160
mbb39agent

Was talking to a mate that works at 3 about getting mbb and he dropped me a tip that there's a dealer code you can use on the online store to get one month free, mbb39agent, looks like it only works with the 6gb plans but thats ok for me!
Surprised this hasn't spread around already…

  • Nice one!

Find me a "cancel current plan" code now, so I can upgrade to a Iphone 3GS :P

    • Yes please!! I'm desperate to get off my 3 plan.

  • one thing to bear in mind with 3 is that if you ar edownloading something and u wonder into or u happen to be in an area with no 3 coverage, you go into Telstra roaming and your included data allowance will not apply… and you will be charged for $0.50c/mb even if you have 6gb of included downloads.

I see it that with 6gb, there is a greater chance you will get a surprise that a certain place you thought was in 3 area, was actually a roaming area.

As far as i know, there is no way of turning off roaming?

    • Not speaking authoritatively, but I have previously read that it is straightforward to disable roaming.

      • used to be you could lock the phone or modem to 3G to avoid roaming.
But now 3 roams to 3G telstra 850MHz, which is a problem for devices that work on 850, e.g. iPhone.

    • I think it depends on your modem and the software you use…it's certainly possible to not roam.

    • To avoid roaming charges I just disable data on the iphone unless I want to use the internet AND am within 3 coverage

Done by deliberately misspelling the APN name

Usually I switch between 3netaccess and 3netacces (note: missing one 's' stops it from working)

You can change it here on the iPhone
Settings -> General -> Network -> Cellular Data Network ->

      • Doesn't the "allow roaming" switch work? There's gotta be an easier way…that's no way to use an iPhone, it need internet all the time.

  • +2

PS Aren't you going to get the owner of this agent code into a lot of shit?

    • +1

Agent pawn3d for the greater 'ozbargainer', good? lol.

  • If you use the sim with your phone you should be able to turn off roaming in your phone's network settings.

  • Note to self…avoid 3.

  • Is this contract?
Free for 1 month…can you cancel after 1 month?

  • I left Three because of the whole roaming thing. I liked their Internet portal (Planet 3), and coverage and reliability was pretty good. Pricing not bad, but customer service not so good.

  • On all three devices I've used and iPhone it's a very straight forward procedure to turn off data roaming. So I don't know the issue here. I guess it's one of the 'ID 10 T' errors …

    • How about you get your facts right? You cannot block data roaming on iPhone with Three. The toggle in settings only works for international roaming.

Which is why I made http://coreyau.blogspot.com/2009/08/romophobic-v2-now-with-b…

      • I'm with Optus and I didn't have to jailbreak to get a roaming off button.

If 3 removed that button, that's really bad and another reason not to go with them.

        • They haven't removed it, as I (and the link to Three) said, the toggle is their but only relevant to international roaming due to the way their network is setup.
