    • I went to the World Square store and got a green one

Damn it, I was there yesterday evening, and there was no stock!

Did you see any other colours available? Other than Yellow or Green?

      EDIT:
Oh yeah, and I now have to retract my offer to sell these at $199.

      • I think they said they had pink too.
        Definitely no blue or white.
He had to get one from the back.

        • I think they said they had pink too.

He had to get one from the back.

Thanks. They must of had them last night.

Of well, I will just get Yellow.

  • I should also say that JB Hifi Pitt St Sydney had plenty of stock this morning. And they are unlocked (tried with an international sim).

    • I should also say that JB Hifi Pitt St Sydney had plenty of stock this morning.

Kool. Only Yellow or Green ones?

      • Yellow, green and pink.

        • +1

          Yellow, green and pink.

          Thanks.

  • The poor mans iPhone.

  • For anyone in doubt about how good of a deal this is, the normal price of an iPhone 4S 8GB on Telstra prepaid is more expensive than this one. The iPhone 5c 8GB normally costs $509 (down from $529), the white 32GB is sold at $649.

  • Just brought Pink for Wife at JB Hifi at Homeworld on the Gold Coast had 4-5 yellow left and 3 pink
Will post to confirm if unlocked (crossing fingers :) )
    Good Deal OP

    • got one green at gold Coast too, can confirm unlocked

  • WA doesn't seem to have stock yet, was told every store has 15 of each colour on order. If anyone finds a store in WA that has stock please advise. Myaree, garden city, Perth city hay street store don't have any yet.

  • Can confirm this is also avail at Telstra stores (they are advertising it even) and that as of right now the Melb CBD store on Bourke St has plenty of stock in yellow, green and pink.

V happy as I am one of those rare people who likes the aesthetic of the 5C :)

    • Can confirm this is also avail at Telstra stores

Kool. Thanks for confirming this. As I could not find any yesterday.

It must have started today (at least in Sydney).

    • Is it all unlocked from Telstra?

      • Can't vouch for all of them, especially as someone earlier said the one they got was locked, but I just tried a spare VF sim in the one I bought and it works fine, which was a pleasant surprise to me.

  • +1

Just got one from Chermside, I can confirm it's unlocked.

  • can you get new backs for these fairly cheaply ? Not that keen on any of the stock colours

    • can you get new backs for these fairly cheaply ? Not that keen on any of the stock colours

Interesting question. However, it is not a plastic "back" as such. More like the whole case. It would appear to be a 'big job' changing the case.

    • can you get new backs for these fairly cheaply ?

Looks like all 'stock' colours are available for about AU$15 delivered or AU$18 with some tools.

  • Nice post OP. Thank you.

  • Anyone tried price matched at OW even they may not have prepaid version.

    • they dont have 32gb in their website

    • Anyone tried price matched at OW even they may not have prepaid version.

Can't price match / price beat anywhere. As even Apple Stores do not have this Model/Capacity.

  • I got one from the telstra store in Perth, it is locked but I'm a telstra customer so it's no huge drama for me … Maybe it depends on who you purchase it from as to whether they make sure it's locked to telstra or maybe some people are getting the outright phones by mistake? Mine came with two SIM cards and numbers which the Telstra store activated.

    • now you try to put another provider's sim card in, i am sure it works because since iOS 7, all iPhones shipped unlocked ;)

  • is anyone having trouble connecting to wifi? i think my phone is recognising my router but its not connecting to it, like i put in the password and it gives the tick, which means its connected, but when i try to use safari/appstore it does not connect to the internet.. anyone else having this issue? i think its to do with my cisco router.

UPDATE: Wifi works ONLY when i turn off password encryption completely from my router. which is dangerous so i switched it back on. seems like a common problem with cisco routers after doing some research.
ive tried changing the encryption method to WPA/WPA.personal with no luck.

its already unlocked regardless of what JB says, you pop in any sim and it works right away.

      • and (if) its not, the link is the one you need… if its unlocked then obviously you dont need it!

let me make it clear NOT ALL iPhones 5C are unlocked (as some posts mention), prepaids from telstra direct dont appear unlocked from some post feedback but most JBHIFI's do…

        • I bought mine from Telstra and it is unlocked.

