Retails for $179 in US, should be around 202 AUD. Price are massively inflated with the free junks IMO.

    • Retail is $199 US, actual price may be $179 though.
199 USD = 241 AUD with PayPals conversion fees.

Seems to be a downgraded competitor for the Asus t100. Half the storage, half the ram and -10% CPU performance for about $150 savings. Isn't bad if you ask me.

Received mine a few days ago and so far I'm actually quite happy with the build quality. Had no problems so far, battery lasts for a good 8hours of medium usage (videos/browsing), standby uses hardly any battery (used <1% for 30minutes standby earlier)..
Screen quality is decent, touch is decent..

Charger is a foreign plug however (and a Chinese brand), though a quality converter was provided. Would've still preferred a decent Australian charger as it is simply a 5v 2.5amp DC charger.. Can't complain too much though; it charges the device.

Keyboard is quite good build quality though has some weigh to it. Using the keyboard has a nice feel, keys (as expected on a 10inch laptop) are extremely close together though. Touchpad is horrid, though usable.. Personally prefer to simply tap the screen over using the touchpad.

The so called "junk" included a quite handy microHDMI cord which allowed for 1080p video output to my TV, handled playing videos at that res quite well. The screen cleaning kit came in quite handy, ended up cleaning all my computer screens; got the job done quite well. The internet security crap I opted not to get. MicroSD card holds a steady transfer rate of 30MB/s read and write. Case is decent though nothing really fancy.

I needed a portable laptop and it's a portable laptop, happy customer here. Saved myself $170 over the t100.

  • I'm no expert, but I think it's the same one they have at Mwave for $499.

    Same model number.

Windows 8 with 1GB RAM? How does that go?

  • +4

how about they keep that junk and take 100 off that price.

  • Please help. Seriously want to buy a lap top as replacement before Xmas.

Main use is to show my kid the baby photos.
Ideally under $500 and at least 15".
As it is hard to get a fast laptop under $500.
Thinking of getting this to connect with a BenQ 24" monitor under $200.
What will you do if this is for yourself? Any constructive advice is much appreciated.
    Thank you in advance.

Somewhere like MSY is definitely your best bet, they'll have plenty of decent 15" laptops <$500
In fact they'll most likely have a couple that are <$350 as well, that could easily handle displaying your baby photos ;)

There lots of places to get ok laptops under $500
      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-HP-15-d014tu-LATEST-WINDOWS-8…

      for example
many other cheaper ones. but they mostly come with around 2gb of ram which is too low imo.
or you could go for a used laptop you can easily pick up a decent laptop for 200-300

don't buy this over priced tablet.

      http://www.dicksmith.com.au/laptops-notebooks/acer-aspire-15…
$369 it's ok price not extremely powerfull proccessor but plenty for picture and im assumeing web browseing aswell and such. 500gb HDD and 4gb ram, it's around the same price MSY has as far as i can see right now.

  • CentreCON…. delivery ETA December, as that's when they will get returns from customers which they will rebox and flog off as 'new'.
