Lord of the Rings Trilogy Extended Edition Blu-Ray box set $37.39 AUD Delivered @ Amazon UK

20

Came across this deal from Amazon UK and i wanted to share. Cheapest GBP price ever on Amazon UK for the Lord of the Rings Extended blu-ray box set.

It would come shipped packaged in cardboard shipping packaging unlike Zavvi which only shoves the box sets in cheap flimsy bubble wrap mailer packaging so you can be sure the box set will arrive from Amazon UK in pristine condition.

How to order: Under Other Sellers on Amazon on the right hand side of the screen and point to seller Sold by: Amazon for £19.83 and click the Add to Basket button right next to it. It will further reduce in the cart to £16.53 + £3.58 delivery = AUD $37.39 delivered according to Amazon Currency Converter.

    .
expensive !!! it was cheaper with the Zavvi deal last month mine was just under AU $31 with the WELCOME for new customers

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/164279

They must have made far too many of these boxsets and are writing them off to clear stock
….this is where OzBargainers come into the picture :)

Reason why it was slightly cheaper because the shipping packaging that Zavvi uses is very cheap and flimsy and you get what you pay for in that regard. They skimp on the packaging part of the postage & packaging deal. Amazon UK does not skimp so much on the packaging in the regard that they use proper cardboard packaging for box sets which has much more strength than a flimsy bubble wrap mailer bag which proves no strength at all. In that case Zavvi is treating the box set cardboard packaging itself as the contents shipping packaging which can cause some damage to the box set.

You can't just buy whatever is cheapest and forget to esquire what sort of shipping package or lack of the shop may be using because there may be a very good reason why it's cheaper because they skimp out by using very cheap and crap packaging.

TL;DR zavvi packaging bad, Amazon good

        • -1

Zavvi = box set inserted in cheap bubble wrap mailer bag is bad. Amazon UK = box set inserted in cardboard packaging is good. That's the reason Zavvi only charges £0.99 for delivery because of the very cheap and bad packaging they use. Extra £2.59 gets proper cardboard packaging from Amazon UK vs bad mailer bag packaging from Zavvi.

          @hollykryten: we get it.

      • Please tell this to JB HIFI…

      • Don't come much worse that The Hut for packaging. Maybe they use Zavvi?

        • -1

Zavvi is owned by The Hut.

        • @hollykryten: And you negged me for not knowing? I bought this ^^ recently from the Hut. Came in a thin package, no bubble wrap, in fact no protection at all.

It takes too long to watch! I keep falling asleep. Buy the normal length ones!

    • I heard the theatrical versions have a dodgy green tiny master transfer issue but the extended edition transfers are fine. That's one very good reason to get the extended edition over the theatrical.

      • Edit typo: green tint

      • That's the emission of kryptonite come with the ring.

      • You've got that around the wrong way. It's the extended versions that have the tint. Very disappointing.

        • I see. I'm wrong is the other way around.

    • Pressing stop and coming back to it when you're ready > incomplete story anyday

  • Still working -:with todays exchange it was $38.09 delivered.

    • Thanks. I've removed the expiry. Has dropped back down in price to what it was. Amazon currency converter claims $37.39 AUD delivered.

I wouldn't think you'd even be able to get 3 movie tickets these days for $37.

      • I wouldn't think you'd even be able to get 3 movie tickets these days for $37.

Haven't been around here long huh? ;)

        • Nah just i never bother going to the cinema got far too many blu-rays at home to watch :)

  • I recently brought this and while the Blu-ray discs in this set are region B same as Australia. The DVD discs included in this set are locked to region 2 not 4 meaning they would not play on my PS4 or DVD player :(

    • +1

Hint. Get a Samsung blu-ray player as they can be made to be DVD region unlocked using a remote control code.

    • +1

Probably easier 'backing up' the discs on computer and removing the region coding, and re-burning them. Not illegal because you own the discs and it's for your private use :)

      • +1

Under Australian copyright law "backup" is not an exemption or excuse in this case.

        The law: PDF download

It can be illegal but still not unethical or unreasonable.

What brand and model is the DVD player? They should all have an unlock code when sold in Australia. Check the manual or online.

Gaming consoles are a different story, however.