  • Anyone seen these recently in Brisbane area? Website is reporting nothing found against a few postcodes I've tried. Even put in Gold Coast postcode since it was reported above that they had some yesterday but the website returned nothing.

    • +2

JB Oxley had a few in stock of the Pink, Yellow & Green when I bought one for the wife yesterday.
Sales guy did say they had sold a few over the course of the day though, so I wouldn't wait too long if keen to get one.

    • Got a green one from Mt Gravatt Home Centre in the end. They had a few left in green and yellow.

Tried ringing the Hyperdome store which is a lot closer but they couldn't tell me if they had any in stock (said they would ring back which of course they didn't).

    • JB in the Queen Street Mall had stock this afternoon.

  • +1

Got a green one from JB Hyperdome. They had all colours yesterday. I can happily confirm it is unlocked!

    • They had all colours yesterday.

Meaning Yellow, Pink, Green - no Blue or White.

  • +1

Pretty good price for this one.

  • It said it is a NEW product but why no stock everywhere.

    • Because a lot of stores are waiting on stock to arrive.

  • +1

    Hopefully new stock also unlocked.

  • +1

Just bought from Pitt St Sydney. Confirmed unlocked via https://unlock.telstra.com/iphoneunlock/main?execution=e1s1

    • from JB HIFI or the Telstra shop ?

      • From JB. Since the IMEI is visible from the sim pack on the outside. May be ask nicely to verify yourself?

        • that's a good idea

  • Visited two WA stores today, they say none in stock yet, but each store should get about 10 of each colour in a week or so. WA… Wait Awhile

  • Confirmed it was unlocked sorry about post delay

  • mine worked with optus as well. didn't need to do any unlocking

  • I got a pink one from the Kedron store yesterday. They definitely had more pink in stock, and I'm pretty sure they had yellow and green as well.

    Mine is definitely unlocked.

  • anyone seen any white ones for sale ?

  • answered my own question as a JB HIFI employee told me only the green, pink and yellow are $399. The other two colours are still full price

  • For anyone that purchased from Telstra Shop, were you able to unlock for free? Telstra staff insisting it is locked to Telstra and that there are two versions of the phone, the one that is unlock able for free is more expensive. Just need confirmation that the phone can take an Optus sim before hitting the purchase. Thanks.

    • I am pretty sure they come unlocked standard (from previous posts in this thread).

The link below states ALL iPhone 5 models are unlocked already: https://unlock.telstra.com/iphoneunlock/main?execution=e1s1

      • Did the IMEI check in store prior to purchase and yes it is unlocked. Telstra staff are misleading!

    • They are unlocked already.

  • i bought a yellow last sunday at jb hifi and can confirm it is unlocked.
did an exchange yesterday for a green and can confirm it is unlocked too.
i think if you are really after an unlocked one, it is better off that you check the imei using https://unlock.telstra.com/iphoneunlock/main?execution=e1s1 before you make the payment.

    • The IMEI is on the box?

      • yes the IMEI outside the surface on the box

  • The IMEI is on the box?

Under Australian legislation, the IMEI number must be on the outside of the box.

  • FYI i bought one in the Perth store today, every single Telstra store said it was 100% locked to Telstra. Paid for it, took it back home, went to the telstra unlock link as quoted by other members, and what do you know…. unlocked.

    • sounds like what you need to do is just simply input you IMEI to the telstra unlock link.
hope others who bought from the telstra store works.

  • Can confirm they're unlocked. At jbhifi staff told me it's locked, I asked her to read out the imei number while inputed it in and shower her it was unlocked. She felt silly and complained to her coworker about her superiors lying to them

  • Purchased a green 32GB for $399 today from a Telstra store at Kilkenny, SA. Unlocked confirmation via link.

  • Picked up green one from Midland, WA. Girl swore it was unlocked, and that head office had specifically told them they were locked. Was pretty pissed in the same fashion as stockpimp when I showed her it was unlocked.

