through hoops for to buy direct from a company who have chosen not to sell to a market for no good reason despite being asked for months why….and can't see any discount from the normal pre-order price so this does not constitute a "bargain" anyway.

    • +1

I would have to agree, part of the appeal of this phone is that it is supposed to undercut the prices of similarly specced samsung/sony/lg phones by a decent amount. At this price it does not.

      • I agree with both, not a bargain at this price especially without local warranty.
Cyanogenmod is screweing people over with this phone especially with their service and sending out phones that already have faults in them!

  • I rather wait for the Nexus 6 discount. My current phone is fast enough.

  • Nice phone.

  • +1

    I probably wouldn't…

Seems their customer service is shocking, and a fair chunk of people aren't getting RMAs done properly, if done at all.

  • Just FYI for anyone sending this via shopmate. It appears lithium ion batteries are considered prohibited / dangerous goods according to here.
