Nice price! Wonder if the Extreme Pro will be on promotion in the upcoming weeks?:)

    • Please for the love of god… PLEASE

At these prices, might just buy one now and buy another extreme pro (At the moment $142 delivered from topbuy)

  • FYI, new versions are now fixed drive format and not removable so might not be usable as bootable usb drives for windows installs etc.

    • Could you please explain what this Fixed drive format is?

      • +1

Basically a fixed drive is an HDD, that is, no driver installation is required. So if a USB shows up in the computer as an HDD, not as a removable drive, it's a fixed drive format.

SanDisk is beginning production of flash drives configured as fixed disk in 2012 to meet new requirements for Windows 8 Certification

        Some more information here:

        http://forums.sandisk.com/t5/All-SanDisk-USB-Flash-Drives/Sa…

        • I wonder if these could be used as a temporary SSD for things such as a Linux installation on a PC. Or even Windows?

        • +2

This is the first time I've heard of such a format for flash drives, so did a quick search found this: http://forums.sandisk.com/t5/All-SanDisk-USB-Flash-Drives/US…

In the second post, the Sandisk email states that they switched them back to removable disk mode at the end of 2013, so it looks like there's a whole year's worth of these fixed drive sticks floating around. Bizarre :|

I purchased two of these from Amazon last week for US$34.99 each, when the last deal was posted:
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/170199

I had a Live Chat session with Amazon just now, and the rep agreed to refund the price difference straight off. That's darn good service!

I just did the same, they refunded me the difference.

      Good guy Amazon.

    • Same here just had a refund approved on 1 drive great service

    • Also did the same. Great service.

Might roll it into one of the PNY drives…

  • I got one of these from MSY a few months ago.. Very nice USB drives! Very quick. Using Rufus and installing windows 8.1 from these things took just under 3 minutes. :)