For an iPhone, this is an outstanding deal. People trying to sell second hand ones online for 500 or so

  • +1

Great deal if buying for yourself but not good with the plan of selling on eBay.

By the time you pay eBay and the Paypal fees, you'd have to get $480 (shipped) just to break even. I can't see you getting much more than $550 for it which at $60 profit isn't worth the trouble of a pain in the bum buyer.

    • There are already some on gumtree at $500. Mind you, there are some second hand ones on gumtree for that price as well!

Gumtree equals no shipping or listing costs

  • -6

all those iPhone haters who don't get it.

let me put it into perspective for you.

    1. shiny new phone with godly hardware powers and only 3 apps.

    2. shiny new phone with over powered hardware powers and lots of apps. Some of those apps run slow, some run fast, some run good, some crash, Some requires you to mess around with the phone for a few hours, some wont even run because they were designed for another phone.

    3. a shiny new phone with average hardware and with lots of apps. All of the apps run well at average speed.

IF you have to RELY on your phone for personal needs and business needs, which one would you choose?

    • +2

      I'd choose the neg option.

  • Went to jbhifi NSW store today, the guy keep saying its locked to telstra. he said, he is 100% because the price so cheap and telstra will charge $150 to unlock.

    truth or not ?

    • +1

      truth or not?

      Not true.

    • +1

They are telling fibs I reckon

    • +1

JB Salesperson would say it is locked (because if he/she told you it is unlocked and for some reason it is actually locked, he/she will be in trouble).

If you have a smartphone, just use the link provided by people above and check the IMEI on the spot before you buy the phone. I suspect the phone is unlocked either due to these being Tel$tra postpaid phones. Normally, Tel$tra would lock prepaid phones.

    • +1

@bbqwer have you not been reading the posts in the last week on this deal, from jbhifi NO,I repeat NO its not locked.

  • Confirmed with the telstra store all these are unlocked…

Reason for price is they are insanely overstocked so they are sold cheap with a prepaid card in hope to recoup something back.

JBHifi's in the Sydney CBD area are out of stock although telstra store seem to have plenty (I bought from Pitt st westfield)

  • My local JBHiFi got new stock in this morning so if you missed out over last couple of days it might be worth trying again

  • Confirmed unlocked - bought one last sunday. Tested with Optus SIM.

  • anyone of the 5c new users had tried to change their back to a different color?
surely i like the white or blue one more and been looking on ebay for a cost around 18aud
just want to know whether is an easy job and it is obvious for apple to know that you had change it before?(will swap back if need for warranty)

    • anyone of the 5c new users had tried to change their back to a different color?

I posted about this earlier in this thread.

Big job. About 140+ steps. Detailed at iFixIt.com

      • haha probably i should re-read the thread again before posting anyway it sounds like a very big job(couldnt bother to look it as you mentioned 140+ steps).
i'll think ill deal with it after the warranty if im still use the phone.(probably got the 6s by then)

    • Much easier to just slap a $5 Reject Shop case over the back.

  • +2

JB HiFi Bondi Junction just lost another sale.

Refuses to let me see the IMEI number.

Then said I had to open and activate the phone and sim in store before I could leave with the phone.

Also I sisted it was locked and that it would cost $150 to unlock.

I went down to the TELSTRA store in the same building and was very pleasantly served within 5 minutes. Sales person made a point of saying that it should be unlocked, but that he would check the IMEI for me anyway.

    Great service from TELSTRA.

Anyone found any JB HiFi stock and stores in Melbourne willing to sell without insisting on activating the Phone/SIM at time of purchase ?

    • Anyone found any JB HiFi stock and stores in Melbourne willing to sell without insisting on activating the Phone/SIM at time of purchase ?

Bloody idiots, aren't they. Did they also insist that it was locked to Telstra?

I would advise you to try some Telstra Stores in Melbourne. You have to walk in and ask. They do not advertise nor promote this deal.

      • +1

Did they also insist that it was locked to Telstra?

Yes. Rang 3 stores (Camberwell, Holmesglen and Chadstone) Chadstone only had 1 Yellow left, and they insisted it's locked and will cost $150 to unlock.

