Awesome deal, was about to bbok a couple of days before at $674. Can i just ask, what is the cheapest ever flights Sydney - Honolulu? Having a little argument, im saying this is the cheapest ever. (I could be wrong)

When Jetstar first started flying syd-Hon they had starter fares for either $199 or $299 return. Can't remember which. But I'm sure someone will correct me
September 2006 for flights in Feb-Mar 2007.
$44 each way + taxes and fees = $455 return
With inflation though you could argue this is cheapest. :P
RBA inflation calculator says $455 in 2006 is worth $542 in 2013.
If I didn't book my Japan flights with the 2 for 1 offer, I would have definitely booked this one.

The Fiancee and I were going to Hawaii for our honeymoon in July, but when the 2 for 1 to Japan came up we jumped on that instead (Japan was on our shortlist anyway).
When I saw this I though "Oh No!", but the dates don't work so it's all OK :)

Having snagged some cheap flights from the last sale, I've now realised that Hawaii does not have cheap* accommodation!
(*By cheap, I mean good value, 4 or 5 star hotels… not backpackers!)

4 or 5 star you won't find for cheap. Around US$200 a night is about the best you can hope to get in that calibre in a good location.
Yea, you can double that. Average room, at an average 4* hotels is $300 - $350.
(Thats for a room that looks 'into the resort', in a non touristy area, from an ozbargain special).
Booked Hilton Hawaiian Village at 200 a night plus the resort fee. For early 2015. It's a polarising hotel but good for kids.
Have seen both outriggers (Beach and reef) for US$260 recently. 200 us a good price, but this is ozbargain so people should be resourceful.
Mind telling us how and when you got that price.
Looking at it now and its 250$ USD with 20% discount per night + resort fee.

Kept an eye on specials through Expedia.com (not .com.au). My experience is that they tend to fluctuate a bit; I was annoyed I missed out at that price and then a few days later they came back at the discounted rate and I booked. That was in late October.
Depends what you call cheap. You can get a basic studio from around $100US a night.
Just realized how much Hawaiian prices have gone up and also the AU dollar has come down, hence the inflation in prices since I last went to Hawaii about 2 years ago.
Something is definitely happening there with Accommodation for 3 star costing $400 a night (this is for Maui)!!

Even Honolulu is quite expensive at the dates I was looking - almost as if there is some sort of special event happening
Just a word of warning that the flight from SYD-HON is one of the worst possible 10 hour flight you'll ever take…little to no food, home improvement playing on replay for 10 hours on a shared 1990s quality LCD screen. My form of entertainment was watching the sunrise!!

and its a bit cold too. Just come prepared (warm clothes, a book or tablet and something to eat) :) and enjoy Hawaii! -its a shame the dates dont suit me waiting for another one for later in the year!
