I wonder if it stacks with
    SavooPreXmasOffer14

I know it says not valid with other offers but I still get the option to enter a promo code.

Didn't work, but was worth a try!

Buy a MS Surface Pro 3 and receive a $100 MS Store Voucher

A$979 original price should have been written

    • +4

Sorry didn't think I should add the price since it works for any model.

  • Jesus. I had no idea they were so expensive here. $AU 1.5k for the lower-specced 256GB model, and that's without the Type Cover that with the voucher is 'only' $50 more.

    • +3

Expensive compared to where? 256GB i5 in the US is US$1.3k which is over AU$1.5k.

      • +2

Don't know why you are being downvoted, Microsoft for once priced the models similar to the US

Velocity are offering 4x points right now as well: http://estore.velocityfrequentflyer.com/office-and-business/…

    • Which is better: Velocity points or cashback?
My vote goes to cashback, but I'd be interested to know if others would go for the velocity points.

      Could you get both?

      • If you mean the $100 off your next order thing, yeah you can get that and the Velocity points.

I don't know if I'll ever have any use for the points but hey, I signed up anyway for this.

        • No I was referring to the 3% cashback from cashrewards or 3.2% from Qwibble (or varied % from StartHere/PricePal).

3% cash back plus velocity points plus $100 voucher would be nice!

Oh I see. I'd consider myself an OzBargain regular but somehow I didn't know about those sites!

  • I just bought one on Monday, hopefully I can still get the voucher off them.

I believe they have a 14 day return policy. If they won't budge, just return and re-order. In fact, if you tell them that's your plan, they should prefer to save the time and effort of processing the return and the separate order and give you the voucher anyway.

Can someone check my math, not sure if this works.
    128 i5 model student price 1088.10 - with 3% cashback comes to 1055.45

Then use $100 voucher to buy typecover valued at 134.99 - comes to 34.99

All together it comes to $1190.45 at microsoft store.

    VS JB

    i5 128GB 1208 with 10% student discount 1087.20
    Typecover 149.99 with 10% student discount 134.99
    Total $1222.19

So you would save $31.75 if you ordered from microsoft store. This is all assuming that you can have access to student promos. Although I have heard that people have been getting the student discount at JB with out much proof.

    • Does the student offer apply to ICAA candidates?

    • It's $1090.45 from the MS store. You're off by $100.

    • 3% cashback from what?

  • Be warned that their servers are struggling a bit at the moment. Kept getting blank pages during order and still haven't received my order confirmation email after a couple hours. The confirmation page on the site gives you a coupon code you can enter manually to buy your type cover (or whatever) for $100 off though, so you don't have to wait.

  • I find Lenovo Yoga 3 pro has better user experience, and better design as well

    • Yoga 3 pro is about $2000, how can you compare the two?

      • The price of a surface pro varies from about a grand to two and a half with keyboard etc so seems like a reasonable comparison. It's not like they are comparing a surface with a motor bike.

    • Price/performance ratio is completely out of whack on the Yoga 3, you're paying an $800+ premium over the base i5 Surface model for quite a lot less power. They also don't have a pen. But they look pretty.

If you don't need a pen and want more of a laptop you have a lot of faster, cheaper alternatives than the Yoga 3 though, including the Yoga 2.

      • The performance of Yoga 3's Core M actually quite comparable to Surface Pro 3's i5, and from older reviews to newer ones, the performance of Yoga 3 seems to increase by some sorts of optimisation from Lenovo and Microsoft. There's new version of 3DMark released on Windows 8.1 app store, and Yoga 3's score is in between of Surface Pro 3's i7 and i5

    • Agree that Yoga 3 pro looks awesome, but it's way too expensive and not fitting the same niche. Core M processors can't compete with the 3rd & 4th gen i5/7, IMO. It's also gotta have digitiser and stylus to compete for me.

      • I dont believe Core M cant compete with i5, see my comment above, Core M has decent performance especially consider its 1/3 of i5 power consumption.

        • fair enough, I'd only looked at a few early reviews and discussions of Core M. Looks like it needed a few tweaks and is now a viable option in some cases.
Do you know if the competitive versions are ones that are above reference speeds/voltage/wattage? I know manufacturers can adjust for more or less power to suit their device.

        • @Iceman82: I believe the earlier reviewed Yoga 3 pro has Core M locked at 4W TDP, while the released version has standard 4.5W TDP which makes Core M has upper-hand over i5 4300u

It's overpriced for a Chinese brand device, cannot be compared to the Surface Pro.

  • Do they provide tax invoice so I can get TRS ?
