  • Is Thundernews solarwinds too?

Any benefit in a block account with one of these if I already have a Thundernews account?

    • +1

No benefit same content source… Go for a Dutch provider like tweaknews for a block from a different provider group. If you take the trial with tweaknews they offer a reduced block price to lure you in when you are done (even if you are going to join :))

  • Block news made me create another account, I could see no mention of new users only, I used same email and details so interested to see what happens.

  • +1

$8.99 for 100GB doesn't seem as competitive as $30-35 for 1TB that NewsGroupDirect often do on Terrabyte Tuesday.

Also, OP may want to update title to "Highwinds" instead of "SolarWinds" :)

    • Yeah I wasn't using Usenet for the last terrabyte Tuesday will review my usage for the next one.

And point taken on the name.

  • $3.99 per month = bargain!

Although Yearly is the better bargain (but not available yet).

    Note: Only 300 days retention.

    • 300 days will probably do 95% of the stuff that I want, but I would be annoyed when I wanted that 5% of stuff.

      • That's why I'm grabbing a cheap frugal unlimited account for all the stuff I want straight away when released, and a block account from another provider for the times I want older stuff.

This is my first major leap into Usenet so I plan on setting up a cheap box to grab everything automatically. Raspberry Pi maybe? Donno yet.

  • My advice, get a seedbox instead.

    • +1

How much is a seedbox? The other problem is of course getting the invites for the private trackers.

      • I pay $7 AUD a month for unlimited data and 77GB of storage.

      • +1

+1 for the problem with invites for private trackers.

  • thanks… had a frugal account from last year at 4.99USD/mth… cancelled it and signed up again for 3.99USD/mth..
    :)