Followed up with Telstra. Their central call center told me a local store with a white 16GB 5c at $399. Now, just to get into the actual Telstra store to confirm what's going on.

EDIT: Spoke to someone at the Telstra store - they confirmed it's the 32GB models (pink, green, yellow only) $399. No mention of it being locked to Telstra. So one on hold to pickup tomorrow.

        • +1

lol. it sounds like me grabbed that last yellow one in chadstone. and yes, it works with wife's voda sim out of box.

  • Ended up picking up 2 from Camberwell Telstra shop. Guy insisted that they were locked to Telstra, but running the IMEI's through showed them as unlocked. Oh well, got 2 x $30 prepaid cards to use up I guess. He activated the SIMs, but didn't open the phone box, so they're all still packaged ready fro Christmas :-)

    • that sucks..
if you buy it from jb-hifi they wont activate the SIMs. That could save you for later use
hope you chosen to use data instead of cap plans as i assume youre currently using one already
anyway a good bargain already for a 399 phone plus a telstra $30 starter kit

      • if you buy it from jb-hifi they wont activate the SIMs.

SOME JB HiFi stores are insisting on opening the box, and activating the SIM in the phone!

  • Bought 1 from Melbourne CBD Telstra store yesterday. The one I got is unlocked.

  • Went to two local JB stores this morning, no stock.
Went to Telstra and was surprised to see they had the same deal. Bought one and was told by the store it will be locked.
Went to the phone repair guy in the shopping centre and looked up the IEMI, it was showing as unlocked.
Tested with Vodafone SIM, it worked OK.
Surprised the phone doesn't even have the Telstra App installed. This looks to be straight unlocked/unbranded stock.

    • +2

Went to Telstra and was surprised to see they had the same deal. Bought one and was told by the store it will be locked.

Some staff must be misinformed. Telstra staff can check the IMEI in store to confirm that the phones are unlocked.

Went to the phone repair guy in the shopping centre and looked up the IEMI, it was showing as unlocked.

      Of course.

Tested with Vodafone SIM, it worked OK.

      Of course.

Surprised the phone doesn't even have the Telstra App installed.

No iPhones have anything installed other than the standard iOS.

This looks to be straight unlocked/unbranded stock.

No such thing as branded iPhones - except for the Apple brand:)

  • -1

Any chance the price could go lower in the coming week?

    • +1

APPLE are 'clearing' stock of the 5C phones & have offered them at a great price to telstra, jbhifi UNLOCKED for $399

Can you get it cheaper or will it go cheaper?

It could, but it wont, they will sell out at this price, so stock problem will be solved very quickly!

Can you get it cheaper, will giftcard discounts, creditcard cashbacks they can lower the price; so yes you can (this is osbargins after all)

  • Tesltra website here says all iphone 5's are already unlocked

"All iPhone 5 models and other iPad models are already unlocked"

    https://unlock.telstra.com/iphoneunlock/main?execution=e1s1

  • OK just back from Knox City shopping centre in Vic. Telstra shop downstairs only has Pink left, Telstra shop upstairs (opposite EB Games) has Pink, Yellow and Green. i bought green and iPhone is unlocked.

  • Anyone know of stock in Sydney?

    • +2

Anyone know of stock in Sydney?

Yes, JB HiFi Bondi Junction. However, you have to get head office to re-educate the staff first.

  • Both JB and Telstra are insisting on opening and activating in store. Is this happening to most people buying these? Do I need to worry about this if using another carrier?

    • Both JB and Telstra are insisting on opening and activating in store.

No, not correct. SOME JB and Telstra stores. Certainly not all.

      • My concern is the activation would flag the phone (IMEI) being sold as a Telstra pre-paid and then gets locked sometime after purchase when it gets connected through iTunes. This blog http://exchange.telstra.com.au/2013/11/15/iphone-5-5s-5c-now… says for Pre-Paid You "may" need to pay an iPhone unlocking fee by either calling our Pre-Paid Unlocking Centre or visiting a Telstra store.
