there is extra 4 cents off with Flybuys card..

I'm pretty sure that's going to get a bit of scrutiny from the ACCC…

    • why?

      • +4

        http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-12-06/accc-petrol/5140838

ACCC are cracking down on discounts of 8 cents or more unless they are directly related to non-fuel purchases at the petrol station.

Otherwise, Coles and Woolies will succeed in their plan to shut down all the independent petrol stations who cannot sustain big losses over long periods.

        Also,

"Coles managing director Ian McLeod says the company will stop higher fuel discounts to address perceptions that it could adversely affect competition over time."

I wonder if his nose grew when he made that statement…

"Not available in conjunction with your Coles Supermarket fuel discount docket"

jv, it will be only 4c discount. You cannot stack the docket with this offer.

        • +1

They are only giving a 4 cents discount 119.7 / L is for every customer.

        • +2

Also, the price advertised is the non-discounted price (SA Laws), and the 4c discount is additional if you swipe. I don't see the why ACCC would bat an eyelid to this one.

        • @sebby123:

jv, it will be only 4c discount.

they why use the flybuys if you have dockets ???

        • These turkeys basically control the fuel market in Caberra and prices have dropped a massive 7c/l when in most major centres they've dropped ~27cpl - reflecting the Singapore wholesale price drop. Perception = reality in this case. When Costco eventually joins the fray I'll go out of my way to fill up there despite their horrible (fuel) brand name.

        • +1

@Possumbly: It's Mobil product under the brand. ;)

@Icedvovo: Sorry, my comment was too cryptic. I was referring to their business name.

Is this Coles Express near the cheap Costco petrol station?

    • +1

      Yes.

    • yep

    • +4

Yes the one with "THE MOST" screwed up car park maze in Adelaide.

      • Still don't understand why they couldn't put more than one entrance.

        • +1

There's two. The second one is past the Costco servo.

      • Makes the Britannia round-about look safe.

  • +1

Why can't we get something near that, it's all around $1.39 here.

    • +3

its because cost co petrol is there and even cheaper than this deal

      • +1

Costco is 118.7. The Coles and nearby Woolies petrol stations are 119.7 (prior to 4c discount)

        • +2

Do you need a $60 Costco membership to fill up @ a Costco pump?

        • +2

          @snoo: yes you do

        • yeah just letting him know the reason why this area is cheap :)

  • -1

do all my pumps with AMEX small shop in November atm with $20 to $10 at about 129.9/2 = 65c deal is still heaps better than 114.9

  • +3

Caltex Woolworths Blair Athol is also 119.7 for those that prefer.

    • Near Campbelltown?

      • lil bit further south west from that…

        • +1

Sorry I'm talking about Blair Athol, South Australia:

https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/170070 for you sydney folk who think any suburb without a defining state must be in your bubble

        • @snoo: Campbelltown SA isn't too far from Blair Athol SA

        • @amts: True! But SaffireBlack is in NSW.

        • @hamza23: Woops, didn't realise there was a Blair Athol in SA too!
Edit: What are the odds that it is also near a Campbelltown, that's a weird coincidence.

        • +1

          @SaffireBlack:

Also there is a Caltex Woolworths at Campbelltown SA haha

  • +1

So many ozb folks queuing up here, mad house !

  • +1

I was dirty I only had room for 40 litres and didn't have my jerry cans on board!!

  • +2

For those who can't be bothered lining up (there was a line when I was there today, it may have gone down now), Costco next door is 118.7c (with $55/60 per year membership) zero line.

  • -3

Why on earth do people get so worked up about cheap fuel.

30c less at say 60L means you are going to save a whopping $18.

    • +9

Why on earth are you even on Ozbargain?

  • +1

Went to the new shops today, amazed at all the tightarses in the shell!
Side note: Is that Costco servo for members only? It said enter here- members only bit I don't know how they could restrict that?

    • +2

You need to swipe your member card before the pump will operate. $60 a year works out to $1.15 per week. That's nothing compared to what you save. Plus, Costco policy is that they will always be cheaper than any servo in an 8km radius.

      • +1

Ah ok thanks. We live further up north so Costco wouldn't be a benefit to us

  • +1

Ask the shop to hold 60L for me.. I am driving from Melbourne!
